expanded personality: if people were to really believe that monsters did exist then under any circumstance, no one would suspect marinette to be one. why? because she doesn't look like a monster and doesn't act like one, either. to the humans, she's a sweet girl who's loved by everyone but to the monsters, she's just a "weak & clumsy" girl. who says monsters are bad, wicked and snakey? well, everyone says so but not all of them are. monsters are just like humans, they have emotions and different feelings, personalities, thoughts, etc. and marinette here, too, is different than your typical witch. she isn't wicked, she doesn't posion snow white and kill people with magic.
marinette has a generous heart and she loves helping other people whether they ask for a hand first or not, she's always there whenever someone needs help. she's a kind-hearted person as you can see, she treats everyone the same: nice and gentle. she takes care really good of everyone around her even if she hates that person or that person hates her. sometimes, she's like a kind little sister, sometimes, a clumsy older sister. marinette is a simple girl who loves small waves and the faint smell of flowers; she's gentle and well-mannered. she's also a forgiving person, she doesn't get mad at people easily and it's rather rare for her to get mad at someone. forgiving someone's mistake makes her a kind soul but hell, she even steps out and take the blame all to herself if someone's in trouble as well and at that point, no one really can tell if she's just too nice or too stupid. the answer is simple, she just wants to make everyone happy.
marinette is a free-spirited girl who doesn't really care about the consequences and all the bad things and problems. she enjoys doing whatever she likes at the moment and she just does whatever she wants. sometimes, she can be reckless because of that. she's an easy-going person, although 90% girls in this world are stubborn but obviously, she belongs to the other 10%. she accepts and listens to other's opinions and never thinks that she's right, which is why marinette is an insecure girl, she isn't confident in her self and her own decisions. sometimes, she finds herself weak and annoying for that and although she's considered as an intelligent girl, marinette doesn't trust her good choices, yeah, she can be very indecensive.
marinette trusts people easily. mostly because she has never doubted anyone, or, rarely does. she finds no reason in not trusting someone and she's very bad at telling who's lying and who's not. she's just stupid like that but please bear with her, she only believes in the good things, or, most of the time, tries to, which is why she never doubts anyone. marinette is also a very nosy girl, she likes to stick her nose in other's business and wants to be that witch who knows everything in the world.
background: marinette was born into a wealthy witch family near a crowded town. she's the second youngest among her five sisters. the family included the daughters, the parents, two aunts and an uncle. they were a happy witch family but not marinette's father. he was evil, he was wicked, he was what people imagined a monster to be and he had killed many innocent souls before. marinette never understood why should they kill people because she usually went to the town to buy groceries and stuff ( witches eat whatever others ear ) and marinette had many friends there. she thought humans were amazing. therefore, when asked to cast a spell on an innocent passenger who accidentally peed in front of their mansion, she couldn't do it. marinette's father wasn't happy with her reaction but there wasn't anything she could do about it. she had always been like that, she could never bring hereslf to kill a human.
so her father himself turned the man into a cockroach and stepped on it. he looked at her coldly and left the mansion to a witches meeting in somewhere who knew with his wife, aunts and uncle, leaving poor marinette and her other three sisters to comfort her inside the mansion. she wasn't as strong as her sisters, although their power were the same but her sisters could kill. she? she couldn't.
she believe that humans were innocent.
when marinette turned 16, something terrible happened. someone saw her sisters used magic in the town and at night, the whole town dragged their weapons over marinette's mansion to kill the witches. her uncle told her and the sisters to hide but marinette understood that nothing good was gonna happen if the adults went out and kill everyone so she herself ran out in front of the mansion. everyone was shocked to see the sweet little girl kim chaeyeon to be at the witches' place. "everyone, please, even though we are witches but we never hurt anyone...! so please, don't hurt us."
"the witches killed my pigs!" her sisters.
"the witches killed my husband last night and all he did was asking them if they needed help!" her father, and she couldn't tell if her mother or aunt was with him.
"the witches are evil and they hurt us, which is why we are here to revenge, we aren't bad people, chaeyeon." she heard a familiar voice. son jinhwan, a boy in the town that confessed to her. "they are so please come here, we'll protect you, you don't have to protect them."
marinette knew they were thinking she was a good person but before she could say anything, she suddenly felt dizzy and started to loose balance. at that moment, she heard her father's voice: "i'm sorry for causing this mess, mary. luckily you are different. if you have a chance to live then i'll do anything for you to get that chance."
when she woke up, she wasn't at her mansion anymore. she woke up because she heard the birds chirping outside the window and the smell of sweet bread. jinhwan walked in with breakfast on his hands, smiled at her warmly. "good morning." and she asked him where the witches were. "none of them survived. i don't know, that's what my father told me but i'm sure that at least two of them got away but don't worry, everything's over now. the witch hunt is over, the bad ones were punished and burned." there were tears on marinette's face but she didn't cry out loud. jinhwan quickly wiped those tears away, he looked worried. "jinhwan, are monsters bad? do people always kill monsters?" if he knew who she was, would he kill her, too?
but jinhwan only smiled gently. "nah, idiot. i believe that monsters aren't always bad. somes are nice and they deserve the good time, somes are bad and they deserve to be burned." and she cried. marinette cried in his arms, feeling relieved because she was always right: not all monsters are bad and not all humans are bad.
when marinette and jinhwan turned 20, he died because of a war and marinette ran away on her own. there were times when she was attacked but she used her magic to kill the bad ones. she felt horrible, of course but she understood that they deserved to be killed. slowly, everything was getting settled and so was her life, she got herself a place to live and days passed by to the present time. right now, marinette is living in an apartment and she works as a florist. sometimes, she dreams about jinhwan but she knows she must be happy for him.
