Lost Treasure or Trash?

So... I was cleaning up my files because my disk was running out of space, and I found several old fics that I left hanging. I have the sudden urge to continue them but they are several fo them and I don't know which to start, or whether I should even start them. Here are the snippets. Which should I start working on first? hmmm...

The Truth Behind the Stars

“Time hasn’t been kind to you.” Chen walks gallantly towards his old friend, like the ethereal being that he is. Instead of replying Chen, his friend maintains the blank stare that he has. “It has been a hundred years since that day.” It is hard for Chen to ignore the lack of response. “You need to get a hold of yourself.” Chen grabs onto his shoulders, wanting to shake some sense into him, quickly regretting it. His shoulders felt so scrawny under his palms – too fragile. Afraid that any more pressure would break him, Chen removes his hands. “You have tried your utmost. But this is the end.” As much pain it is to see his dear friend suffering, Chen needs to make him see reality. “You have to let go.” Chen’s heart aches looking at how haggard his friend has become due to prolonged exhaustion.

“End me.” These two words that came out as a coarse whisper, stirs unimaginable magnitude of emotion in Chen.

“I WILL NOT!” How could he. “I will not cause harm to my friend!” With clenched fists, Chen looks at him bitterly – enraged by his outrageous request.

“Can’t you see?” his voice trembles in his own throat. “I’m hurting more like this. The bare thought of spending a mere second without…” He holds on to Chen’s wrists pleading for sweet mercy. “I’m dying a slow death. Please grant me a quick end.”

“I will not lose my friend” Chen grows desperate. How can he make him see that ending his life is never the answer?

“Maybe you’re the one who needs to let go.” The resolve in his eyes are unshaken. “If you truly are my friend, you will end me. I wouldn’t choose to go out any other way.” He guides Chen’s left hand onto the crown of his own head, firmly locking it into place.

“Forgive me.”

“You did me no wrong, friend.” A tear rolls down Chen’s cheek as a soft glow emits from his palm; as his friend falls to the ground.

Superhuman Oversight Bureau

“Sir, he had rejected registration three times, shouldn’t we arrest him already?” Sehun questioned his superior officer, rightfully so.  If a superhuman persists on resisting registration, on the 3rd time, the superhuman, as per section 11c of the Risk Enlistment Act (REAct), is to be arrested. “We should request for the Special Criminals Unit (SCU) to handle the arrest.”

“You’re right. We should.” Kim Junmyeon, better known as Suho, nonchalantly replied as he flipped through the recent case reports, begrudgingly marking the spelling errors made by Chanyeol. Sehun hadn’t mention his name but if Suho had to guess, he would assume Sehun was talking about Do Kyungsoo, the superhuman whom Chanyeol had been trying to get to register this past month.

“Should I prepare the requisition papers, Sir?” It was the fourth time today. Suho had been ignoring his charge for the fourth time and it was beginning to irritate the boy.  The last week was, least to say, busy. A group of anarchist superhumans, who called themselves The Noblesse, terrorized the business district and kept hostage an office building full of salaryman and woman;  a Jock who could walk through walls robbed the local bank and an Esper was reading minds to ‘get lucky’ in a casino. “Sir?” As he looked up to face the young man, he removed his reading glasses and rested them on the table, pinching the bridge of his nose and wondering to himself; just how long had he been awake?

“Jong-” Suho paused, switching gears. “Kai will handle it. Don’t worry about it.” Suho then straightened his shirt out and put on his Haori that he had hanged on the coat hanger. “Go to your desk and pretend you’re doing some important work.” Suho instructed Sehun calmly, not caring for the dumbfounded look on Sehun’s face. He had much more serious things on his mind right now.

“I’d like to think that I am doing important work.” Sehun semi-retorted, after all, Suho was still his superior officer.

“I bet you do. Now, someone really annoying, more annoying than Chanyeol,” Suho said while using hand gestures to put emphasis on his point, “is going to walk through that door.” Suho points to the only door to their office, sincerely hating even the mention of him. “And I need to up to him.” He ends it with a tired sigh, his shoulders visibly shrinking in size.

“More annoying than Chanyeol?” The intern raises a doubtful brow, rather intrigued at the idea of someone else in this universe being more of an annoyance than Chanyeol.

“Yes.” With that, he was sold.

“I understand.” And proceeded to his desk to ‘do some important work’.

Royal Pain in the

Just then, the tall wooden door swung open, a man appears. The way his hair is slicked back really complements the dignified features on his face. He must be some kind of high-ranking official especially with the way he dresses, no common folk on the streets wears a cloak.  He looks at me with a confused expression, “Pardon me, I’m looking for a person named…” he squints at a small parchment in his hand, “Deeyoh.”

“That would be me.” I smile at him as graciously as I can but all he does is to furrow his brows at me.

“But you’re a man.” He looks genuinely confused. I mean, sure I have a slightly smaller frame than your average man. But still, it’s pretty obvious what I am.

“Yes, I am.” I muster the manliest voice I can manage. “I’m the bard hired for today’s ceremony.”

“I’m sorry, there must’ve been a mistake.”

“Wha-what do you mean?” No, no! What mistake? I’m going to sing today. Me!

“But you’re a man.” Yes, I am. I pee while standing up. Is that going to be a problem? There are plenty successful male bards out there.

“You said that already.” I frown visibly at him. The bells rang and his head perked up. He then closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.

“I’m going to be exiled for this.” He mumbles to himself, but it was clear enough for me. “Do you know what this means, you performing today?” He gestures me to follow him.” I can’t answer him, not because I don’t know what this job assignment means to me but because I don’t know what he thinks it means to me. “It will change your life.” He stops to look at me with serious eyes.

“Yes, that’s what I hope for.” He gives me a slight nod and continues walking.  He leads me to a door as I follow him quietly. I'm not even going to make an effort to start a conversation; he might begin clarifying with me yet again my gender.

Playing Gods

Taemin cursed at the unyielding wind, stinging his eyes with the dirt from the ground. He pulled over the hood of the mantle over his head. Hopefully it would shield his eyes. He staggered on, legs wobbling. He was down to just a canister of water left. On these parched lands, how much further could his weathered and wounded body take him? After holding out for so long, he finally gave in to the dryness of his throat. Just a sip, he told himself and yet he finished the whole canister. Death was imminent either way. Up ahead, the scenery remained unchanged, just a vast expanse of dried land; so dry the cracks burrowed deep into the ground. Just how much farther could his legs carry him? The sweltering heat burning down on him was not helpful to his cause. It drew out any water he tried to put in himself. He needed to get farther; farther away from the battlefield. He refused to be among those corpses, rotting away on land stained with stale blood. No, the battlefield could not be his final resting place. However, his body was at its limit and he fell hard on the ground. He didn’t make it; he didn't get far enough.

Barely breathing, his vision started to fade. A subtle chill surrounded him, softening the heat rays of the sun. Taemin willed his eyes to stay open though his vision was diminishing. All he could see was a pair of feet descending in front of him before passing out.

I like the Superhuman Oversight Bureau concept, but I'd make it a bit more approachable for light-readers who don't want to read about so many new terms and stuff. I'd take my time with that one and take some chapters to explain all that :)

based on tittle the first, based on intrigue the second, but the third really made me wonder what comical romance would come from there XD
so i vote for second and third XD
