My ScarletheartRyeo Review!

So this is my first review on Asianfanfics.com, please don't be so harsh on me. Anyways, I've just finished it, and let me first say there are some things that are left unexplained in the series for me and some things that's got nothing to do with the main plot, and some of the characters who annoyed me. Let me start by a review of : 1. Plot, 2. Main Characters, 3 Support characters, 4. Acting, 5. Pairings. 6. My final thoughts on it. 7. My final rating of it.

Major spoilers for those who didn't watch it.

1. The plot is my typically my genre of plot, but there are many things about it that are left unexplained and that's got nothing to do with the main plot, such as the 4th prince's sudden marriage to a girl of a few year old. Never explained how Prince So got his scar either, never explained why his mother hated him so. And also, at the end, Soo's unexplained pregnancy, left me wondering, who's child is it? Wang So's or Wang Jun's? I'd fancy the former for me.

2. The main characters are the 10 princes and Lady Hae Soo. I didn't like Wang So's character, found him way too possessive, and clinging to her. His calling Soo my person didn't sit well with me. Wook is less possessive than him, and I liked the 10th prince's playfulness and frank feelings for her. As for the other princes, I liked how she ended up with Jung. Prince Yo was the manipulative and greediest one of them all for me.

3. Support Characters now. Yeon Hwa confused, how could a half-sister marry her half-brother? At first, I thought she was Wook's maternal cousin, but she's really his sister, and I don't like so yeah. I was heartbroken when Court Lady Oh died for Soo. No doubt she blamed herself for hear death too. Chae-Ryung was a suprise for me too. She's similar to her Chinese counterpart, Yu Tan.

4. I liked Lee Ming Ho's acting, and Wook's actor the best. I don't really know other actors too well to review their acting.

5. As for pairings, I prefer WookSoo to SoSoo, also like EunSoo. I thought it was cute when Eun thought she got feelings for him after she hit him square on his face. And I love the love triangle between Wook/So/Soo. But there should have been more confrontations between these 3.

6. My final thoughts on it. Well, I thought the Korean version was better than the Chinese one, because of the 4th prince's dark and unloved past, I really felt for him. When he started to care for Soo, he was a little too intense in his feelings. It was an all right drama.

7. My final rating. 7/10. Higher than passable.

What are your thoughts on this time-traveling romance Korean adaptation of the Chinese version?

2- Main Characters
Haesoo didn't end up with Jung, per se, since it was a marriage of convenience and she loved So. Yes, he was possessive but only because he was afraid of losing the only person who was good to him for being himself and didn't mistreat him because of his scar. Most of the things he did was out of desparation and it's actually quite pitiful.

3- Supporting Characters
Yeonhwa is Wook's full sister and...there was no at all between them... I don't know how you thought they were in love when there was absolutely nothing between them and they acted the way brothers and sisters do. Seriously, Wook and Yeonhwa were not a ship!
In those days, marriage between half-siblings was allowed (i.e. Wang So and Yeonhwa) but marriage between full siblings was completely forbidden.

4- Acting
I have watched countless dramas and have never heard of Lee Ming Ho. Perhaps you're referring to Lee Minho but he was not in this drama xD The only Lee I know who's in this drama is Lee Joongi who fantastically played the role of Wang So.

5- Pairings
I have to disagree with you because more confrontations between WookSoo and SoSoo would've been really awkward >_< I loved Wook too - he was an ideal prince - but at the end of the day, we musn't forget that he was married to Haesoo's cousin. Wook was a perfect man and a perfect husband but since he was Lady Hae's husband, the characters all knew it wouldn't be right for Wook and Haesoo to be together. This is also why Wang So never guessed that the man Haesoo once loved would turn out to be Wook.

1- Plot
4th Prince's Sudden Marriage to His Niece: After becoming king, King Hyejong (former Crown Prince Mu) lost his mind due to fears of being attacked. He was scared that Khitan would start a war against Goryeo so he planned to send his daughter, little Princess Kyunghwa, to Khitan to marry one of their princes as a peaceful alliance. (This was a very common practice in many countries' histories, by the way.) But Wang So, seeing that the little princess did not want to go, stopped everything because he didn't want her to suffer the way he had his entire childhood, being forcefully sent to a place he did not want to go as a hostage. King Hyejong (who was crazy and paranoid) then asked if Wang So would marry the little princess instead to protect him and since it was the only way that Wang So could save her from having to go and marry the enemy, Wang So accepts and marries the little princess to save her. She later becomes a priestess in a temple.

(The rest is in the replies.)
