TRAINEE BACKGROUND [ ♦ ] In the fall of 2011, she became a trainee at Starship entertainment. Her experience was like any other trainee but it was difficult for her to communicate because her Korean was horrible. However, in the spring of 2014 she got into a car accident that gravely injured her legs. She recovered in the summer but Starship decided to cut her before her three year trainee contract even ended. Fortunately, she was introduced to SM Entertainment by Starship so she successfully entered SM. While in Starship she greatly improved in terms of dancing, she was able to improve even more when it came to singing, in SM.

// From a young age she has always had a extroverted personality. She was very cheerful and was always the first one to think of games to play with. She was always the one inviting people into her group. Jhy would be the first one to figure out if someone was upset and she would say and do all kinds of cheesy stuff to make them happy. She puts other people's happiness over her own and never turns them away when they need her help.

// However, in actuality, she only helps these people around her because she wants to put her mind on something else other than her own problems. She uses other people as a way to prevent her own problems from bothering herslef. This engenders herself to be very nosy and is always trying to into other people's businesses. When people try to tell her to mind her own business she gets angry and becomes incredibly sarcastic. Additionally, she never cares for anyone that is related to her problems.

BACKGROUND [ ♦ ] She was raised in an environement in which her father was always in the British airforce and she never saw him. She was brought up by her mother, who was a Hungarian professor at Oxford University, and paternal grandparents. From a young age, Jhy hated airplanes and anything related to them. If there were kids that played with airplanes she would break those toys and then she would cause a fight. In other words, she was a very rebellious kid even at a young age. Whenever her father heard of this he would be very disappointed in her and so, her and her father's relationship was already strained. Jhy never bothered to tell her father why she was like that anyway because she thought that it was too much work to do so.

The only person that she considered as a father figure was her maternal uncle, her mother's younger brother. Her maternal uncle would often take her to dance shows and that was when Jhy developed an interest in dancing. Jhy started to take different kinds of dance classes at the age of nine and excelled in all of them. At school, she was also a genius because she did extremely well in math and English.

Her grandparents took her back to South Korea for the first time, at the age of sixteen and then she discovered SISTAR. Since that time she dreamed of becoming a K-Pop star because she loved dance and music. In that year of 2011, she auditioned for Starship Entertainement.

However, she didn't get to go to South Korea without ruining a few relationships. Her mother didn't want her to go to South Korea and so their relationships became estranged. Her two elder sisters didn't like that idea either so their relationships were also bad. Only her paternal grandparents agreed for her to go.
