with the face of a pure angel, that's exactly the personality junghwa portrays when the cameras are on. she's always cheerful, full of smiles and giggles -- she often comes off as a bubbly, innocent girl that you may mistake as a dumb blonde. on variety shows, she seems very girlish and has a strong feminine scent. she's the softhearted maknae, the one who can easily be brought to tears and is so caring. on-cam, she's like a cloud; unable to be touched, so fragile and precious.

 

on stage, junghwa's cuteness doesn't die but is accentuated with iness. her presence on stage is unmissable; once she starts performing, she'll have your eyes glued on her. she knows how to flirt with the crowd, she keeps her sweet image all the while making everyone drool as she dances.

 

 

 

but damn is she tired of acting so sweet all the time. her own charming giggle has become sickneing to her.
once the cameras are off, the real junghwa shows up. exid fans look up to hani and le as the oppas; little do they know that park junghwa, the epitome of femininity, is actually the 'manliest' of them all. she's rougher, more brutal and fearless off-camera; being y and cute? not her thing. she prefers being irritatingly loud, laughing with wide open, eating with one leg propped up -- these true habits of her all take place behind the scenes. all the people sitting in front of tv and laptop screens have no clue that she swears like a sailor and that she wishes that she could just chop all her hair off. people think she's sensitive and emotional when really, she doesn't give a damn. she's sarcastic, too, she doesn't like stupid questions and for her, sarcasm is the best way to deal with any form of hate/negativity.

 

she's extremely direct; she's straightforward and says what she wants, even if she'll hurt other people's feelings. she chooses the truth even when the truth hurts like hell. she's also a stubborn rebel; she isn't good at listening to orders, she listens when she wants to and she does what she wants. she loves breaking rules and getting into trouble is no longer a big deal for her; she enjoys the rush of adrenaline, she likes talking back, she loves arguing. she's confrontational; she isn't happy about something? she'll say it and she'll settle it right then and there. she has quite the temper too; she doesn't get sad easily but she can become furious in the split of a second. she will hurt you and she won't feel the slighest bit of remorse about it.

 

 

 

however, there are certain traits of her that she keeps whether she'll be on tv or not.

despite not giving a care about anything, she's loyal to the people she loves. she'll be there for you every single time you need her and she puts the people she cares about over herself. she'd do anything for her people, absolutely anything even if she'll get hurt.

she's emotionally strong; she doesn't get thrown down simply. she isn't one to give up and always remains positive through the harshest thunderstorms. she faces each challenge, each hardship bravely.

she's also the same fun-loving, crazy and chaotic girl you'd see on tv and off. she's so much fun and joy to have around; she's up for any adventure, no matter how insane, and she's always full of life.

junghwa comes from an ordinary, average but happy and close-knitted family. she has her two parents and a younger brother who just graduated from high school. they're financially stable and has no major drama; just usual family banter that settles without an apology needed.

junghwa's family has been supportive of her dreams from the very beginning when she showed potential in the showbiz industry. her parents are very cool, believing that their kids should be allowed to achieve their own dreams. her parents and her brother are very supportive and proud of her success. they also meet up weekly when junghwa isn't busy with her schedule and she's sure to call her parents at least every two days and her brother every week.

 

 

 

junghwa didn't instantly start off into music. she actually began with acting; she was trained at a drama school in 3rd grade and featured on the drama three wives as a child actress.

after debuting as an actress, junghwa found love in dancing and began attending a dance academy near her house. from then on, dancing became her everything and she risked her studies for her passion.

at 10, her dance teacher suggested for her to try auditioning for jyp entertainment. wanting nothing more than to make her passion her living, she auditioned at that very young age and was accepted. her training at jyp lasted five long, harsh years -- she was one of the most hardworking trainees there were. she'd be the first one to arrive at the practice room and the last one to leave. however, though she was one of the best dancers present, she tended to get in trouble for behavioural problems. she went to places she wasn't supposed to go, she didn't greet her seniors properly, she got into fights with other trainees. after one too many disciplinary strikes plus the fact that her singing apparently wasn't up to jyp's standards, she was kicked out of the company and needless to say, she was heartbroken for a long time. she knew it was her own fault but she was still sad, feeling like she wasn't worthy enough to be an idol after all.

a year after that, she was contacted by a fellow ex-jyptrainee, asking if junghwa would be interested in training for a new girl group under a small, barely known company. with assurance from her parents, junghwa agreed, determined to be a better trainee and person in general. she managed to fix most of her attitude (she was still a hardheaded rebel) and made extra effort to improve her singing; she attended vocal lessons until late night, even when her boss told her she'd debut as a rapper. she worked her hardest, through all the tears and pain, and soon enough, debuted with exid. exid first consisted of 6 members, but after just a few months, half the group left, leaving le, hani and junghwa. with not much hope invested in exid's future, two new members (solji and hyerin) were added, junghwa switched entirely to a vocalist and they came back.

 

a couple of comebacks later, exid's iconic up & down wasn't doing well and they were actually in talks of disbandment. just when the girls, their staff and their families had given up, hani's fancam went viral and exid's popularity shot up, saving their careers. that was the beginning of their peak success; of course, it got pretty annoying when it was mostly hani = exid while the other members weren't appreciated as much. even hani wasn't satisfied about it, knowing that her girl friends deserve better too. hence, when junghwa was called for the mix project, they were very supportive of her -- "time to show that exid isn't just about hani," said by the ever so humble hani herself.

 

 

 

due to the careless mistake of one of the mix members who slipped out about the two's secret relationship, this rumour started and the explosion was bigger than taejung's scandal. junghwa received extreme backlash from armys and netizens alike for having scandals with two bts members in the same year. in fear of hurting the people around them and hurting each other, junghwa and jimin painfully break up before their respective companies release articles denying this scandal.

solji's the eldest of their five-membered family and hence, babies junghwa the most. they have a very mother-teen daughter like relationship; arguing over small things but making up quickly. solji often nags junghwa, worrying over the younger one and watching over her like a mother hawk.

 

  

 

le's the badass unnie of the team, brave and strong. junghwa and le are nicknamed as tom and jerry due to the amount of bickering they do; junghwa's very playful while le has no time for junghwa's nonsense. nonetheless, le's very protective over junghwa and junghwa secretly looks up to le.

 

  

 

hani's junghwa's visual partner; they're both pretty but don't give two hoots about their image. they have a lot of fun together; hani's the crazy older sister figure for junghwa, setting not a very good example for the younger one. junghwa admires hani a whole lot and seeks advice from her,

 

  

 

hyerin is junghwa's bestest friend on the planet. the two maknaes; the cute ones compared to their y unnies. they share everything together since they understand each other most. hyerin dotes on junghwa while junghwa seeks comfort in hyerin because hyerin knows just how to cheer her up during her darkest times.

 

  

 

taecyeon and junghwa are childhood friends; he plays as an important older brother figure to her. he's protective over her like she's still a little girl and she, in return, allows herself to be spoiled by him. taecyeon can detect a boy that doesn't deserve junghwa faster than she can. he's like her bodyguard; he's also very proud of how far she's come.

 

  

 

taehyung and junghwa have known of each other's existence since bts' debut, but have only been able to exchange short conversations while backstage. it's during mix that they have the chance to get to know each other better and once they became friends, they became inseperable. put them together and you have all levels of chaos and sunshine. they're arguably the closest in mix, especially since they're of the same age, are similar in terms of personalities and are completely comfortable together; they're perfectly platonical and taehyung's the number one jungmin shipper.

 

  

 

sehun is an embarrassing mistake junghwa wishes she can just forget. debuted in the same year, sehun's had his eyes on junghwa ever since. he first courted her in 2014 and they became close more-than-lovers-less-than-friends until 2015, when they started to date secretly. they really liked each other but sehun was often too busy for her, leaving junghwa looking desperate and pathetic most times. he barely had time to answer her texts and every time they promised for a date, he'd either have to leave halfway or doesn't come at all. she broke it off with him after a shameful six weeks. until now, sehun's trying to win her back but fails as she already has her attention on another beautiful man.

 

► junghwa holds the position as main dancer, vocalist and sub-rapper in exid.
► her fashion style is mostly y-casual; while sleeping, she likes sleeping in as little clothes possible, so wake-up missions are a bit dangerous when it comes to her.

►  "we're just getting to know each other!" junghwa chuckles. "although we're still in the early stages, i can tell that we'll get along well. i hope the members will take good care of me, too, as i'm used to being the maknae of my group."

 

she smiles when she recalls her closest friend in the group. "so far, i'm the closest to v since we're the same age and we often meet on music shows. our personalities are also alike, so it didn't take us long to be comfortable with each other. we're really good friends now!"
