Festival of Roses

Yesterday, I was too exhausted to write but now I'm in such good condition to tell you that yesterday I went in Kazanluk (one of the two cities famous for their roses) to see the Festival held every year. We were 5 cars and we had to wake up early in the morning. The experience would have been amazing if it weren't for a few things that made the day less great-one of the cars had to stop at the gas station and forced the rest to stop for which we were a tad late for the rose plucking; the police didn't allow us to park near the field so we had to stop and walk 5 whole kilometers /it was freaking hot and our feet hurt ;( /; some of us had the chance to take taxi which was not fair for the rest of us; we missed the beginning of the parade and we didn't even finish watching because most of our group were somewhere else confused of where we all should have been and we didn't organize our schedule properly; there was no restaurant available to eat lunch so we had to find one in another city.

I wished I could see the parade with my own eyes. There were kukeris (people who chased away evil spirits); cheerleaders; the mayor and other local figures. I even heard there was the Queen of the Roses! I'm glad there was someone who uploaded their video in which we can see clearly everything on Facebook.

But, all in all, it was fun. I was so surprised there were so many Asians attending the Festival. There were barely any Europeans. I recognized Japanese and Chinese people but I didn't know the rest of the Asians' nationality. We took a lot of pictures on our cameras and selfie sticks with some local people in their traditional clothes; we washed our faces and hands with boiling hot rose water; we bought rose necklaces and headbands and products made of roses; we even had plastic bags to pluck roses for our baths and teas.

Thank God we went to Kazanluk on the final day of the Festival or we would have missed! This was my second time attending the festival; the first time was around 10 years ago but sadly I don't remember it very vividly and now that I payed a visit to the city again my mind recalled some of the memories from the past!

Thanks for reading this. It's a bit long but I'm just so excited to tell you about my non-typical Sunday! Bye!!!
