Yoon Min is Sunyoul

BACKGROUND +

Yoon Min hopes one that people realize boys just want to have fun too. It's kind of hard though when he lives in a town as small as Taebaek. Still, the boy has always had way; as he likes to say "If fun won't come to you, then you better come after it with a flying fist for making your life so boring." Fun most likely took a couple punches from Min when he finally found it because the next thing we all knew. He was the kid that seemed to always have fun. Oh course under the supervision of his extremely overprotective brother Sangmin. Aside from the occasional, "Don't you even think about it Min, if that doesn't kill you, I will." Life was good, most importantly, life was fun.

Min's parents didn't seem to agree about the whole fun life. Or at least his dad didn't, his mom on the other hadnw as all for it. His parents were complete opposites, one was the crazy adrenaline junkie that would probably go on some big roller coaster, like Min. The other was frantic, worried mess that always thought of the worse case scenario, like Sangmin. There as always a compromise, so everyone got what they wanted. Min and his mom were allowed to go on their giant rollercoaster in the end as long as they paid for dinner. So once again, Min was having fun.

The fun started to vanish from Min's life when he was 9 (so young he knows). Gym was always he's least favorite class; all they did was play dodgeball and do push up and stuff. Therefore, Min decided to start skipping the class. He would be in class for attendance then find away to escape when the teacher wasn't looking. By the end of the semester, however, he got caught. The teacher said that he had two options: either start attending the rest of gym class and make up the missing semester in summer school (not fun), or take choir class afterschool for a minimum of three hours a day (the gym teacher was testing a theory is singing was actually considered a form of exercise), that was about four times longer than gym class. However, his family always had big plans of travelling when summer came around. In the end, he had no choice but to start taking choir class.

It wasn't even a cool vocal class where they sang pop songs or rapped. It was a classical choir! Choir wasn't boring at least, no, it was petrifying. Who knew old ladies could be so imtimidating? Poor Min only realized after the first time he got in trouble and was forced to stay an extra hour doing just sight-reading. A whole fricking hour of sight-reading! Min believes no one has felt true pain until they've spent a whole sight-reading then still having to talk afterwards.

Despite how the paragraph may seem and how much Min seemed to hate it; don't be fooled. His family was even convinced that he would drop out of choir and just take the summer school. That, however, was far from the case. In fact, Min instead asked the principal permission that his gym period be changed so he could go the studio as it was so close to the school. When he was asked he'd always turn defensive and say something like, "Well I'm not gong to embarrass myself in front of everyone because I hate it." Until one day he messed up when his mom was picking him up from the studio and said. "One more hour! I just need to apply my corrections!"

While the disciplined environment was intense and Min wasn't the biggest fan of it. It wasn't boring. The air felt eletric when every second Min was in the room, singing in the studio. He fell in love with hearing the sound of his own loud voice ringing through the room, he'd get a thrill from putting power into every move. Not long after his confession to actually liking choir, Min was completely consumed by it. He would have the small forty-six minute period during school, then four hours of practice after, and on weekends he could spend the whole day in the studio. His family was happy that Min was finding something to do to have fun and stay out of trouble.

It wasn't long (*cough* eight years *cough*) until Min was in a choir company. He got the role as a male principle. For one of the the company's biggest shows of the year, in order to be able to have enough content to fill the whole show the choir was arranged to have all sort of arrangements and variations to keep it interesting. Not only were there songs with the whole choirs, but smaller groups and even solos as well. Min has managed to snag two solos and was put in charge of a group of four to direct and get a song for.

If being only a seventeen year old in a choir company wasn't enough to grab attention of BigHit's, then his solos and his group arrangement definitely got their attention. Min, being the fanboy he was, managed to teach his group some song BtoB's vocal line did (1, 2, 3), himself getting his ultimate bias's part: Seo Eunkwang. As for his solos, they were both still songs BtoB had done. One being Eunkwang's song from Masked Singer "Tears" and the other being a cover Hyunsik had done "Moondance". Much to everyone's pleasure, the concert had gone wonderfully and BigHit was more than convinced that they wanted to contract him.

It was easy for BigHit to convince Min, they told him how many more stages and performances he'd be able to do and he was sold. Min just wanted to sing afterall, now he could travel and sing and explore and experiment a little too. With his parent's (and Sangmin) permission, and a blessing from the choir, Min was allowed to leave for Seoul and become an idol.

TRAINEE LIFE +

"Wow this is a really easy song." Min always thought to himself, liking how much looser he was allowed to stand during vocal practices. They didn't have to have perfect posture and position like in choir. "This instructor is a lot nicer too!" He also thought when they only had to learn one vocal part for a song instead of learning his section's part and the other sections as well just in case they were to switch. To Min, the environment felt more relaxed and less intense. Like a place he didn't constantly feel on edge, ready to start getting yelled at or thrown into something.

Dancing... was a work in progress. He was definitely getting the hang of singing while moving. He definitely couldn't compare to those up for lead or main roles as dancers. Min was definitely better than how he was when he started, while he's moves were the most fluid, he could at least learn the dance and smile and sing while doing it now.

However, Min got bore. Without choir, as he had to move to BigHit, Min needed a new source of entertainment: how about his fellow trainees? Most of them were good sports, simply taking whatever he would do to them. "He's one of the maknaes afterall, can't help it." Some would say. Others got angry, "You're going to be an idol one day, stop being such a child." Min, being the child he is, only gave them more, and much worse. While his pranking days are only weekly, they always start with a bang (sometimes even literally). Then ended with someone getting covered in only Min knows what.

PERSONALITY +

Fun-loving, creative, perfectionist, energetic, confident

While Min isn't one of those crazy teens that run around causing chaos screaming "Yolo", he certainly believes in making the most out of life. You only live once right? In the most boring situations, Min will find a way to crack and grin. While he's hardened to the core by the his eight long years of having his self-esteem beat down on (choir instructors are intense!) he's learned a trick or two about finding the fun. Not to mention Min's an absolute adrenaline junkie. Hence, one of the reasons why he loves the stage so much, the rush up his spine, the chilling in his bones with a spotlight shining down. Fun can come in all different forms, it just depends the person. Believe it or not, Min does find quite some entertainment from a game of chess. Fun can come in all sorts of forms; Min would know. Afterall, he's made quite the variety of games, and with each, there's always a twist!

As well beating down on his self-esteem for so many years, his choir instructors also gave him the wish for perfection. Sure, it's what everyone strives; Min might be a little extra motivated. Being perfects means that you're there. What is there exactly? The level when you can truly call yourself a master. No need for corrections, nothing new to learn, instead, it will be his time to create more for the next generation. He's got the energy for it too. Singing for hours straight has got to give some Min something other than a tired throat and itchy nose, and it did. Min also got a really big stamina, giving him extra power to run around and be the crazy maknae he was meant to be. Name the craziest, wildest person you can, Min will fight for his role to be the most energetic. AGM will confirm that it could be long past midnight and he's still ready for whatever is coming at them.

One of Min's favorite quotes is, "Arrogance requires advertising, confidence speaks for itself." That way, he can keep himself in check in order to not be egotistical but still radiate confidence. Afterall, why should he be imtimidated by his senoirs or older groups. Sure, they may have more experience as an idol, or even better generally better at singing or dancing than Min is. It doesn't mean Min is terrible though. Min knows he's good; if he wasn't why else would BigHit have wanted him, why would he be main vocalist, why would he be debuting?

Realistic, tough, aggressive, restrained, strict

While Min may be AGM's happy, bright maknae liner, that doesn't mean he's shrouded in the delusions of positivity. Don't worry, he doesn't find the bad in every situation either; he simply just faces reality like it is. So he's going to be debuting in a new group? That doesn't mean the group is going to be popular; it also doesn't mean the group isn't going to be popular. It simply means that they're debuting and now Min has to prepare for that. He can handle whatever it takes, he knows that eventually through all the good and bad times, it's always worth it in the end. He can take the critizism and hate more easily than others, he's just bit more used to it. Already hardened his shell for everything they try to break him with.

Min's aggressive was nothing the others expected to see in such a generally happy person. However, when it's time to practice then you better shut the heck up before Min loses it. While he would never fight his hyungs to get them to practice harder to be more focused you can tell by the look in his eye, he's in practice mode. Another bit of him that he gained from choir; he'll fool around and be the idiot he is up until the music starts to play (or even a little before). He however, doesn't control how the others conduct themselves because he knows it's not his place to say. Instead, he'll focus on controlling himself and getting everything just right.

Even the craziest will have some sort of authority figure. Since he's no longer living with his parents or his brother or his choir teacher or his senoirs in choir or... Okay he had a lot of authority figures, Min's new authority had become himself. While for the most part he is quite terrible at it, he does have some rules for himself that he has to follow. Being healthy is a must, another is not to scream so he doesn't damage his voice. It's okay to be surprised, while he may loud and jumpy and he isn't gong to risk tearing something by screaming. Dear lord no. Rules are meant to keep you safe afterall.

Evil, obnoxious, argumentative, assertive, predatory

What are maknae lines usually known for being. Young, loud, energetic, cute, annoying, evil, absolute devils... Okay so maybe not all maknae lines are like AGM's. Or at least like AGM's second youngest, Yoon Min. "The boy is the epitome of evil." Is one way to describe. Don't be fooled by his sparkling eyes or cute face. The boy loves to prank others what else is he suppose to do for fun? Other than that he can sometimes just be plain annoying. He can be like one of those people you wish would just shut up! What he actually talks about? No one listens, they just no it's going to irritate them.

While it's always nice whenever idols got the courage to speak their mind, Min may speak his mind a bit too much. Sure, he knows his place as one of the youngest in the group, that just means he won't order the others around. It doesn't mean anything when it comes to him fighting for his opinions, and boy does he have a lot of them. In his mind, if there's something he can do it's at least be able to tell his opinion and prove to others that he can be listened to. He's assertiviness doesn't help so much however, it can often looked at the wrong way and be seen as disrespectful. In all honesty, it's the only way he knows how to get his thoughts across: forcefully.

Other than that, Min can seem to be flat out dangerous. It's was just choir business. Sure, everyone was close, in accord, in harmony even. However, there was always a bit of unsaid competition. Who had the richest sounding voice, the loudest voice, the softest voice, who managed to get the most solos. It became a part of Min to hunt, snuff out the weak and end up on top.

FAMILY +
» Mother, Yoon Chaerin | 48 | Tailor | Loud, adventurous, fun | Like her son, Chaerin loves the thrill of having a good time. As a kid, it was always Min and Chaerin going out to do all the dangerous stuff while the other two stayed back and worried. Nowadays, Chaerin wishes that Min can keep having fun and sometimes sends practical jokes to him

» Father, Yoon Jinwoo | 50 | Nurse | Orderly, polite, protective | The residential worry wart of the family that kept himself in charge of keeping his wife and younger son alive. Jinwoo continues to worry for Min everyday, sending care gifts along with Chaerin's pranks including lots of vitamins and notes saying to remember to take them everyday. While the others may make fun of him, Min could care less knowing it would help him in the long run.

» Hyung, Yoon Sangmin | 23 | Botanist | Rational, crisp, persistant | Sangmin was always a bit like Jinwoo. However, Sangmin was never as warm. While him and his brother were close, Sangmin always appealed better to practice mode Min. While he doesn't exactly approve of Min's choice of career, during promotions he's always sending flowers and bouquets around for his little brother.

FRIENDS +
» Groupmates, AGM | Varies | Idol | Varies | Now, they don't necessarily hate him. It's just at times he can be a bit... Unbearable. Not to mention they do not appreciate his pranks and wish he would act more like he does when they're practicing. While some aren't afraid to lecture him to grow up, others are because of what he might manage to come up with.

» Church Buddy, Hong Jisoo | 21 | Idol | Cordial, gentleman, positive | These two actually before Min had debuted. When he was a trainee he knew once he debuted it would be harder to attend Mass on Sundays, not only because of schedule but because of fans. Min decided to then find a small chapel to attend Mass. Seventeen's Hong Jisoo seemed to have found it too. Jisoo and Min waited until after Min's debut to reveal their friendship and will often go out together.

» Best Friend, Lee Minhyuk | 18 | College Student (Music Theory) | Animated, proud, perfectionist | These two have been friend since the day Minhyuk joined choir when they were eleven. He was only two years behind Min training wise but the two tended to be a bit competitive despite their friendship. Both share their love for music but went on different paths with it. While the two have lost contact for now, Min wishes to see his best friend again soon.

OTHERS +
» Caretakers, BigHit Staff | Varies | Varies | Varies | At first, they were all fooled by his innocent angelic looks. However, as they watched the trainees slowly go mad from his prank they knew he was just a little . He's not allowed without supervision anymore (which just makes it more for him to try to prank people). However, they know he's very talented and has his own way of functioning so they try their best not to disrupt him when he's practicing.

» Sunbaes, BTS | Varies | Varies | Varies | Whether they love him or hate him they know who he is. They also know that Min's a little in love with Taehyung-sunbae after hearing Stigma, constantly trailing the older like a puppy. BTS never minded it because he never bothered them. Everyone's amazed how Min hasn't even tried to prank any of the sunbaes yet.

LIKES +
» Mug Recipes: They're awesome and no one can tell Min otherwise. On normal circumstances, he's the worst cook the world has seen. With a microwave however, he's pretty damn good. *

» BtoB: Min would honestly probably cry if he ever got to meet them. His love for them (especially Eunkwang) is great. Min admits his favorite part of them is how amazing their vocals are but they aren't very serious acting people

» Glitter: He will sadly admit to his habit of getting easily distracted the pretty substance. It's not that hard okay! It's shiny and sparkly and colorful...

» Chess: Bet you didn't see this coming did you? Afterall, isn't chess boring for the main vocal of AGM. No, no it's not. It's fun, and he likes it and why won't anyone play with him?!

» Jazz Music: Holy heck yeah. His favorite part about jazz is how rich and deep the singer's voice sounds. Min especially appreciates the warm tones in a person's voice.

DISLIKES +
» Spring and Fall: His two least favorite times of year because his terrible allergies. During this time Min is unusually quiet because he wants to save what he could can of his raspy, conjested voice.

» Make-up: Thanks to choir shows he's used to putting on make-up, doesn't mean he likes it. Especially eyeliner, it always makes his eyes water terribly and eventually cry.

» Lemons: There's truly no way to describe the way Min's face puckers when he eats anything sours. There's also no way to describe him when he's in the presence of lemons. While he's never revealed his hate for the fruit, Min's hands tend to cover his eyes when he's around lemons...

» Airplanes: While everyone already knows about practice Min vs. regular Min, no one knew about airplane Min until they first time they got on one. He refuses to sit by the window and wants to stay either next to the manager to the eomma/appa figure of the group. Again a mystery to everyone. (feel free to be creative with his fear of planes)

» Sharp Objects: Even Chaerin didn't let Min get to close to anything that could cut him. While they never really explained it to him his family has always told him to stay far away from anything sharp. This included piercings as well.

HABITS AND HOBBIES +
» Talks/Sings in his sleep: Not too loudly, but loud enough to be concerning.

» Playing piano: He's been self teaching himself through YouTube for the past four years now. He was already able to sight read before playing so the reading music part is easy, hitting the notes.. He's getting the hang of it.

TRIVIA +
» He is a Roman Catholic and attends church as regularly as possible. He'll volunteer to sing the mass when he can.

» Min tends to one of the most healthy members of AGM, actually not being a very big fan or sweets or fried food.

» His favorite genres of music are jazz and classical.

» The only foods he can cook are ramen and mug recipes.

» While Min has worn suits regularly as a choirboy, he never knew how to tie his own tie. To this day, one of the other members still has to do it for him

» Min is actually quite fragile physically, not only does he bruise easily but he also tends to be the most likely to catch a something or be affected by the weather.

» Despite how confident he is now, Min used to be insecure about singing because he didn't think of it as something that a man did.

» Min is often exploited for being a lot kinder when he's alone with only one other member. Particularly the leaders.

» On many occasions, Min has admitted that he loves s greatly despite annoying them terribly because he's very reliant on them.

STYLE

His fasion really shows what he probably never learned as a child. Just to list a few: to NOT tuck in his shirt, what shorts are and his doesn't need to put all the buttons on his shirt. Whenever he's asked about it, he'll immediately bring up choir and how he's used to having to wear suits and button ups all the way up. So really, choir made a lot of him. *

NICKNAMES +
» Minny | The name he uses to call himself when he's doing aegyo.

» English, Intermediate (good at pronounciation, bad vocab) | Since they did sing some English songs in his old choirl, learning how to prounce it was essential. Knowing what he was actually singing was another story.
