Living and Working in Korea - part 'I '

Oh my god guys, I so much. Sorry.

I totally just ... I've been so busy that the last thing I've felt like doing every day is writing a blog. Just, nope. But it's sports day today at my main elementary school, so all my classes got cancelled. Thus, blog.

So the job thing is going well. I've finally got into the groove with 3 of my 4 schools. I now know how to handle small classes and I even got complimented by one of my korean coteachers (which is something that basically never happens, it's not the korean way or something). So that's awesome. The 4th school has larger class sizes (20-27) and is a middle school which automatically makes it more difficult. Middle school kids in rural Korea do not wanna learn English. So I'm having some discipline issues in that school. I'm learning though. Slowly.

But that stuff is boring. Who cares about that. I'm gonna talk about the cool tuff I've done. (sorry, no photos this time because my camera is in my apartment and I am not but I shall try to pain the scene with my prose (or not)).

So I went to Busan. Hung out on the beach, got completely smashed one night and had to take first train home the next morning (I don't normally do the clubbing thing and I'm a total lightweight so that was... interesting. (Got a kiss from a totally cute Korean guy too (a you cute, I had fun playing beer pong with you thing not a y thing))). The beach in Busan is cool. Huge and apparently in summer it's totally packed. Luckily, I went in spring, so it was nice. I also saw this little cultural village place up in the mountains. It was super colourful and just all around cool. Small aleyways, colourful buildings, random art installations everywhere. It was really nice and had amazing views of hte city. Super busy though. So many people.

What else did I do... Went to Gangneung (강릉), on the coast of Gangwon (가원도) province, to see a festival thing. It was some cultural event and was just a massive load of stalls and stages and stuff. That was interesting, I guess. The beach in Gangneung is gorgeous though and well worth checking out. Interestingly, I was watching the drama She Was Pretty last night and in episode 7 (?) when they go to scout locations for a beach shoot, they go to Gyeongpo beach in Gangneung. I totally recognised it. I've sat on those weird ring shaped benches. So that's cool. Oh, I also went to Angmok (i htink that's what it's called) beach and went zip lining. A super short and chill ride, but it was nice.

Uhh, what else. i went to Seoul and explored the city hall area. There was an expo where loads of ameteur dancer and performers had acts. That was cool. I totally saw that undebuted group Pentagon too. Those boys are super cute just sayin'. City hall is a cool area. There's a temple type thing there and I got to see the chaning of the guard. THeir outfits are so bright and their beards were so so fake :P facial hair is not a trend in Korea anymore, so all the actors had to glue it on.

I went to the chicken restaurant owned by Sungyeol from Infinite's parents. There are massive pitures of him all over the walls, it's a little strange. But damn the chicken was good. A little expensive, but expected considering it's in Hongdae.

I saw YG Entertainment. I just happened to walk past. That building is fancy but is just that, a building. Nothing super exciting. Lots of fancy cars in the car park though.

And last weekend I did the best thing ever. I got tickets to the Suwon Kpop Super Concert. It was incredible. I'll list the artists for you, just to make everyone jealous. Each group performed 2 or 3 songs and they were all incredible.

I.O.I (pick me pick me pick me up... that song is everywhere and is so catchy. It's awful. Little girls seem to love I.O.I though. Like a lot)

MAP6 (I have little opinion on them. They were ok for rookies but nothing exceptional)

B.I.G (the most ... masculine of the groups that performed. They were pretty ok)

ASTRO (so cute it actually hurts me. Seriously, they were pushing the aegyo hard. Good vocals though)

KNK (they were incredible. I already had them on my radar from their MVs but now I know they are definitely a rookie group to watch out for)

UP10TION (I love me my UP10TION. They're cuties and damn they can sing. Sunyeol (the high pictched voiced one) is my fave, he's too cute)

HALO (they performed in full suits, I respect and appreciate them jsut for that. Seriously though, Korean guys in a good suit... wow)

Fiestar (they were awesome. The rapper was super obvious, it was funny. Like cute dress, cute dress, cute dress, tight bodysuit, cute dress. she was good tohugh and their vocals were on point)

MAMAMOO (like 25% of the crowd (mostly men) were only there for mamamoo. Their radish light sticks are funny as to see. They were really good but honestly (not a fan of girl groups but) I liked fiestar more)

UKISS (didnt expect them to be there, they werent billed, but it was a nice surpirse. They were chill. Nothing bam in your face but just nice music)

SS301 (their new song is so good, I've been listening to it on repeat. They also sang a medly of SS501 songs which the crowd absolutely loved)

EXO (I went deaf. Seriously. The crowd was so loud you could probably hear them from 5km away. It was insane. Theie performace was amazing though. I kinda get th hype (SHINee are still my bae though). They even had fireworks inside (inside!) the stadium. It was impressive).

So yep. That happened. Then I headed to a sauna to get clean and get a cheap nights rest. Srriously 10,000won ($10ish) a night for a bath and a sleeping mat. only downside is you have to bath in front of random stragner and the sleeping mats are stupid thin :P t's not terrible though. Better than shelling out 80k for a hotel and yoy come out feeling really clean.

Then nthis weekend i think the plan is Everland. So, yeah, live is pretty cool right now. I even booked tickets to Japan in August.

So that's my life update for y'all. if you read all that, kudos to you and I;m sorry about the spelling mistakes. I'm feeling lazy today.
