( personality traits ) : +;; honest selfless humorous loyal --;; short-tempered impatient irrational flirt
( elaboration ) : growing up, sarang's always cherished honesty and loyalty from all her friends and families. like the saying, "treat others how you want to be treated." that's what she did. she was always honest with her friends. maybe a little too honest. sure, she was good in admitting her wrongs and etc., but she was quite ruthless when she had to speak her mind or opinion. she didn't really have a filter and she could care less whether or not it hurt anyones feelings what she said. however, that being said, she is a very loyal person. if anything, she'd never do anything to hurt her friends as in backstabbing them, talking on them, etc. she could never do that, she'll always defend her friends and family no matter what. she's the queen of dumb jokes and lame jokes. half her jokes never make sense and she gets angry when no one laughs. an example is: "how does a vampire girl flirt? by batting her eyes, hahaha." she'll just sit there and laugh by herself and then people start laughing, not bc of her joke but because she sounds and looks like a dead seal laughing. she always deem that people's lives mattered more than hers. so she always put the people around her - before her. she'll always do what she can to help others, you'll see that she's the first to offer a helping hand no matter how difficult the favor is.

you know, sometimes people see sarang as more of a bad person than a good, like the saying, "the bad outweighs the good," sometimes her actions can throw people off. she's extremely short-tempered, she gets angered very easily. practically almost anything could set her off, she just hates childish comments or actions or people annoying her. it makes her seem like a sensitive person but she really isn't. what really genuinely sets her off is things that offend her, questioning her actions, being lied too, etc - just anything that could genuinely make a person angry for a long time and hold a grudge. she holds a bad grudge too and once she's angry, she'll practically yell at the next person that tries to talk to her, so many people learned very quickly it's best to leave her alone until she cools down. very impatient, she wants things done quick and easy and clean. she hates waiting around for things when what's done is already done. she's super irrational, she doesn't really think about her actions and just does them, occasionally that'll get her in trouble - but oops. especially when she's angry, she's not really afraid to pick a fight even though she could get in trouble, but she does it all out of impulse without thinking of the consequences or anything. many people know that she isn't unattractive and they know that sometimes her ego is a bit through the roof because she knows she's pretty. she's quite the flirt, it's not really a surprise if she flirted with anyone on the team or in class. but honestly - sometimes it's just unintentional and it just comes off that way for her.

( background ) : kang sarang is the youngest child out of two, born in france to two athletic parents. since both her parents were pretty athletic, they wanted their kids to grow up and into sports as well. her older brother kang pierre had taken on basketball, while for sarang - her dad wanted her to be in soccer because he was formerly a soccer player. when she was five, she was put on a soccer team, but she didn't necessarially enjoy the sport but she couldn't tell her dad so, so she stayed in for two years until she eventually told her dad she disliked it. so then the hunt for sarang to be in a sport began again. one day, when her brother came home from practice, pierre asked if he could attend his friend's swimmeet, his dad agreed but pierre had to take along sarang. taking her along, sarang watched the swimmers swim so intensely and loved it very much, they looked so elegant in the water the way they dived. coming home that night, she asked her parents if she could swim. her parents agreed and her mom began taking her to swim classes to learn, the girl learned quite quick. so after a few months of learning all the different swim - her mom put her in swim team. she began to pick up on swimming very quickly, if anything - she excelled in it and was one of the bests. she put in plenty dedications and hours into practicing - even if she was really young, after half a year, she moved onto silver level, and within a year and a half she moved onto gold level. she stayed on that level, until when she turned twelve, she was put onto france's national youth swim team. it was her biggest accomplishment yet - and she was quite proud of herself, especially her parents.

however, a few months later, there was a big meet coming, and of course, sarang was competing in it. but she never got the chance too. because her parents told pierre and sarang the whole family was moving to korea, for job reasons as well as being closer to family. the move upsetted sarang more than anything - she had just made the national team, but she wasn't able to compete in it at all. when she got to korea, she didn't swim for a good four, five months because she was just stubborn and upset. but she didn't completely stop swimming, her passion for it, kept her just going to the pool for fun to swim. when she saw her grandfather, he convinced her finally to get her to join swimming again. after a few nudges, she finally decided to swim again. the girl knew she was a good swimmer, so when she showed up to try out for the youth team, she had a smuggish, cocky look on her face. her peers thought she was just bluffing, but she turned out to be really good. she continued to move up like usual in the swim team. she knew her talent and what she was good at, but she never said anything, she just had that look on her face that was pretty arrogant. she continued to grow in swimming, winning many competitions and meets. however, she hadn't known which high school/academy to go - her grandfather promoted ansan academy. "it's swim team is really good! i promise!" he looked at his young granddaughter with pleasing eyes. "on top of that, you get to hang out with me." she looked at him, "grandpa, you're getting old. you need to rest, not coaching useless kids." she muttered. she was getting up, but having to hear that the swim team was good, like really good - it was music to her ears. being around more great swimmers. having to join the ansan, she was put on varsity swim her freshmen year, but it wasn't as good as she kept hearing her grandpa go on about. "i'm gonna quit." she told her grandpa after practice one day. "what, sarang, why?" he questioned. "you wouldn't have a team to be on!" she walked around the pool, picking up equipment and cleaning since she always stayed after with him to clean. "i still have my team outside of school - but just. this team isn't all that good, anymore at least." her grandpa had a sad look on his face, but he nodded, supporting her choice. but by her junior year, it was his last year before he retired. and he was determined to definitely get people to join the team. to start off, he needed his granddaughter.

"sarang-ah, you swim so well. please join again. for me." he asked when he visited her home. "i already told you -" he nodded, signing her to stop talking. "i know, but i'm retiring, this is my last year. so please, sarang. do it for your old and broken grandpa." he smiled, patting his granddaughters back. "if you're old and brokem grandpa, stop coaching!" she whined to him. she was close to giving in because she felt bad. he pouted, "ugh... fine grandpa. i'll join." she sighed. he let out a happy shout, "ow... my back,"

dive in!
"sometimes i hear the chlorine talk in my ear."

( so how did you end up joining the team? ) : HAH! sometimes thinking about how i joined makes me mad /laughs before smiling/ can't believe my grandpa somehow guilt tripped me into joining. he's old and should be resting! /gives out an exaggerated sigh/
( do you think coach kang was insane by forcing people to join if they walked in the door? ) : you know, growing up - whenever i saw my grandpa, coach, whatever you wanna call him, i never questioned that he was normal. /fans herself/ it's really hot... but yeah - though, i'm not gonna stop my gramps, his last year - let him do what he wants, so nah. he's not insane. /shrugs and gives a whatever face/
( by the way, do you know how to swim? if so, do you have a style of swimming? ) : freestyle, dude. /she gave the biggest smile ever/ but i'm good at butterfly too, but absolutely terrible at stroke. /she drags her finger from her eye down to her chin, faking a tear/
( are any of your friends on the team? ) : changkyun, you know that freshmen boy with zero to no friends at all? /she looked around and shrugged/ he's my friend, we aren't close idk - aquaintances, but he's on the team. don't know what my old man said to him to get him to join though. poor him. oh, and the lovely shin hoseok. he's on - god, the swim team definitely is gonna get a lot of attention now that that blonde loser is in. /she gives out a laugh/ that's sarcasm, i have nothing against hoseok. we're good friends.
( well, i suppose that's it. be at the pool at 6 am sharp! ) : or earlier because gramps is making me come at five. /she rolled her eyes and slumped on the chair/ nevermind - you said 6 right? i was gonna come practice an hour before anyways. oops.
the shallow end
( love interest ) : yoo, kihyun
( backup ) : shin, hoseok
( gender ) : m

( personality ) : intelligent, enthusiastic, hardworking + anxious, pessimistic, egotistical
( meeting ) : after meeting all the recruitments, everyone was starting to get prepared to go into the pool for whatever reason the coach had said. walking by the boys lockers to get changed, sarang overheard loud laughter and annoying shouting. it was already bothering her she was up all night studying and barely had enough sleep, but she had to deal with a bunch of kids messing around in the morning. she sighed and decided to go in to the lockers to tell the boys to hurry up. before she even reached the door, she was welcomed by ayoo kihyun running out laughing and at that moment, not quick enough to realize - the two both crashed into each other. "oohh , kihyun - you just ran into the girl!" she recognized the voice to be from hoseok. "dude you good?" hoseok tried helping her up. she pushed hoseok off and sat upright and so did kihyun, the two groaning. kihyun held onto his head and looked up, "hey, i'm sorry are you - oh god, your nose is bleeding!" he panicked. the other boys rushed out of the locker room, "sarang, your nose is bleeding!" she touched her nose, "i know, i heard from this idiot!" she shouted. "changkyun get her some tissues!" hoseok said. he nodded and ran to get tissues. "h-hey, i'm sorry, really." kihyun moved closer to get a better look at her. "don't touch me, ." she rolled her eyes and stood up and walked towards her grandpa. "you DEFINITELY BUSTED HER NOSE... I THINK I HEARD IT CRACK, LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE PAYING FOR A NEW ONE." HOSEOK GRIMACED BEFORE PATTING THE DUDE ON THE SHOULDER AND LEAVING INSIDE THE LOCKER.

SHE GAVE KIHYUN A GLARE AS SHE WALKED PAST HIM, LEAVING THE POOL AND OUT INTO THE PARKING LOT. HE DECIDED TO FOLLOW HER. SHE OPENED THE DOOR TO her car, "ing bull - i did not wake up early to get my nose ing pummelled." she muttered as she shuffled through the trunk finding the first aid kit. until she felt a pat on her shoulder, she turned around, "what?" she shouted. "h-hey... y-you don't need a new nose right?" he said, while nervously rubbing the back of his neck. "no." she rolled her eyes while turning around to proceed finding a first aid kit. sensing that she was finding a first aid, "you know, a first aid isn't gonna do anything since you're gonna go in the pool soon.. so just stick up tissues for now?" she stopped shruffling around. there was no need for a first aid, her nose wasn't cut or anything, just bleeding. she huffed and sat down, "i'm tired." she put her hair up. "here's a tissue for your nose," he said, handing it to her. she took it and stuffed it up her nose, "thanks. but stay out of my way from now on before you break the rest of my face next." she said before walking away from him.
( interactions ) : ever since that incident, kihyun tried his best to avoid her and on sarang's part she acts like he doesn't exist. however, until one day - hoseok tells sarang to forgive him. "c'mon, honey - it was an accident. give him a break." she gathered up all the towels that were thrown around the pool. "who said i didn't forgive him?" he followed the smaller girl around, "uhm, you obviously. coach partnered you up with kihyun and you said, 'i want to switch, can i partner with changkyun?' like who does that??" hoseok sighed. she continued to ignore him, throwing him a swimming board. "changkyun was nearest to me. i didn't want too nor did i want kihyun swimming over. we were both far, distance wise." she made up an excuse. hoseok gave her the yeah right face. "ok fine! yeah, i'm still pretty upset about my nose. but i just - i said to stay away from me." hoseok threw his head back, "that's why you break the barrier!"

hoseok did make her feel bad the way she acted towards kihyun. after that, she decided to slowly open up and be kind to him. the two are still pretty awkward with each other, however, it's been changed a bit. kihyun seems to be tensed around her sometimes, fearing he'll hurt her again. but sarang got over it and is relaxed, occasionally cracking jokes at him. or insulting him just because and then having to end it with, "i was kidding." because kihyun couldn't tell if she genuinely was being serious or not. but he'll joke around her sometimes as the atmosphere gets better. sometimes she'll hit him just cause, and sometimes he'll tackle her because she hit him. their relationship as friends got easier over time and it's just filled with jokes and playfights. it's gotten to the point to that if they needed someone to talk too, kihyun would be there for her or she'd be there for him. often having late night convos because kihyun worries a lot and she'll talk to him for awhile to cheer him up and all.
