Harin's trainee period at Pledis Ent overlapped with that of Seventeen's Joshua by roughly four months before Joshua started to seriously prepare for Seventeen's debut. During those four months Harin picked up guitar by interest after seeing Joshua playing freely to random tunes and casually making up lyrics on spot. For this cause, Harin often came to Joshua despite the age difference to ask for tips and tricks of playing guitar to which she diligently followed routinely. This wasn't exactly easy to do as the male and female trainees had separate dancing studios but Harin caught Joshua once by chance during changing studio shifts. Because Harin was only thirteen at that time, Joshua only perceived her as curious child and gladfully taught her. Because of her determination in mastering the guitar, sometimes the other trainees called her the guitar addict to which she accepted with no fuss as she thought of it as a compliment.

Harin originally auditioned for Pledis when she was thirteen as a rapper but was made a vocalist instead in the middle of her training session there as the trainers saw the potential in her voice and her natural strength. During individual training time, she'd direct most of her energy towards dancing as she knew it was her most evident weakness. She's most comfortable asking help and pointers from fellow trainees Pinky and the oldest unnie, Nayoung. Her closest friend would have to be the same age friend Kyla who is a rapper. She spent a lot of time talking and confiding in her.

As a trainee in SM, Harin spent even more time trying to improve her dance. The standards there is definitely stricter than her previous company and she certainly wasn't the best dancer among her fellow friends. But she wasn't exactly bad either. People around her told her that her body form was always good and that she only needed to work on the flow and musicality. For Harin, her biggest problem would be learning the moves quickly and getting the beat down. Vocal wise, Harin was often told to take care of properly as she had few inflammations during training. She'd rap for fun between her trainees but otherwise didn't push her desire more than necessary.

As for guitar, Harin had put less hours into it to compensate her dancing but she still plays her guitar every once in a while, composing random songs especially when she feels terribly down. Once, Harin got a chance to play her guitar together with Taeil as the older was also coincidentally strumming his own in the band studio. That was her first and last time of meeting Taeil as trainees before he debuted with NCT-U.

Harin didn't get the chance to make as much friends considering the relatively short time of her training and also the fact that she wasn't apart of the SMRookies. She also gives out awkward first impressions which also made her hesitate to actually talk around and make friends. However, Harin did become closely acquainted with Herin and Hina to whom she owes extra hours of dance practice. The two helped her alot both training-wise and also manuvering around the company. Harin cherished them a lot as she believed they have spent a lot of time and effort in helping her improve.

Overall, Harin wasn't well-known among the trainees but she gets distinctly good feedbacks from her fellow trainers.

BACKGROUND + 

Harin's parents are both Seoul-born and so was her but the family moved to Incheon in 2004 when she was 3 because her father got promoted as vice-principal in a primary school there. Other than when Harin first moved into the trainee dorm provided by Pledis, she had no memory of Seoul prior to that. Her siblings had always been independent and scattered all over South Korea which makes Harin quite independent herself. Her older brother is attending a sports academy in Busan and her younger brother is currently enrolled into a boarding school at Jeju.

Her family was never against her dream, but they weren't exactly enthusiastic about it either. Harin held on to her mother's words which goes, 'If things go wrong, home is always for you'. Harin knew those words were said to her as encouragement but she knew they were also said out of fear of letting her into the industry.

As of 2016, Harin started her first year at Seoul Broadcasting High School.

Harin got accepted as a trainee at Pledis upon her first try at a casting audition. She had always dreamed of being an idol and worked hard to achieve her dream. Nothing went particularly wrong during her time of being a trainee at Pledis, in fact she admired the environment there especially the girls she trained with. However, on January 2016, Harin got unexpectedly casted in front of her school by an SM manager. Earlier the same day, she had performed an acoustic rendition of EXO's 'Love Me Right' with her guitar during a small celebration for the birthday of the school's director in the school's hall and the manager just happened to be there.

She promised her that she would do everything in her power to get Harin debuted and gave her a business card. Coincidentally, Harin's training contract with Pledis was to end in three weeks and she'd had to sign a new one to extend the contract. She took the events as signs and after much debate and contemplation with herself, decided to sign with SM Ent instead. Even if she had a great time at Pledis, Harin considered a bigger chance at SM to pursue her dream of becoming an idol.

Prior to being selected for debut, Harin was scared she wouldn't make the group as her style did not exactly fit into the concept prepared.

PERSONALITY + Min 2 paragraphs 

Jun Harin is awkward.

Her jokes are always either hit or miss. At times when they are hits, those are often unintentional and when they are misses, those are when she'd wait expectantly for nice responses (which of course she doesn't get). Around her members, she doesn't crack jokes often because she knows her capabilities. As she progresses along training, her jokes became tad a bit funnier as she watches a lot of videos to improve her sense. She knows having sense is also important to become succesful idols, especially when she is still young. This was also something Joshua said to her, 'you must hone your variety skills'.

Harin is also transparent.

Her members can always see when she's trying to restrain herself from making a lame joke and they'd often laugh at that instead. She doesn't cry a lot but when she does feel sad there is no hiding it. She also laughs on impulse as she is easily amused. You might have guessed it, but the members would never trust her to do a hidden camera event. However, it is also because of this quality that Harin can be a good weapon to the team as she would be the first one to fidget when she feels something is wrong. For example, is she sense someone falling out of formation during practice, her nose would immediately scrunched and that's when the members know they have something to fix.

In terms of hygiene and cleanliness, Harin stands right where she thinks she should be.

She isn't a particularly neat-freak or anything. She feels it's fine as long as someone does not dirty her place or her possessions on purpose. On some days, Harin is just a normal teenager who is also lazy to do her own laundry. On those days sometimes other members tell her to get right to it or she won't have clean clothes for the rest of the week. Harin is particular when it comes to hair-related items such as combs and hair bands. She doesn't let other members use hers and she even has her own bottle of shampoo.

Because Harin is pretty much addicted to volleyball, she has learned to put complete trust in the people around her.

This is especially strengthened because Harin is far away from her family. No family member would be close enough should anything happen to her, therefore she learns to trust the people she has around her instead. Harin is not afraid to approach people to ask for help as can be seen when she approached Joshua and Taeil, but if she's told to approach someone just for the fun of it, Harin would become to scared to do it.

Lastly, Jun Harin would be the person to go if you just want to talk because she would always listen.

She doesn't particularly excel in the counseling department, but if the members feel like the want someone to listen to them, Harin would be there. She's very good at focusing and listening and giving subtle appropriate reactions. That being said, one time Hina went to her crying because she missed Japan and Harin had listen intently to her cries, eyes never leaving the younger, not even once. That is to reassure her that 'it's okay, you can talk. I'll listen, I'll be here'.

PERSONALITY + Mingyu is very passionate about being singing, which the best quality that made Harin likes him. Other than that, he is also known as Seventeen's handy man who is capable of doing anything from cooking to changing a light bulb. Seventeen's leader S.Coups once said during Seventeen One Fine Day that as long as Mingyu is there, they don't need to worry. Mingyu would build them a house and fish for them all. Mingyu is very cheerful and outgoing overall, and very manly. 

As a rapper in his group, Mingyu contributes a lot to writing the lyrics of their songs. He is also the tallest, standing at 185cm.

HISTORY + They passed by each other frequently when Harin was still a Pledis trainee but never had an actual conversation. She was thirteen and Mingyu was seventeen so they would have been distant from each other. However, Harin once shared a studio with Mingyu as they both needed to use the instruments and that's when Mingyu approached her first, asking her about her age and hometown.

RELATIONSHIP + Rather than a serious love interest, Harin thinks of Mingyu as a small crush and admiration. In this context, Harin doesn't think about him each and every day but when he does crosses her mind or when they have the slightest of interaction like meeting each other backstage, she smiles and feels happy immediately. Her reactions are almost like those of shy fangirl being able to see her idol in real life.

As trainees, Mingyu watched the small Harin run around Pledis building and always see her and Kyla as the company's cute youngest while Harin harbour deep admiration at Mingyu's development every day.

Due to their age difference, Harin doesn't hold any hopes but instead would appreciate it even if Mingyu only sees her as a younger sister.

OTHER +

+ Harin secretly likes Mingyu's canine teeth as she thinks they added bonus to his already handsome face.

+ Mingyu once saw Harin playing her guitar and singing by herself in an empty studio and actually stop by to listen but left once Harin finished her song.
