appearance ; huge is probably how one explain dobin. a huge piglet with cute eyesmile and deep dimples. dobin might not be the tallest but he is the heaviest, just look at his thight. fans call it honey thigh but dont you talk about it infront of it, if you makes fun of it you'll probably lost something. dobin, most of the time, actually wish to have thin lanky legs. but no matter how big his desire to go on diet, he always found himself nibling on pizza or eating ramyeon at ridiculous time aka dawn.
as for his face, dobin got a pretty scary face whenever he put a serious face on but he rarely show it since he laugh and smile a lot. dobin is also clean from tattoo and piercing.

 

style ; dobin doesnt really have any particular style he like. he always dress plainly, mostly in black hoodies. like 90% of his hoodies are black with different brand that honestly look similar. black isnt his very favorite color though, he just feel 'cool' in it and he think it suit him more than other color. the only color he add on his look is his snapback/caps. he likes caps a lot so he got a lot from a pretty girly color to army pattern. another things he use a lot is a green backpack with piglet keychain hangin on it and his round glasses. if you see dobin dresses fancy, its probably what the stylish told him to wear. there is two side of dobin you need to know. first of all is how he think of himself. when it comes to talent or skill, dobin always looks down at himself. he grew up with his father comparing him to his smart sister and it round this insecure personality of him. he always believe there is always something more than what he got. there must be someone out there who shine brighter. he always found a flaw in any of what he did thus it makes him willing to add extra time to learn, thus dobin always listen to critics he got so he can fix himself. its an usual sight to see dobin sits and watch varia's performance for at least 5 times and in a rare occasion of sensitive shin dobin, this piglet often presses to his hyungs to ask them does he look good enough, dont you think my hands' move not that sharp? is there anything i need to fix from my move? and other question. you can say dobin is always thirst or even greedy to improve himself. dobin is good with controlling his emotion but he isnt good with controlling this greed of improving. his hyungs are always the one who drag him home. its sometime piss dobin off because "i need to fix something hyuuuuung get off me!!" but he is also thankful that they are the one who comfort him and support him. and without them dobin is probably kill himself by practicing too hard. dobin's obssesion and love over dance is only separated by a thin line, honestly.
the other side of dobin is where the mess started. dobin is a good observer, he knows what people around him ( especially his hyungs ) hate and like just by watching them. how far he can pull his hyung's nerves and what can he do with that. dobin may looks like this calm and mature maknae but be careful, he might actually plan how to conquer the world. ok- maybe not that big. but who knows- dobin is unpredictable, he is actually smart but he uses his brain for weird things and weird experiment. he sometimes blurt out random fact that is too random, its seriously useless. the other useless thing he does with his brain is puling prank on the other. dobin able to sit for hours and watch his target just to make sure his secret mission on testing the other success. yes, he is mean, very mean. he will make it up to you later though, but still. he usual prank is mostly hiding your stuffs or lying to the other that there is someone calling them and its all just because he is bored. and if he does something really really mean, it means there is something wrong with dobin. he is either stressed over something or mad at you. dobin is the type that wont shout at you whenever he is mad, he is the type that plays behind your back to get his revenge. good things is he never really done that. dobin doesnt get mad easily, he is actually a warm teddy bear with a calm temper. he just doesnt show it often because for him, being 'soft dobin' is cringeworthy. dobin prefer to secretly 'show' that he cares. nothing big though, none probably realize and dobin himself never really go 'are you okay?' straight to their face. he will only tell them to put their stuffs nicely after he hides it or other small compliment and supportive words here and there.

dobin grew up as the only son of shin family. his only sibling was a 7 years older sister who was always busy with her study and got no time to play with him. his father was a businessman and his mother was a kindergarten teacher who retire after she gave birth to dobin. and just like other parents, dobin's father want the best for his kids, he is quiet crazy over education and highkey want his kids to be something like lawyer or businessman like him. so dobin was forced to study hard, he can actually deal with after school course but studying on holiday was dobin's nightmare and he couldnt run away from it. especially how dobin wasnt a top kid in his class, he was always this so so student. he a lot at math. he hate the subject with all his soul but his father always pressed him to study more and more. it was actually stressful, not to mention how his father always compared him with his smart sister. his parents and everyone kept on mentioning that dobin is the only son so he need to do well etc etc. but despite his strict father, his mother was pretty chill. she, different from her husband, loves art. she was the one introduce dobin to music and dance. she insist to made dobin join this korean traditional dance class when dobin was 7. she just watched this news that showed little kids dance for some traditional festival. dobin learned traditional dance for around 2 years before his father cut him off the class because his math went from c to f. few months later one of his friend from traditional dance class asked him to join hiphop dance class with him. dobin refused at first because all he want was his old traditional class back but his friend insist and said something like "its cooler! and modern! traditional class is meh". eventually dobin agree and beg to his parents. his father without any doubt refuse it, but his mother went all excited and let him took the class behind his father. the bad news was his father found out after only a year. it was when dobin injured his waist. it was really painful, he couldnt move at all and eventually missed some exam at school ( he almost fail the semester but thank god ). dobin was once again forced to stop. his father was real mad and threated him that he will disown dobin if he continue to do the "stupid dance" things.

dobin was 15 when his father passed away and dobin saw it with his own eyes. his father who was strong with his assertive personallity lying cold on hospital bed, lose to his sickness. dobin couldnt believe it, yes he hate his father but he never imagine losing his father, he couldnt take it. that was the worst moment of dobin's life, the last beeeeep that indicate how his father's heart stop wont stop replaying on his head, he couldnt forget how his mother cried, how his father last words for him sounds like a threat instead of last words. his last wish that demand dobin to continue what his father want. "stop fooling around and finish your study" he said "at least be a businessman instead of doing stupid things you do" he said. dobin knew perfectly what stupid things his father mention. this past few years, dobin was always sneaked out to watch freestyle battle at street or other place. dobin wanted to rip his hair off so bad, it was stressing. his mother was actually knew what dobin been doing behind her and her husband. who did you think duplicate the house keys and leave it at the most obvious place? she wanted his son to do what he actually want but it was also hard for her, she knew how her husband put so much hope on their only son. she need at least half a year to finally speak up and tell dobin to just continue what he like and dobin need another half year to finally brave himself and went back to dance. and looks like faith want him to keep on dancing because a tall man came to him and gave him kingdom's business card. the tall man promised him that this place called kingdom entertaiment wont waste his talent and other promises that tempted dobin to try the audition. so with that 17 years old dobin join kingdom entertaiment and start his new dream. he still need to finish his study in between though but "ohh idol and entertaiment world is business too, son!" is enough to make him sure its okay and he'll be okay.
