Yes, Sangmin's hair is pink. No, he is not an idol or a trainee. Sometimes people just want pink hair. It's been a while since he's a had a touch up and the once vibrant pink has been reduced to an almost pastel color, the top of his head still being a bit brighter for some reason. He's often seen with glasses (top icon) and his signature silver hoop earrings.

❃ "I'm tough guy" He would say, adjusting his sweater to hide his button up under, most likely plaid. "I'm a rebel." He says, sitcking his hands into the front pockets of his khaki pants. "Stop laughing at me!" He grumbles, straightening his collar to the upteenth time.

PERSONALITY :

Yoon Sangamin. Jyeosaeng's residential hipster took-a-like, but just a grumpy grandpa. Despite he's reputation in the town for acting much older for his age, as well as just being a grump, most know he is actually the opposite of his name. In fact, he's one of the most persistent people they would ever meet. Once Sangmin has a goal, he will stop at nothing to acheive it. He simply has never liked to give up because it makes feel like he didn't try hard enough. Of course that's never a good thing. No matter how pushy at times it may seem, rest assure it's just so he can do what needs to be done.

At least most of these goals an good things. The majority of them being for helping out a friend. Being Sangming, he'll probably deny it's for any nice charitable reason and give his usual broody excuses. 'I'm not doing this for you', 'Well I'm not a psychopath, stupid, 'Someone had to help... Stupid.'. It's because he's in denial of his own gooey hard of gold that genuinely likes to help people out. Afterall, wouldn't that ruin his "image" of being a grumpy old man.

If anything, over a grandpa, he could probably also be the one of the nerds to the town. As one of the ajumma's would say,

"He went to college in Seoul, what a smart boy.

"You know that Yoon boy went to college at Seoul, what are you doing?"

"Sangmin-ah, smart boy, smart boy, you should have seen him back in high school. What a nerd!"

That's right. Sangmin was that kid. The one that all the parents and grandparents would tell their children to be more like whenever they saw their scores. He was the one that people would brag about knowing whenever other's awed their own high scores. As said before, he always gives a helping hand and one of the main things he gets asked is help, or tutoring. Don't worry, Sangmin has a tutoring license so he's not breaking law or anything.

What they say is definitely true, back in high school he had class president every year for having in the highest marks in the school. Sangmin was always an efficient studier and tended to learn a little more than he actual needed to, but it's okay, it just meant more learning for him. Which in Sangmin's eyes, that always a good thing. Hence, why he's tended to be closer to the ghosts of the town than the actual people. Ghost have been around for a lot longer than living people, therefore, they know a bit more (for the most part). At least this means he's also very trustworthy, probably better to let him help handle any situations. Unlike many people, he doesn't let his emotions get in the way of important decisions and does what needs to be done. Sangmin more into the logical side of the story, over the person's expressiveness and crazy hand gestures to decide how to defuse. Hence, why most of his friend will go him when they're done need emotional support and need someone to fix everything. It's not as easy as he makes it look.

He takes on the strict older brother role quite well when it comes to dealing with his little brother and younger friends. There have been many occasions where the parents have trusted him to look at them and they thought they might be able to get away with sneaking out. Sangmin being Sangmin however, that was assured to not happen. They could beg and bribe all they want, but at the end of the day Sangmin will remained unturned. It's almost impossible to get him to actually feel bad for you, not that he's unsympathetic, he just listens to instructions really, really well.

You better treat him with respect too because he would expect it as your hyung/oppa. Though on normal circumstances most people continue to follow the hierarchy of age, there are those few little s people that think more "modernly" and try not to. This is where the grandpa part of Sangmin comes out a bit more. He won't stand, "these new ways" that people have. Yet another reason why he has preferred the company of ghosts. Though by appearance they may be his age, most of them are much older than he is spiritually and can relate back to not understanding, or liking, the new ways of society. Whether you like it or not, if he's your sunbae he expects you to speak formally to him.

Would you expect a 22 year old man, with a masters degree in plant biology to be the owner of a flower shop in the small town of Jyeosaeng? Not many people do. Believe it or not, being a botanist has been Yoon Sangmin's dream job since he was a kid. Now he's doing just that, to the full extent. He's currently carrying out his planned dream career methodically and according to a plan he made in the second and third years in high school. It's not strange, or somewhat nerdy, it's just really well thought out life.

Speaking of life. It's quite ironic that Sangmin in an athethist in a world where ghosts exists. Despite this fact he's acknowledged God(s) as stories and myths told by people many years ago to be able to explain their world before there was science. Luckily, he has the brain to never tell anyone of his non correlation with religion, but that doesn't necessarily mean no one can feel him cringing over random people talking about how ghost were 'sinners' or some other religious terms that he didn't understand as well. They're ghosts because they didn't die happy deaths and that's that.

In case it was hard to tell, Yoon Sangmin is a very serious person. That seems to play in every part of him: having his life planned out at the age of 17, writing, speaking, everything. He thinks carefully through whatever he's saying but he doesn't stop and hesistate. As a natural quick thinker, his responses are immediate and straight to the point. At times it may appear more broody and cold. On the bright side, at least you're spared of all the unnecesary side story and wasting your life listening to unnecessary details. At least that's what he would say.

As well as persistent, Sangmin is known for being stubborn. While it might not sound like there's a difference; it's the context really that varies them. Persistence, it sounds as if it's a good thing, as if Sangmin would work towards his goals no matter how many obstacles are in the way. Then there's stubborness, just the sound of the word gives you a bad feeling. Like Sangmin were hard-headed and doesn't listen to anyone. As if he doesn't care about other's thoughts are feelings in order to persue these goals. So which is he? Just a little bit of both.

Now, we're at the good part; where you get to decide if you truly hate him or not. While the elderly of the town may favor him, they just see the fancy degree and cutesy flower shop. They don't see his uncanny knack of sticking his nose where it shouldn't be. The boy cannot mind his own business to save his life, even if it goes against his plans. Yoon Sangmin has always found a way to barge into other's lives, especially their problems; whether they like it or not. There's these things called boundries that the man had sadly yet to learn how to respect. Paying no mind to them as he busts recklessly into things he might not even understand.

Normally, I'm sure people actually wouldn't mind the helping hand. However, it can be a bit bothersome when the person that's asking you if you'd like help has the greatest resting face in the world. It would help Sangmin greatly if he were to smile more often. There should be nothing scary about a man with pink hair that owns a small flower shop in small town, should there? Well there is when he just knows about things that you wouldn't dare to tell anyone because of his bad habits of looking into other people's business. So when a man with pink hair walks up to them and asks if he could help with their problem (with detail), it's frightening to say the least.

You know what might also help Yoon Sangmin from scaring people away? A nicer tone would be very much appreciated. Despite how smart and sophisticated he may seem at times; Sangmin still forgets to think before he speaks. As a result, people get confused whether Sangmin is helping them or mocking them. It's can be hard to tell when he helps you up then says, "Clumsy much?". Or when he's helping a friend carry groceries then suddenly blurts, "You're probably too lazy to take them all yourself anyway." The list could go on, but I'll spare all the cringe-worthy details.

Another piece of advice for Sangmin? Loosen up a bit, from always having a plan to his business like traits, Sangmin is overly wound up and tight. Often reacting stiffly to strangers or anyone that he has declared a problem. He's awkward and hates any sort of physical contact, often sitting very "compact" in his seat if he was sitting next to someone. His younger brother, Min, often compares him to raisins because of this. Both Sangmin and raisins are puckered and dry (he also mentioned that's why some people don't like him).

Not that he actually cares what other people think of him. In fact, it's rare for him to care what anyone thinks of him. While it may seem like it at time because he's urges to go out and help people, Sangmin doesn't even care of the compliments he gets for that. He will still be that shoulder for anyone to cry on, just don't go to him seeking emotional support. If anything, he can at least provide advice.

BACKGROUND :

Despite how calm and passive Yoon Sangmin may seem now. That wasn't always the case. Actually, it was the complete opposite. As a child, Sangmin was notorious for being one of the loudest, most misbehaved children in all of Jyeosaeng. Everyone knew that Sangmin wasn't necessarily a bad person however. Turns out he got his mother's incredibly short temper, and unlike her had yet to learn how to control it. Luckily, he was pretty wimpy for a kid and couldn't barely hurt a fly if he tried. So while his parents did try to help him get his temper under control, overall, they weren't that concerned of the safety of the other children.

While he lacked a lot physically, Sangmin always had a loud voice. Due to it being the only way he could properly project his rage; he used it a lot. You could tell where he was blocks away because his voice was so loud that birds would often fly in the opposite direction of him. His friends didn't mind it, they even joked it would be the only was that they could hear him (this made him yell more). Sometimes, his friends would even try to yell louder than him, a contest that was over from the start.

Sangmin only started to give an effort in controlling his temper when his mother announced that she was pregnant. He was about five at the time his parents sat him down and told him that he was important he tries to stay calm around his mom and the baby. His parents were soon followed by others, his teacher; his friends' parents; and his babysitter, about learning to control his anger and the way he reacts when he does get angry. Sangmin got the message loud and clear, his loud voice was never heard from again.

The day Sangmin little brother, Yoon Min was born, was the day that started the slow evolution to the Sangmin we know today. Min was born with moderate hemophilia A, their mom was a carrier and while Sangmin managed to avoid the disease; his little brother wasn't as lucky. Sangmin spent many nights over at friends' houses, while his parents did trust that he was learning to control himself, they didn't want him around to experience any of his little brother's pain.

Min and Sangmin only really started to bond when Min was four and Sangmin was eight. Min was able to walk now, but preferred not to because sometimes his joints would bleed. Upon discovering smaller bits about what's happening to Min, through a little eavesdropping and begging the neighbors, Sangmin came to Min's beck and call. He always has tissues with him for when he had nose bleeds and made sure to remind his parents to give Min his medicine (they knew without him but it's the thought that counts).

The infamous temper that Yoon Sangmin once had diminished. After years of surpressing and holding it all in; one day, the feeling just died all together. Anything that he had held inside and never allowed to be expressed, was just gone. It no longer mattered to him, none of it mattered. Sangmin was fourteen years old when it happened, Min was nine. Now knowing much more about Min's disease, Sangmin was overprotective of his little brother. If someone were to accidentally bump into Min, it took a lot in Sangmin to not get angry at them, but instead check to make sure Min wasn't badly bruised. Sangmin began to redirect his anger towards helping people.

Despite his family's fear for him, Min went to school. Most people were aware that Min was fragile and were careful around him, not to mention he also had his teachers looking out for him, so Sangmin wasn't too worried for his little brother. Accidents always happen though. One day, Min got a paper cut and began to bleed out. The teachers rushed him to the hospital with Sangmin and their family right behind. While Min was getting a transfusion, Sangmin waited outside in the waiting room while the docter talked to his parents. He was angry, and thought to himself, 'but who am I angry at?', the paper, for cutting his brother; himself, for not being there; the teacher, for not watching carefully? That's when the realization struck him and his anger died. There was no point in being angry, simply because there was too much to be angry at. Not to mention it was distracting him from his real priority which was Min.

Thanks to their neighbors, Min was aware that his brother used to have a bad temper. Thankfully, he never teased for it, in fact; it added to Min's admiration for his hyung because it showed how much Sangmin was willing to change for him. Naturally, Sangmin would deny this and say that everyone was telling him to, but anyone that knew the Yoon family well enough would know that was a lie.

Sangmin's love for plants came to him on his fifteenth birthday. For Sangmin's fifteenth birthday, Min, with the help of some of their neighbors, gave Sangmin a garden. The was the neighbors', Dawon and Eunsa, idea. At the time, Sangmin tended to complain that he needed a hobby because he was bored, but at the same time had an excuse for not joining any hobbies his parents suggested. He couldn't go to practice or rehersal or anything related because then he would be leaving Min alone while their parents are at work. Eunsa first came up with the idea because it would be at home so Min would be there and aside from shears (which Min knows not to touch) it doesn't have anything that will necessarily harm Min.

The gift, was garden plots in their backyard (their parents hid it by telling Sangmin they were doing a plan for patio). Alongside with the plots Min bought him the basic supplies to garden: shears, a trowel, watering can, gloves, a rake, a hoe, and a pair of loopers. We can't forget the plants of course, with some inspiration from a book Min found about gardening, Min chose plants that he thought especially suited his hyung-

Agrimony — Meaning thanfulness

White Heather — Meaning protection

Yellow Rose — Meaning friendship or undying love

Lavender — Meaning devotion

Blue Violet — Meaning faithfulness

Cherry Blossom — Meaning gentleness

He was shocked to say the lesat when he recieved the gift. Of course, it was from Min so he had to give gardening a try. While he didn't love it instantly, he didn't hate it. He and Min got to spend quality time and Min especially liked to ramble about the flowers he gave Sangmin. As he learned more from his brother about the meaning and symbolism behind each one, Sangmin found himself growing to like gardening much more. When summer came around, Sangmin attempted to grow fruits and vegetables. Much to his surprise, he was quite successful, Dawon jokingly telling him he had a natural green thumb.

The secret behind Sangmin's talent for garden was simple; he was patient. Without his overbearing temper, Sangmin could spend hours outside even if the plants didn't need to be tended. The smell of wet grass and soil made him feel at peace and he'd occassionally fall asleep. It became a thing for Sangmin to recieve something for his garden every year. Over the years, he recieved saplings, seeds, better tools, a bird house and many pots to have plants indoors.

As for Sangmin's unique interest in antiques and ghosts. That hadn't arose until he was nineteen and in his first year of college in Seoul. When he was a child, Sangmin never actually paid them much mind, afterall for most of his childhood Min was his priority. He was aware of their existence but didn't think of it as it seemed so normal in Jyeosaeng.

However, Seoul is different from Jyeosaeng. In the city, everything was new, or being changed to become newer, shiner. Anything Sangmin would recieve from Seoul, it would come in a shiny tin with embellishment, anything he got from Jyeosaeng, his family would send it in a rustic basket with mini cardboard boxes wrapped in bows. It being from his family, Sangmin naturally liked gifts from Jyeosaeng better. In fact, he found himself liking anything from Jyeosaeng better.

The final push into his interest had been his break and going home to Jyeosaeng for the first time. Sangmin decided to visit an antique shop. He talked to the owner for long time, asking about random objects and their history. The stories always fascinated him, how objects seemed to outlive their owners. What he had found the most fascinating were the mysteries, the ones that the owner admittedly didn't know where they were from or even how they got into Downtown Antiques. Sangmin had come to the conclusion that ghosts would be the only way to figure out some of these stories and hence grew a liking towards them. As much as he would like to talk to the ghosts, it was an unsaid rule among those living in town that you weren't meant to talk to them. His parents telling him and Min over and over again to simply walk past them if they ever encounter them.

Sangmin didn't start coming regularly to the shop until after he graduated from Seoul University and moved into an apartment in Jyeosaeng. The apartment, was conviently located above a closed office space that soon became his gardening shop, Sproutzo. Everyday, during his lunch break after all the plants have been checked over. Sangmin would walk over to Downtown Antiques and have lunch with the owner. The two had grown to be friends and moved from antiques to talking about their daily lives.

Note about Sproutzo: The shop itself where the costumers are allowed is generally small, with simple counter and register and plants everywhere (reference). The back is makeshift indoor garden, Sangmin having to get the walls replaced with white tinted windows in order for sunlight to get in.

One week, Sangmin couldn't help but notice a woman that tends to be at the store all the time, he even occasionally caught her staring at him. He eventually asks the owner if she was his daughter, the owner in return had laughed and shook his head, calling her a 'special guest'. Upon further inspection, Sangmin realized she was a ghost. It was more than tempting to talk to her, afterall the owner didn't seem to mind her being around, maybe he could approach her.

The ghost seem to have other plans, while she stared at him, him ever looking at her or just stepping to close would cause her to fade away, but become visible again when he was far away enough. This makes him even more determined to get to know her, afterall; if she's going to stare at him they might as well talk to each other. So Sangmin continued to come everyday during lunch, often trying to sneak up on her, but she always noticed. Sometimes durng his conversations with the owner he'd quickly turn her away, but she's always vanish, then turn back to the owner like nothing happened. Sangmin started coming more than once a day, he'd bring coffee in for the owner in the morning, have lunch, then go back after closing his shop for final attempt to talk to her while the owner was in his back office getting ready to close up.

On many occasions Sangmin has jokingly told her that he would one day stay in the shop after it close just so they could talk, and by the looks of his close relationshiop with the owner, it wouldn't be surprising in the future.

LIKES :

Tea — Who needs coffee when they can have a nice refreshing cup of tea? Tea was always much more convienant for Sangmin because he could grow all the herbs he needed and he actually prefers the taste. His two most favorite kinds would be lemon grass and oksusu cha.

History — These was already a given, but history had actually been one of his favorite subjects in school as he always had a like for story telling, especially when it was about the real world and how everything use to be.

Baby's Breath — Sangmin's favorite type of flower as they reminded him of his little brother since it meant innocence. Sprigs of baby breath in a bouquet have become a signature for Sproutzo and they can be found even in his apartment.

Bananas — Despite the fact he cannot grow them (yet, he has plans on having a greenhouse just outside of town for plants requiring special conditions) bananas continue to be his favorite fruit. He likes them best because they aren't tart like berries and not too juicy like melon.

Butterflies — Yes, Sangmin does have butterflies in the back indoor garden room of Sproutzo, he ordered a variety pack of garden butterflies online. He likes keeping them his little secret that even Min doesn't know. In his free time, Sangmin plays a game with himself to see how many butterflies he can get to land on his hand.

Romance Novels — A major secret he hopes no one ever finds out. There's really no way to explain it, he just loves love, reading the passion between two people. Sangmin is most emotional when he is reading a romance. His favorite is Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong.

Mini Wood Carvings— If Sangmin had enough faith in himself, he would attempt to take up wood carving. However, not only does he think he would cut himself but he'd rather not have sharp wittle tools lying around when Min's around. He especially likes the smooth ones that are shaped like animals

Mornings — Unlike the rest of his family; Sangmin is an avid day person. His mom once joked that he was becoming a plant since he liked being out in the sun the most. Personally, Sangmin prefers being warm in the morning over the cold nights without light.

Eddy Kim — Easily one of his favorite singers, ironically Sangmin has never been a fan of loud things (even as a child). Eddy Kim has a soft and gentle voice that Sangmin has fallen in love with his favorite song being Slow Dance.

Being Alone — As strange as this might sound, Sangmin prefers the company of plants. Afterall, the scents of vanilla and lavender are much better than the loud voices of having human company.

DISLIKES :

Sharp Objects — One of the biggest threats to his little brother, the only ones that Sangmin approves of are gardening tools, cooking utensils and scissors. When his brother is visiting he always makes sure that everything is covered so he can accidentally cut himself.

Winter — Not only can Sangmin not handle the cold, but neither can his shop. It makes him sad seeing trees completely bare of all their leaves and flowers gone. In the winter, he's always bundled up.

Big Cities — Despite his four years in the capital, Sangmin continues to have an intense hatrd for the city. Too loud, not to mention it smelled terrible at times. Everywhere he looked was gray or some other dark color, no greens or brightness unless the shiny reflections counted.

Ice Cream — Believe me, I know what you're thinking. Sadly, it is possible if the person hates the cold enough. Sure enough, Sangmin really dislikes the cold, including ice cream. Everyone calls him crazy for it; he doesn't really mind because it kind of makes sense. Sangmin just can't get past the coldness.

Technology — He may have a phone and a computer but the basics are about all he knows. As said before he is quite old fashioned is terrible when it comes to any of the 'fancy stuff', Min often has to help his hyung when it comes to his laptop.

Aconite — Easily his least favorite flower, for a very simple reason. Despite their georgous appearance; they actually symbolize misanthropy. He never has and never will plant them.

Celebrity Scandals — Though he doesn't care much for celebrities in general, some of the regulars at Sproutzo are constantly gossiping about celebrity scandals. At times, he wishes people would just leave them alone, because if it were to be any other person; people wouldn't care as much.

Messiness — It's safe to say that Yoon Sangmin is "a bit" of a neat freak. Despite the fact his apartment may look a bit like a jungle, it's actually well-ordered and pristine. Whenever he sees a mess he'll automatically try to clean it up.

Cliches — As much as Sangmin is a er for romance novels, he's only a er for the good ones. Frankly, he's read enough bad boy meets good girl or vice versa stories. When he reads, he'd appreciate a unique story.

Dancing — For starters, the most experience he has in dancing is that awkward swaying partner dance from school dances. He cannot and will not dance, no matter how much anyone (including Min) tries to make him.

HOBBIES :

Gardening — Though it may now be his occupation, Sangmin still considers it a hobby because he enjoys gardening. Since he lives in an apartment he manages with his many potted plants as well as the plants downstairs in Sproutzo. However, he goes to his parents' house frequently since he still has his garden there along with trees (and to visit family of course).

Cooking/Baking — Sangmin is honestly shocked that he even knows how to cook. It started when Eunsa was lecturing him how he needed to be eating more than takeout or his parents' cooking every night. At first he had only some okay stir fry, until he realized he knew how to garden fruits and vegetables. He's much better at baking than cooking. Over the past year has grown the vast collection of cooking utensils.

HABITS :

Sniffing — Over his experience of gardening, the sense of smell became one of Sangmin's favorites. Strangely enough, his first impression of a person is usually their smell, most have yet to grow used to hearing his loud sniffs.

Pursing — While Sangmin is rarely angry anymore, that doesn't mean things don't annoy him. The thinner his lips get the more likely a very ugly side of him will come out.

Humming — Sangmin mainly hums when he's alone in his garden, it's out of habit since sometimes it feels too quiet when he's by himself. He usually hums something by Eddy Kim or Baek Yerin.

TRIVIA :

❃ Sangmin has a cat. She's a somali named Anri, he adopted her within his first month back to Jyeosaeng. Anri prefers to stay inside either the apartment or downstairs garden; like her owner she likes to be alone.

He learned that sadly; there is a limit to the number of plants in the house. Instead of having so many plants, he collects candles, most of them are either dessert or plant scented.

❃ There's usually three places that Sangmin is usually: his apartment building, Downtown Antiques or his parents and Min's house.

❃ Without a doubt, Sangmin would have become a hemotologist if he didn't become a botanist.

❃ Sangmin actually has a slight fear of sharp objects, not just because of Min's condition, he genuinely is concerned for his own safety around them as well.

❃ Up until he learned the ghost at Downtown Antiques name, Sangmin had nicknamed her 파란 장미 or blue rose, meaning mystery.

Sangmin likes all fruits except for apples.

❃ He has never been in a romantic relationship with anyone and isn't particularly interested in a relationship anyway.

❃ He usually falls asleep anywhere but his bed, especially on the couch while he's watching TV.

❃ Doesn't eat a lot meat as his diet consists mainly of fruits and vegetables.

Romeo's Kim "Hyunkyung" Hyunjong

▸ Younger Brother — Yoon Min (18) / Student/Delivery Boy / Optimistic, peaceful, absentminded / 10:10

Absolutely nothing could get between these two. Sangmin is extremely protective of Min as he has hemophilia. Min looks up to Sangmin almost more than their parents. It was Min that got Sangmin into gardening and the younger is often with his brother at his apartment buildling. Sangmin keeps it a secret from Min that he's been trying to talk to a ghost. Min sometimes works part time at Sproutzo, taking care of the plants or bringing orders around town.

Actor Lee Minho

▸ Neighbor — Kim Dawon (32) / Editor / Clumsy, loud, abrasive / 6:10

The two aren't nearly as close as they used to be now that Sangmin has become "another boring adult" as Dawon likes to say it. Sangmin in replies bites back calling him immature, making Dawon the only person to ever be successful at getting a rise out of Sangmin. They'll talk when Sangmin visits Min and goes to tend the trees still. It often leads to the cut off conversations before one can get mad at the other.

▸ Neighbor — Kim Eunsa (31) / Barista / Reasonable, cool, sarcastic / 8:10

In comparison to her husband, Eunsa is much more mature of a person; therefore, she and Sangmin get along much better. Dawon and Min tease them that they're a pair of grandmas since they often spend their time just reading and drinking coffee together. Neither of them are very talkitive so it works out well, just enjoying each other's company. Sangmin has asked for advice regarding talking to the ghost at Downtown Antiques, as far as Eunsa knows; the girl is alive.

Despite his mainly reserved nature; Sangmin has gone on and met serveral who have found themselves befriending ghosts. ▸ Friend — Han Shin (or if you already chose a name for him) (74) / Antique Shop Owner / Humourous, relaxed, lazy / 9:10

Sangmin has been friends with Shin long before he realized that there was a ghost living in Downtwon Antiques. The first time they met was actually when Sangmin was first starting to garden, on a walk in the woods. Shin told him stories about how there were fairies living among the trees. Sangmin had told him he was crazy but make him tell another story. It became routine; on Sundays, Sangmin would go out to the woods with whatever fruit or flower was fully matured and Shin would tell hiim stories that he eventually told Min.

While they are still close friends, Sangmin tends to be distracted during his visits to Downtown Antiques. Shin doesn't mind it all though, he appreciates that someone other than him is trying to approach the poor woman. Much to Sangmin's misfortune, Shin doesn't know too much about her either.

what do you think?

Do you believe in the jyeosaeng ghosts? :

❃ "Yeah." I replied simply, it was a simple and clear answer, just the way it needed to be. However, the interviewer was giving me a strange look when they realized I wasn't going to elaborate any further. "Um..." They frowned, "can you expand on that perhaps?" I mimicked their frown before answering again. "Well the strange pale people that seem to never talk to anyone definitely look like ghosts."

Do you think the ghosts are creatures to fear? :

❃ I couldn't help but snort. Why were these questions so easy to answer, at least give something that would make me have to think. "You've never seen them before have you. Look," I began, scooting forward, "these ghosts barely have the nerve to even talk to us, nevermind do anything to harm us." Chuckling, I scooted back into my seat. "Besides, are they even tangible?"

What does jyeosaeng mean to you?  :

❃ About time a question actually made me think, I couldn't help but think. It's still an easy question, but it's not a yes or no and why question like the last two had been. "It's my home." I shrugged. "I grew up here with my brother and my neighbors. I opened my own business here doing what I love, I get to see everyone from my childhood like Eunsa or Dawon or Shin." Well Dawon... That as keen on seeing but childhood friend is a childhood friend. "Min is here." I repeated absentmindedly, other than not liking the city, Min would definitely be another one of my reasons for coming back to Jyeosaeng, he's in his last year of high school now. He'll be off to college soon, but I can at least spend this year with him if he doesn't come back to Jyeosaeng.

if you died today, would you be able to move on from this life? :

❃ I felt my eyebrows jerk up in surprise. Strange question, but I guess since the topic is ghosts it isn't completely out of thin air is it? "Probably not," I confessed admittedly. "I know Min may have our parents, but I want to be there to take care of him as well. That's how you end up not moving on isn't it?" I found myself wondering outloud. "If it is, then no probably wouldn't move on until I knew that Min was safe."

SPIRIT : A Piece of Your Soul
NAME OF SPIRIT : Jang Maerin

FACECLAIM : Soloist Jo "Kisum" Hyeryung

BACKUP FACECLAIM : Soloist Lee "IU" Jieun

DEATHDATE : 1976

PERSONALITY :

❃ We'll spare you from anymore word vomit and just give you the traits..

Positive: Patient, understanding, artistic

Negative: Reserved, forgetful, easily scared

So think of her like a train wreck that just looks like she knows what she's doing. For example, if there was a friend that told her they had a project due tommorow. Maerin would freak out and do it, then later she'll realize she already did the project when it was first assigned.

BACKGROUND :

❃ Born in 1954, as young adult, Maerin was in the era of the birth of fashion in South Korea. Who is considered the first Korean fashion designer, Noh Nora, was releasing the first fashion lines. Like many of the young women her age Maerin became obessed with style in fashion. Hence where she she decided to try to pursue a career in design.

It wasn't hard for Maerin, art had always been a natural talent to her. Even as a child, Maerin loved to draw princesses and princes, fairies, and anything else along the lines of humanoid. She had a eye for detail when it came to making sure all the colors would look good together and that patterns were neat. Not to mention she loved to add a little sparkle, whether a pearl necklace or a big diamond ring.

Fashion design, however, was a very new thing in her time. Therefore, there wasn't any fancy college programs for Maerin to be able to join. Unfortunately, her family couldn't afford to send her off to Seoul to attempt to seek out Noh Nora's company directly. Both her brothers and her father were away on enlistment and her mother and her were struggling to maintain their small home.

In an attempt to raise money for herself and her mother, Maerin takes a vacant space. The landlord had no problem, so long she gave 15% of monthly profits. Maerin opened a shop called Trinkets and Whatnot, a rather whimsical that would match the theme of the shop perfectly. Since Maerin couldn't afford much at the beginning, the store had been more of a yard sale indoors at first. Old toys, clothes and shoes that were in good condition. Jewelry that her family no longer cared for, a few pieces of art even.

Maerin's store wasn't the most popular, but it paid the bills. Not to mention she had many regulars, though it was rare for her to talk to them. Maerin preferred to stay behind the register and smile.

She's twenty years old when her store gets mistaken for an antique shop for the first time, a mistake she made on her own. While experimenting with different art styles, in hope to get more buyers, she decides to age a painting she made of a queen then frame it. At first, Maerin would try to correct people, until she realized it was another way to get money. People often gave what they considered antiques: old music cassestes, anything from older relatives that they didn't like. Then, other people would come in and buy them. So Maerin decided Trickets and Whatnot was an antique shop and renamed it Downtown Antiques.

Jang Maerin is murdered when she's twenty-two in 1976. Downtown Antiques was starting to gain popularity, Maerin and her mother joking that the new name was the cause. Her store was most popular among older people of the town when they felt like revisting what it was like in the older days. When they passed away, many often left something for her as though she was shy they thought of her as sweet. Hence, how the store began to flood with antiques. The idea of Seoul had never left Maerin's mind though. After these years of saving, and her father returning from the military, Maerin was ready to start her fashion career.

Before she left for Seoul, she left Downtown Antique to a close family friend, the 34 year old Han Shin. Her last night in Jyeosaeng, she decides to visit her beloved shop one last time.

Fate would have it, that very night Downtown Antiques was robbed. The robber was never captured, Jang Maerin died from a blunt force trauma to the head. Police suspected that she was most likely hit with an object inside the store, sadly the object was never found, and her case went unsolved.

INTERACTIONS :

Maerin doesn't understand two things about Yoon Sangmin. First, why is he taking such interest in her? Can't he just ignore her like all the other costumers? Second, why is his hair pink? Shin had told her it was a thing that the new youth were doing but pink on a man? These new generations were getting stranger and stranger.

They have a daily rountine of Maerin avoiding him, Sangmin will spend about ten minutes talking to the empty shop (Shin likes to give them privacy and goes to his office). He always leaves eventually and Maerin is always visible again to watch him go away. Just like how she watches him enter.

(She'll talk to him eventually, because she's dying to know about his pink hair)

LAST WORDS : THIS TOOK SOO LONG AND IT'S SUCH A WORD VOMIT I'M SO SORRY. Ha ha, this wasn't as well thought out as we thought.. But Shin isn't mentioned in the background because the idea of the two being friends was one that had come up later. We worked on this together, writing at different times so it might be choppy at times because it's a switch between writers.

SCENE REQUESTS :

▸ Flashbacks to ghost's death scenes, like the person seeing it
▸ Properly addressing common ghost stereotypes (because farts and burps are not the spirits of the food)
