Subscribers Only, or nah

I always struggle to decide if I want to make my one-shots subscriber only. One the one hand I feel blessed if people want to read it enough to subscribe, but on the other hand I personally always find it a little annoying when I have to subscribe to read something that's super short and may never be updated (since, you know, it's a one-shot).

And I find that AFF's views thing is kind of not so accurate so having things be subscriber only helps me see my stats better.

Idk, decisions decisions.

I personally don't like the subscriber-only, I feel like it only force people to read your story because they can't even know what kind of story it will be from the description or your style of writing. Sometimes the description make me interested because of the plot but then, after reading the first chapter, your style of writing can make me run away and unsubscribe to your story because it doesn't please me. I think if you use it well, it's not a problem. Even though, I don't really like it, I can use it to make sure the readers are aware of the contents which I couldn't categorized. My advice if you put a subscriber only is to give an excerpt from your story in the foreword, so your potential readers can know your style :)

I'm not really sure. I have a handful of fics that are subscribers only and a handful that are not.
The subscribers only fics are the ones that I haven't been updating much and my old writing. -hides it so it can just rot-

You can always unsubscribe, I mean no hard feelings if you didn't like the fic right?

You can maybe test it out? if you feel comfortable having a restriction on your fics, go for it.
if you want anyone to read your fics, then leave it open.
try both ways and see which one makes you feel the most comfortable.
