We spend 25 kp everytime we upvote people?! So, that is why so many people subscribe but very few ever upvote. I was actually using the upvote like AO3's kudos. :P
Karma points: you need those to upvote a story (25kp), change your username, promote your story.
Comment reputation: just depends on the number of upvotes and downvotes you have in total. If you've never left a comment then it should be 0
