Something that has helped me in my studying, is creating a timeline. On your floor lay out a long string and make that your timeline. I don't know what you're studying in history but if it's a war or so, I'd pick a different color paper/pen/post its/ whatever you write on/with and start filling out your timeline with important events. Most school systems aren't into the whole "remember date and event" kind of remembering, but more to see the context, like others before me suggested, try make a story and remember the context. What happened first, then next. As long as ou remember that and which events happened somewhat simultaneously, you have a very amazing head start on your exam. just make sure you have the main dates down, like when the war started and ended for instance

i usually try to understand everything as a whole. like treat it as a story and connect it all. it helps if you understand and not just memorize.

I usually make it into a story and then break them into smaller points and memorized. I think you need to turn it into something fun or something that you are familiar with.

For my history class in high school, I had a really good teacher, but even so, I had to memorize all the essay answers. What I did was just literally lay on my bed, hold my notes in front of my face, and repeat everything out loud until I could do it without looking at my notes. Worked every time. lol

Try to understand the content. Remove the fact from your head that history is mystery. Read it as u read AFF. ;) Reading out loud may help you , according to my teacher that is.

I wish I could help... I have photographic memory... but I guess that if you idk say things out loud or read them over and over again you'll memorize things or you can study key words that can help you memorize sentences...

Link names/dates with something familiar to you or something you know. That's how I always remembered them for exams. ^^
