NICKNAMES ☆

Haru : One thing that Harue found out when she moved to Korea, is that many people find pronouncing her whole name a pain. So, when anyone asks her name, she calls herself Haru instead. It's also her stage name.
Haru-chan : A traditional affectionate nickname that her family calls her. Or, well, really anyone who becomes close to her. Some friends call her this and a few people who get to know her.
The Stone Cold : Given to her by other trainees whom assume that Harue is a giant . Sometimes, she can come off as one; but, no one’s really ever tried to get to know her as a whole. Most of the trainees call her this behind her back; but, she does know of the name and doesn’t really care because she finds the people who call her this, petty.
Murderer : A name given to her because of her ethnicity. Most Koreans are disrespectful and rude towards the Japanese; so, in retaliation for what happened in history, many prejudicial Koreans call her this. Especially hateful anti-fans who found out she’s a trainee or really anyone who comes across her and learn that she’s trying to get an in, in the Korean Pop industry. She’s not really bothered by it and could careless for the people who have the audacity to call her this.

BIRTHDAY October 10th, 1992
AGE☆  twenty-three
BIRTH PLACE Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan
HOMETOWN Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan

ETHNICITY Japanese
NATIONALITY Japanese

LANGUAGES ☆

Japanese | Fluent | Her native tongue.
— Korean | Semi-Fluent | She started learning at seventeen when she first came to Korea, and became a trainee. She still tends to have problems with certain words. And her writing skills is probably really poor compared to most people. But, for the most part, she’s pretty good at keeping conversations flowing and holding her own in conversations as a whole.

FACE-CLAIM Ayame Gouriki
BACK UP Hashimoto Ai

HEIGHT & WEIGHT   162cm & 51kg
APPERENCE ☆ Harue has a very simplistic look to herself. Her face is slim, and rounded—like most Japanese females—and her skin tone is extremely pale. Which happens to contrast well with her almost ice like personality. She wears her hair short; despite having long hair when she was younger up to most recently. Her eyes are almost an onyx color, so when you look into her eyes all you can see is pitch black. She only ever has one constant expression, to which people call a resting face; so, for people that don’t see her constantly, they find her eyes to be almost scary. And sense she has a ton of manners, she almost looks like a proper .

STYLE ☆ Harue’s style is seriously simplistic. She has a tendency to wear peter-pan style dresses that are of one color: usually in dark tones or blues. Sometimes she’ll change it up and wear sweater dresses—though that’s usually in the fall or winter. Nearly all the time, she’ll wear bucket hats because she hates just leaving her hair by itself. You probably won’t find her wearing jeans, mainly because she likes her legs to be free. She’ll probably wear shorts before she ever touches jeans; though, most of the time you’ll find her wearing dresses. As for makeup, if she does wear any, it is minimal. Only lipstick and mascara and maybe blush if needed. For some reason, in Harue’s opinion, too much makeup makes her face feel itchy and like it’s going to crawl off her face.

STAGE NAME Haru; she assigned her name by herself and asked the company if it would be okay. They quickly agreed sense it's an easy name to remember. And, it's not only a Japanese name and word but also a Korean name and word that would be comfortable for many Korean fans.
POSITION Main Dancer, Sub-Vocalist — Lead Dancer, Sub-Vocalist

PERSONA Ice-Queen; given to her by her fans because of her standoffish and almost cold personality and her proper manners. It may also be a combiniation of her personality and what is seen of her on the show.
FAN CLUB NAME Ice Princesses/Princes; fans decided it would work well with her persona. Almost as if they're her children or some sort and, surprisingly, she likes the name for them.
FAN COLOR #99ffff

TALKING TWIN☆ Taeyeon of SNSD (Korean) ; Ayame Gouriki (Japanese)
SINGING TWINYuri of SNSD
DANCING TWINMin of Missa

TRAINEE YEARS  Eight years
TRAINEE LIFE ☆ Harue’s trainee life has been long, eight years, that’s a huge chunk of her life. Though she was a teenager when she first joined, she felt like an absolute child. One thing she thoroughly remembers from the first few weeks of training, is how talented everyone was. She was almost in awe by everyone; and not just singers, but actors, and models. Someone who focused merely on producing, and directing—lyric writing and creating beats. At this point in life, she had yet to have any true skill and the only reason she had been recruited was because of her unique hair style and visual looks. Despite that, every day while training, she happened to improve. Specifically, in dancing. She had never been trained—not once—but the dancing coaches saw how easily she picked up techniques and routines, along with her natural ability. Sadly, even though she had the ability to improve, she happened to always have sickled feet—something she struggles with. One point in her life, she taped pieces of wood to her ankles so that when she was dancing, they’d be straight and not sickled. This turned into a horrid situation, the wood happened to cut into her ankles and she had to get stiches for her deep wounds. The only other talent Harue has, is her singing. It’s not the best—and it was horrible in the beginning, she couldn’t hold a bar and didn’t know what do, re, mi was—but she managed to improve from where she started. The vocal coaches used to yell at her constantly, especially when her tone would turn scratchy—which was quite often. But, as time when on, she showed depth improvement, specifically in the emotions within her singing. The only talent she refuses to do, is rapping. And not because she has anything against rapping, it’s just that she sounds like a dying cat while rapping and she sounds pretty pathetic.

PRE DEBUTHarue has probably done a lot more than any other trainee, and that’s probably due to the fact that she’s been a trainee for so long. Although, a majority of it was acting rather than anything related to being an idol. The company allowed her to audition for a small ten-episode drama in Japan, that would be released in twenty-eleven. She auditioned for the lead rule but, incidentally, got a recurring role for the drama “You Taught Me all the Precocious Things”. It was very well received in Japan, and reached average ratings. She was in a few skin care CF’s in Japan, and is seen as an up and coming young actress over there despite only having done one drama. She’s also been featured in a few YouTube videos from being found in the underground cypher, battling one-on-one with other b-boys and b-girls. As for her singing, she hasn’t done much for fans to see, so her main goal is to improve in her singing rather than anything else because she’s not where she would like to be.
RUMORS/SCANDALS
NH Media Trainee Aoi Harue is an illjin | False…well, kind of true | Some prejudicial reporters looked into Harue’s time at her preforming arts high school, where she was known for being quiet and almost cold to others. Supposedly, reporters talked to close classmates who reported saying that Harue was in a gang of girls who’d talk trash about other females in the school, and beat up other females who dared to go after her or the other members in the gang. For the most part, this is false. But, some of it is true. Harue was technically in a gang; but, there was only four of them altogether and their main goal was to protect one another. They were all foreigners (Japanese, Thai, Taiwanese, and Filipino) and were scared of being judged because of their ethnicity. They vowed that whenever a prejudicial situation came up, they’d be there for one another. It wasn’t necessarily bullying; but, sometimes it would get physical and Harue isn’t one for backing out of a fight. NH Media had to kind of ignore the article, and wouldn’t actually comment on it—they’d dodge the conversation. So, some fans believe Harue was wronged because of the article while others find Harue to be an illgin.

PERSONALITY ☆

Positive : Calm, Elegant, Confident, Loyal, Gentle
Negative Discouraging, Fanatical, Hesitant, Narcissistic, Argumentative

Many people have the initial belief that there is nothing but pure hatred, and disgust in Harue’s brain; it takes a real noble and patient person to understand her. To find out who she truly is. And when they do, they’ll find out—Harue isn’t as bad as she’s made out to be. She’s actually a very peaceful, and private person. This may be the reason it takes months to get to know her. Most of the time, she tries her hardest to keep away from people. When she was still in school, she used to stay in the library for hours on end. She would read, sometimes, but most of the time she’d be listening to her music and ignoring everyone around her as if it’s her job. She’s way too soft for her own good; because, with her neutral expression, people certainly get the wrong idea about her. But, really, she’s just a composed and serene person who doesn’t get ruffled real easy. Later on in life, this habit didn’t change. Even though she wants to debut as an idol—in which involves a lot of being open—she still didn’t change. In the studio, you’re more likely to find her separated from the other trainees: glaring at them, brooding too. She had no want, or need to get to know them. Just as much as they had no want or need to get to know her. Which, may be the reason she comes off cold. But, honestly, she’s the type of person you have to initiate conversation with—in order for her to want to talk to you. Although, even though she has no friends at NH, she’s still sublimely confident in herself. When she walks into the room, she shines like a diamond. She’s the type of girl that you probably would’ve avoided in high school because she’s so, so perfect. (Although, her high school life was drastically different from this because of her ethnicity.) She doesn’t mind showing off that she’s beautiful, intelligent, and talented. When in the practice room, and one of the coaches says to show a certain part of the choreography, she’s the first one who throws up her hand and says, “I’ll do it.” And when people insult her, she won’t mind standing up for herself—or even those she loves. Nevertheless, there’s always a certain finesse to the way she does things. She never yells, she never insults—unless needed—and she only gets physical when others do first. Her mannerisms are delicate, and her talking is graceful. She’s always posed so poised—almost like she belongs in a castle as a Queen. That’s why—with her dancing—it was easy to develop technique; because, she does things with skills and refinement that every move was assured with her sensitive grace. One of her better traits happens to be her devotion—not only to her dream, and talent but to the people around her. As said before, Harue is the type of person who will stand up for those she cares for. If one of her family members, or a friend, is being hurt whether mentally or physical—she’ll be reliable and constant in the way that she’ll defend and protect them. She really doesn’t mind taking a few hits for the ones she cares for.

As many have come to learn, Harue has her downsides—and she has quite a few. As said before, she’s a difficult person to get to know. Mainly because of her doubtful tendencies. It’s not that she’s shy, not necessarily, but she’s cautious around people. Being separate from her family, in a country she’s not used to, far away from her home—she became very diffident when it comes to all people. Like, when people ask directions from her, she’ll probably ignore them and continue on like nothing happened. Not just that either, if a man approaches her—anywhere—she’ll dodge them like their fire and she’s kindling. If someone tries to force their way into her life, she won’t really understand why—and she’ll be difficult to them. The few times this has happened, Harue has turned into her quarrelsome self—spitting rapid fire at them so that they’ll leave her alone. She can really come off as pugnacious because of the way she talks down to people—almost like she’s stating that they’re the scum of the earth. She’s seriously argumentative. In high school, when she was within her gang, she was the one who confronted a lot of people and was considered the one you avoided fighting with because she could knock down anyone’s confidence with just a few words. That’s how good she is at putting people down. She’s disheartening. If someone in the studio says they’re amazing at singing, she’ll slyly begin to say how they aren’t. Practically depressing them with her words of power. It’s another reason why the trainees dislike her—because she’s gloomy. And not just when she’s putting them down. If you see her walking down the halls, she almost looks ominous. She stares off into space like she’s absentminded or daydreaming. Yet, she looks almost hopeless with her life. Which is, sad. She’s sad and off-putting. She almost dampens other’s aura with her own. Though, she may be like that because of her addicted attitude. One day of being sad, turns into four days because of her nearly obsessive and extreme ways of working. She’s the type of person that when she can’t figure out a move, she goes into a frenzy and over works herself until she’s throwing up and on the brink of death. She’s passionate, but it’s more than passion it’s her intensity to do things. Though one of her least liked traits, is her egotistic attitude. After showing off her dance moves, she’s the one that shows how vain she is by being self-absorbed. She’ll put others down in the process—just like she always does. Many people hate the way that she’s conceited and selfish. Always thinking about herself and very rarely thinking about others. All in all, Harue is the type of person you either like or hate—there’s no in between.

here's a little extra

the history and the people of my life

BACKGROUND ☆

Harue was born in Kobe, Japan in the year of nineteen-ninety-two. To say the least, her life as a child was average. She had a mom, a father, and a brother. Her older brother was sweet and caring: taking her to school each and every day while holding onto her hand as tightly as possible, making sure she ate each and every meal, and thoroughly checking that she does everything she needs to do. Her father, at that point in her life, was a workaholic who was trying to move himself up the long chain of business. And her mother, well, she was an interesting woman. Harue doesn’t remember her much because she was always closed off in her room, and then, one day, she was dead. And it was only her father and brother left. Her brother was only ten, and he was five; which meant, she really didn’t know her mother at all. And from what she knew, she wasn’t that great. Her mother was closed off, and thoroughly rude about nearly anything that Harue did. Harue, even at the tender age of five, was not good enough for her mother. Which, may be why she’s really not hurt—so much—by the fact she died. She knows that it hurt her father, because he loved her, and her brother—whom cared for her. But, it really didn’t affect her. After her mother died, her father moved her and her brother to a small apartment north of his work—still in Kobe. Because of that, frankly, she doesn’t remember her first home at all—nor her mother.

Growing up in the apartment, was interesting. Her father was still a workaholic, but cut back a little, so that he could be there with them for breakfast. For the most part, Harue was just around her older brother who acted like a parent—more than a brother. He took her to school, picked her up from school, fed her breakfast lunch and dinner, made sure she did her homework, and did all the healthcare hygiene she needed to do. He was extremely protective over the people she got to know, though, Harue didn’t real have any friends as a child. Instead, she was quiet and that may have to do with the fact that her brother didn’t like half of the people she wanted to befriend. At age ten she began to form an interest in becoming an idol—she first wanted to get into J-pop; but, that didn’t really turn out well because of her dislike for a majority of the scandalous attire many female Japanese idols have to wear. She researched day and night into a more proper industry—one that she could get into—before she settled on going into the Korean pop industry. She didn’t really talk about this with her family, until she got a bit older—nearly four years later—her brother had already gone to college so it was just her and her father. (Her brother was going to college in Osaka). She thought he wouldn’t let her go do it. Sense her mother wanted to be a singer; but, surprisingly (after hundreds of attempts of telling him) she told him and he agreed to let her pursue her dreams. With cash that was set aside for a vacation (that never happened) her father put her on a flight for Seoul, Korea

The plan was to audition for a few select companies (ones they had chosen) and then to come back home and wait for a call back to hear their decisions. But, after auditioning for NH media (with her little to no talent) they offered her a contract to which she called and skyped her father to see if it was good enough. And it was. She was immediately enrolled in a local performing arts school, where she met her best friends “gang”. A year later (at age fifteen, nearing sixteen) her brother caught wind of her living in Seoul by herself, he wasn’t happy. So, with his father’s help, he got a job at SBS studios as a just an assistant—and began watching over Harue, even though she felt it was stupid.  And now, so many years later, her brother’s life has improved—now that he’s a PD—and so has her father—now that he’s a manager, leaving her to try and advance in her career too.

FAMILY ☆

Mother, Aoi Yukie  34  Deceased  Standoffish & Nice  Harue and her mother Yukie, almost never got along. She came off as nice, and caring; but, she knew that her mother was nothing but. Yukie had this dream of becoming a singer, and when she had Shota and Harue, it was almost like that dream could never come true. She would trap herself in her room for days, not even letting her husband in. Harue learned from a young age that her mother blamed her and her older brother for never letting her live her dream. In the end, at the young age of thirty, her mother passed away. Harue has never been sure as to what. But, if she had to guess, it was probably depression.
Father, Aoi Shuma  53  Hotel Manager  Strict & Stern  Despite Shuma’s personality, he’s like a fluffy teddy bear around his two kids. He spoils Harue and Shota like no tomorrow—and even let Harue go to Korea to pursue her dreams. And helped Shota get a job at SBS as a producer when he wanted to follow Harue to Korea to keep her safe. Harue loves her father just as much as she loves her brother. And when things get complicated, she calls her father for support. If one thing could make her cry, it would be seeing her father in person sense she only sees him every once in a while.
Older Brother, Aoi Shota  28  PD for SBS  Small-Thinking & Hyper  Shota is everything that Harue is not. He’s kind, he’s funny, and he’s caring. He’s the guy you rely on when hits the fan. And even though the two have contradicting personalities, Harue loves her older brother the most in the world. He always seems to be there when she needs him, and has always made an effort to support her. Though, despite that, Shota is a bit of an airhead and can get many things mixed up, or confused. He also has a tendency to be rather gullible and falls for things easily.

Part of the so-called 'gang'/good friend, Mai Kongthai  23  Sales Manager  Strongwilled & Funny  Harue got along with Mai the best out of the other girls in their ‘gang’. She was hilarious, always cracking jokes, and was the only one who could ever get the girl to smile. She was also the first one she met out of the gang; after Mai “saved” her from a group of Korean girls who were shouting at Harue for being a ‘murderer’. They’ve been close friends ever sense, and keep in contact every once in a while. Whenever they meet up—with the other girls—they usually go out to bars and get drunk together.
Part of the so-called 'gang'/good friend, Xuan Dingdong  22  Freelance Journalist  Cute & Over the top  How you two met  ☆ Dingdong and Harue were complete opposites in the group; and yet, Harue felt like there was great responsibility for her because of her almost ‘innocent’ nature. Dingdong is the type of girl who does over the top aegyo without ever meaning to do so. And that aegyo used to bother the crap out of Harue, but now it’s just annoying. When the group goes out to drinks, Harue is the one who cuts Dingdong off from drinking—half way through—so that she doesn’t get drunk. Though, Dingdong always does get drunk and happens to look like ‘it’ from the Aadams Family soon after—leading Harue to take care of her.
Part of the so-called 'gang'/good friend, Angel Chiu  23  Barista  Obnoxious & Firm  Angel was like the leader of the group when they were kids; guiding Harue, Mai, and Dingdong wherever they go. She was the one who always had goals in life, and yet, was the only one in the group who bypassed college and travelled for two years before coming back to Korea and becoming a barista at Harue’s favorite coffee shop. Despite the difference as she grew, Angel has always been the girl that talks to loud, and won’t change her opinion. She’d practically fight someone if they dared to disagree with her.

The interview

I KNOW I'M A , BUT, STILL

tumblr_n8yphhk4Sz1rufh5do3_500.giftumblr_m8qtj7icBy1r3ttobo1_500.gif

COULD YOU PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF?

A small sigh leaves Harue’s mouth as she swipes a hand along the strands of her hair looming over her face. Her eyes snap upwards, just as she bows her head ever so lightly. “Hello, my name is Aoi Harue but you may know me better as Haru.”

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT IS YOUR ROLE, HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A TRAINEE?

Harue dampens her bottom lip—letting her tongue glide over—before she shifts one leg over the other. “I’ve been a trainee for about eight years, since I was sixteen,” Another one of her sighs leaves as she switches her legs again. “I’m hoping to be a main dancer and sub-vocalist; as that’s what I’m better at,” She takes a second, tilting her head in thought, before she continues. “As for myself? There’s not much. I’m twenty-three, going on twenty-four. I grew up in Kobe, Japan with my father and older brother before I moved to Korea to pursue my dreams.”

HOW WELL DO YOU THINK YOU'LL DO ON THE SHOW?

Harue’s demeanor doesn’t change, her face is still blank and emotionless. It’s the look her fans consider ‘resting--face’. “I’m sure I’ll do great; I have more talent in my pinky then half of the trainees do in their preferred talent.” A scoff leaves , and she uses her hand to cover up it up as a small chuckle leaves soon after.

HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU WERE NOT ABLE TO DEBUT?

She takes a deep breath in, letting it leave through her nose soon after. “How, do I put this nicely? If those foolish girls I’m competing with get picked over me—I’ll be livid. Some have only been here for a few months; I’ve been here for eight years. How would you feel?” Another chuckle leaves Harue’s mouth; except, this one sounds almost crude. “Foolish? For ever thinking you had the ability to achieve your dreams? Worthless? For seeing that you can’t? But,” She slides a finger against her lower lip, as she begins to smile, “That’s not going to happen. I’m going to debut. There’s no way those half-talented girls could ever debut over me. They’re not good enough.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?

A sly smile shifts onto her lips, “I’m going to crush everyone.”

If there's anything that needs to be fixed please tell me! (The so-called gang members don't have to show up in the story. I just put them there for reference; in cause you want Haru to mention them at some point. Really so that you can get a sense of who they are. Her brother and father are more important.)
