Gahee always stood out from the crowd because of her height and model like features, which is why she felt that it was a necessity to always act sophisticated and chic all the time. At first it felt burdensome, but then she started to like how her image always emitted sort of a poised and lady-like aura.

She’s also very confident about herself, it wasn’t that she was cocky, she just really knew how to handle and carry herself well. She knew what she was capable of doing and she believes in herself even when nobody else does.

Aside from her chic aura, she is also quite known to be very friendly among other idols, sunbaes, her group mates and everyone else. She’s often chosen to represent their group in variety programs because of her adorable antics and witty comebacks.
 

 

BACKGROUND :

Gahee was the first child to be born in the Im family on October 31, 1995. It was a stormy day then and Gahee’s mom would often tease that her personality was that of a storm because of the tantrums she threw very often. Both her parents were very supportive of little Gahee and would often give her what she pleased.

Unfortunately, when the family had a second baby, Gahee’s father’s local office job can no longer sustain them. Gahee was only 5 years old when her father went to work in a different country as a marine engineer, leaving her, her mom and her new brother.

She was a very curious child then, wanting to learn English and ballet at such a young age. Given that both her parents were very supportive, she was immediately enrolled to take lessons.

A few years later, a surprise came when her mother was yet again pregnant with another baby, And the day her little sister was born, was the best day of Gahee’s life. She was only 10 then, but the second she saw her baby sister, she knew she wanted to give the world to her. She also wanted to grow up into a successful role model her little sister could someday look up to, it was her aspiration.

She went to school diligently and was studying well to become a doctor, alongside her ballet classes which she was greatly improving at by the day. At the age of 14, a talent manager from a well known agency approached her while she was on her way home from school. She didn’t think much of it at the time but she felt like this was something her little sister could be proud of so she auditioned. She got accepted, but quit after a few years due to circumstances.

She fell into depression and was starting to get a serious case of anorexia because of the pressure she experienced with the training, school and a few modeling jobs offered to her. Ballet and her new-found admiration for swimming were her only release but even that wasn’t enough on some days. Nobody really noticed how broken she was until the day her 9 year-old sister saw her crying. Gahee knew then that she couldn’t be weak, especially because of her sister. That was the day she regained her self-confidence and the first time in weeks that she went out to buy some groceries.

- Im Jinah - Gahee’s little sister
- Ice cream - she can finish an entire tub in one sitting
- Meat - anything with lots of meat is her favorite food
- Long showers - Gahee likes to take long hot showers whenever she’s happy and upset, especially if there are bath bombs and candles
- Watching videos of babies - it comes naturally that she enjoys watching videos of toddlers since it is her life’s goal to have a kid.
- Black and white clothes - she insists on buying clothes of these monochrome colors because they are easily partnered with anything and she’s too lazy to be bothered with color coordination daily.
- Learning new things - be it a new skill, language or an instrument, she is always fond of learning something new. Right now she’s learning how to apply makeup from Makeup Gurus on Youtube.
- Puppy - her pet poodle whom she treats like her kid

▸ Dislikes:
- Being called Yeosin - she just hates it, it feels like a burden having such a nickname and she wishes it never started in the first place.
- Smelling bad - be it sweat or smoke, she hates it when unappealing scents stick to her,
- Habitual Drinking - she’s not a hypocrite, she does drink every once in a while, but it absolutely annoys her when people do it too often.
- Being scolded - like a child, she hates it when she is being told off.
- Cats - she’s just not a fan of them, especially dark colored ones.

▸ Habbits:
- Pouting - yes, she absolutely pouts a lot especially when older members tell her to do things or when she’s told no.
- Lip bites and sticking out her tongue - Gahee’s habits which she unconsciously does when she’s nervous, trying to concentrate or just when she’s thinking.
- Cheers for herself - Before every performance she tries to pep talk herself, a trait all members think is bizarre.

▸ Hobbies:
- Ballet - she has been taking ballet classes ever since she was 5 and even after 16 years she still feels excited whenever she performs the majestic dance
- Swimming - she was always fond of being in the water, so when she has spare time she usually takes a dip and swims for a few hours.
- Cooking - Gahee believes that every lady should learn how to cook so she’s also learning how to.
- Annoying her members - a day would not be complete without Gahee annoying her members.

- Not very good at acting cute and is often quite embarrassed when she is forced to do aegyo.
- Does not care about how she looks, especially when she's eating.
- Was once told to “enroll in ethics classes” because of her big mouth.
- Was not an ulzzang before debut but was a model for small gigs.

RELATIONSHIPS :

▸ mom — Im Jungah (44) / house wife / has soft spot for her kids / 9/10
Gahee and Jungah has a very strong mother-daughter relationship. Gahee always admired her mom for being so strong and raising three kids while their dad was away. Jungah always supported her kids in whatever they wanted to do and guided them every step of the way. Even though she was now out of the house, Gahee often calls her mom for advice and for other filial things.

Minsoo left to work in a another country when Gahee was still so young. As much as both of them hated it, they grew apart. Gahee often felt that her father grew grouchier and more strict ever since he worked abroad. She never said anything, but she absolutely hates it.

Jungmo and Gahee weren’t that close when they were younger. It was only recently when the two started clicking. Ironically, the two only became closer when the younger started rebelling, Gahee knew that he needed guidance and what good is a sister if she can’t help her little brother out.

Gahee was very vocal of her fondness with her little sister, she knew it was because she always wanted to have a family of her own and just being able to hold her fragile little sister was basically heaven to her. Whenever she would come home to visit, she would always bring extra presents for Jinah and Jungmo didn’t mind because he too was fascinated by their youngest.

Despite being the second to the last to join the group, Gahee grew quite close with her fellow members. It has only been a year since they all started training together and she knows that they have a long way to go. She never feels lonely anymore though.

One of her very few friends that stuck by her when she left her previous agency. Joohyun and Gahee have been friends ever since their trainee days and now that both of them have debuted, they are very explicit about their close relationship.

After a year, she was approached by one of the talent managers of KS Ent. while she was doing her grocery shopping, she auditioned during the middle of 2015 and was accepted as a trainee. She trained for about a year before she debuted.

PRE-DEBUT :

▸ Gahee was already into modeling since she was 16, so she had small photo shoots and runway walks. She is also often used in magazines for catalogs during her pre-debut days.

▸ Was supposed to debut with Red Velvet but quit just a few months before the group's debut

SCANDALS :

▸ March, 2014 - EXO’s Maknae, Oh Sehun, dating a trainee under the same agency | False, sort of. | Absurd
Gahee and Sehun never really made it official but they did go out very often and were starting to like each other. Unfortunately, EXO’s career was currently at its peek then and they were not allowed to date, especially trainees. Gahee didn’t like that she was being discriminated which is why she left the agency.

WHY DID YOU PICK KS ENT.-OR TO BE AN IDOL AT ALL? : 

▸ I already know what’s its like being in an established agency but I feel like I belong here. I always wanted to know what it’s like being an idol. It seems that my passion for dancing could be shared to other people, through being an idol. Although my style of dancing may not be similar to what we would do, I feel that it is still a great way to express myself and share my passion with our fans. 

I also want to become something my little sister could look up to someday, so why not be an idol?

IF YOU COULD PICK ANOTHER SUB-UNIT, WHICH WOULD IT BE AND WHY? : 

▸ It would definitely be an honor to be a part of another group, any group at all. But if I was given the chance, I’d probably choose Knights since I can’t play any instrument.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE CEO HAND SELECTING KNIGHT'S MEMBERS? : 

▸ I will respect his decision, it’s his company so I think it’s only reasonable that he gets to call the shots. I would work hard so that I could be part of it but if not, then I would still definitely support the group though since my other members would be there.
Besides, everybody worked equally as hard as me so we all deserve to get that spot in Knights.

CHECKMATE WILL BE KS' FIRST GROUP, YOUR THOUGHTS AND/OR FEELINGS? : 

▸ It makes me very excited, and at the same time I have this unsettling feeling in my stomach. *Laughs nervously* But overall it makes me look forward to things. It makes me feel like I’ll be part of something big.

ANY OTHER ACTIVITIES YOU'D LIKE TO DO IN THE FUTURE (ACTING, VARIETY, MUSICALS, ETC.)? : 

▸ I don’t really want to push my luck but I want to experience the whole idol package, except for musicals because I don’t really think that’s for me. But the rest, I would be honored if given the chance to try something new.
