Running Man is dead...

I just found out that the show is firing Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo. I'm still hoping this is a prank, but it doesn't seem like it. Guess because their ratings are dropping, they want "fresh blood"? They may gain some new fans with whoever they hire to replace KJK and SJH (and Gary!), but I think they'll be losing a lot of their loyal fans because of this...

Read about it here.

According to other articles, it looks like they're doing a serious revamp and calling it "Season 2" (like they did with Family Outing).

***UPDATE: Forget the revamp. Looks like Running Man is actually dead according to this. RIP.

Yeah I saw that post. Supposedly it started off with "miscommunication" that led to the end of the show. Honestly, I haven't followed it in a while as they seem to keep re-casting the same people for guests (and very few celebrities). I'm sad it's over but, at the same time, I think this will give way to even better ideas and shows. I just hope the cast gets picked up in something else quick... they were just too awesome.

I haven't really been watching any Korean shows for a while, but it's so sad to hear that. Running man used to be one of my favorite shows, its so sad that a lot of things are changing.

the first article I read told me that Jihyo wanted to focus on her acting and Jongkook wanted to focus on his music career. but then another one said that the show fired them...
It was so heartbreaking to know that. I don't know.... what Running Man will look like after Jihyo and Jongkook are out from the show. I think it would not be the same and not as funny as now

I saw the news... It's a bit sad (and it would have been better if they had discuss with the whole staff and members to take a proper decision, instead of this mess), but I think without the original members the running man everyone knows can't be the same. Maybe they'll make a new version like family outing as you said, in my opinion it's highly possible because this show is one of the most rated and even inspires a chinese version.
Another comment: 2016 is really the end of era, but hey well, we don't know what's good in the future...

Honestly, when I found out about them firing Jongkook and Jihyo, I wished for them to just cancel the show because I can't watch RM with almost half the original members gone. Although I don't ever want Running Man to end, but I'd rather have it canceled than having new casts and all. I just- can't. Even with Gary's departure, I still can't move on yet and now they're firing both Jihyo and Jongkook in the most unprofessional way. So, with the news saying that they're ending the show, I think that's better than continuing with new members as if they didn't just kick out Jongkook and Jihyo.

I am actually a bit irritated about this. Like why would they fire Ji Hyo - the only regular woman on the show? Is it because the Monday Couple is no longer a thing? If so, how is that even fair? Ji Hyo is one of my favourite cast members because even though Gary and the others would "adore" her, she would not be a damsel in distress - she would play on equal terms with everyone else. If they fire her because the Monday Couple had broken up then doesn't that send the wrong signal to the viewers?
I don't know about you, but I'm going to stop watching the show in protest.
Anyway, I think it's funny how they say they want fresh blood, but then fires the younger cast members...
But poor Kookie and Ji Hyo, they didn't deserve the treatment they've gotten... :/

I don't think it would be easy to hire new members, given that everybody knows how the original members were 'kicked out'. Even Kang Hodong, who was offered a position in the new season of RM, declined the offer. I wonder how did the production crew get such confidence to do this. Nevertheless, it's not going to be any easier for them
