APPERANCE :
minjung is petite, and despite being made fun of for being short, she prides herself in it. it gives her an advantage in cheer, always being on top of the pyramid and being tossed up. her eyes are always outlined in a thin layer of kohl, lips ranging in a variety of reds and pinks. dark brown locks sitting at neck-length, she religiously wakes up at 5 am to curl it into waves, adding hairspray to make it stay. minjung has soft facial features, not sharp and model-like, giving her a youthful appearance. she's not exactly the prettiest in the bunch, but she's quite satisfied in her looks.
STYLE :
minjung adores chokers because it makes her look "so hot that junho will finally notice me". she typically dresses in a warm coat, over girlish outfits involving cute skirts and shorts. minjung seems to dislike wearing pants, and on cold days, she will be seen wearing either knee-high socks, tights, or leggings. ("it's cold as hell, why are you wearing shorts.." "um, because it's pretty?") she likes heels, but doesn't like the obnoxious sounds it makes, so she stuffs her high-tops and oxfords with insoles. minjung tends to wear anything that seems to be popular and trending, which sometimes, results in failed coordination of her clothes. thankfully, her brother's watchful eye usually saves her from embarrassment.

minjung tends to speak whatever is one her mind, and is easily manipulated; she believes whatever people tell her, and is incredibly forgetful.

as varsity cheer co-captain, minjung has quite the amount of endurance. that's probably it.
TIMELINE :
little suburban child, minjung is born two years after her brother, minjoon. she grows up fairly happy. minjung's parents support her and love her despite the lower than average grades she gets, because of that, she's always trying to earn money to buy or make gifts for them.
minjung joins the cheer squad in her freshman year, and she discovers what the loves the most; flying in the air, grin as bright as the sun, hearing all the yelling and cheering from her peers.

kang minjung is, basically, a living stereotype. she's not a bad peron, not really--she aims to treat people nicely and be kind (because that's what mom taught her, and she always listens to mom). but she's incredibly dimwitted, in sense that she doesn't really think through things. it might not be obvious, but minjung is self-conscious about it; she doesn't like being treated as a "dumb" person, especially by those younger than her, and so she tries her best to seem smart. (one time, minjung kept a thesaurus with her for three hours straight, using trivial words instead of vernacular words; no one understood her, including herself.) but it doesn't work out, and in the end, minjung is seen as that "stupid cheerleader who's probably also a " (when, she's really not. or, at least she hopes so.)
but she is still liked to some extent for her bright attitude and her attempts at trying to be friendly. minjung may cry from amounts of stress and hurtful words from mean strangers, but if those hurtful words and stress are put against people she loves, minjung will tear apart those strangers with no mercy.
she's not really the leader in groups of people, but she's more of the moodmaker, always trying to keep things upbeat and relatively calm. minjung hates to see people become sad, and will do all she can to bring happiness to them. of course, this can terribly backfire, for as empathic as she can be, minjung may unintentionally blurt out insensative sayings. people know she has good intentions, but...well.|

she lets out a rather comical squawk, eyes widened in horror. "m-me? kill? i cried at a gif of sad puppies last tuesday, because, well, have you seen those really sad gifs of those puppies with the really big eyes and the little--" she sighs out briskly. "--sigh, like that. what were we talking about again?"
"why did you-"
"OH!" she shuffles in her seat again, sniffling. "but um, i don't think i can kill. when my goldfish died in eighth grade because i forgot to feed him--please don't report me for animal abuse, i swear it was by mistake--i cried for a straight week to the point where minjoon bought me cake everyday to cheer me up. i don't think i could kill my mom, o-or my dad, 'cause i love them lots." a pause; her bottom lip quivers. "th-they were the only ones who b-believed i could do something wh-when everyone else l-laughed at me."
DID YOU HATE THEM, YOUR FAMILY? :
she lets out another squawk, eyes almost popping out of their sockets. "no! no, no, no, dear lord, i love my parents, okay? how can someone even h-hate their parents? heck, i l-love them so much that i can barely stay one day from home without missing them." she blinks repeatedly, tears starting to pool in her eyes. "a-and now they're gone...i don't...know...how i'm gonna stay alive..."
she carefully wipes away her tears, head tilting up. at the odd look from her interrogator, she settles her hands back in her lap, fingers playing with the edge of her skirt. "my eyeliner isn't w-waterproof, s-sorry." but that's a little irrelevant, considering the fact that her mascara has already run from countless hours of crying earlier, and the area around her eyes have been covered in black smudges.

she blinks, ceasing her sniffling. "who's that? should i know him?" minjung doesn't really pay attention to headlines; the advertisements always distract her.

cocking her head to the side, drops open. "there's other people that k-killed their family too? that's horrible!"
WHERE WERE YOU WHILE YOUR FAMILY WAS MURDERED? :
"i have a really strict schedule," she starts off slowly. "t-today, i was supposed to come home early because we don't have practice, but heeyoung was like. 'hey guys, i smuggled some vodka into school, let's try it out', and so we were like, 'okay!' i texted my parents that i was gonna come home late, and they were like, what are you doing? of course, i lied, 'cause you know, i'd get yelled at? but yeah. there wasn't a lot though. like none of us got really tipsy--" minjung temporarily forgets that she's talking to a police officer about underaged drinking, and continues her story quite animatedly, "--but we acted like we were, and that was like, fun for a couple of hours. then i got really tired, so i was like, okay guys! i'm gonna go home! so i took the bus home, and...yeah...." she stops suddenly, eyes glazed as the images of the scene flood her mind.
REACTION TO THE MURDER? :
her voice is a lot softer, and the weak smiles from before have vanished. "i...i was skipping, and dancing to old school kpop--y'know, boa and shinhwa, cause...cause my mom liked them a lot and she'd...she'd always play them...and i saw minjoon's car parked outside--which was odd, 'cause he was supposed to be at college, not home...but i didn't think. and i got really excited 'nd kept on yelling 'oppa, oppa' really loud, and i barged in, a-and..." she starts to shake. "b-blood...everywhere...'nd minjoon was w-wiping the floors, and he was crying and really h-hysterical..mom and dad were on the couch, and they...they were all s-still, and blood was e-everywhere....minjoon l-looked really scary, 'cause his hands, clothes, and f-face was also smeared in blood...like, that scene in c-carrie where pig blood gets d-dumped all over her? and he was chanting 'mom never liked messes , so i c-can clean it for her', o-over and over again.."
"and--and he crawled over to me, and i got s-so scared that i screamed, and minjoon immediately put his hands--they were warm, really, really warm--over my mouth and told me to s-stop..i don't want to believe it, i'm s-sure something went wrong--my brother's a r-really good person, i pr-promise you; i just think s-something happened at that time, because h-he was really crazy and scary and...that person... just wasn't my brother." she breathes erratically, chest heaving up and down. "i tried to get away, and i b-begged him to let me go, but he hugged me really tight and he..refused...and by then i was.." she begins to cry, bottom lip jutted out as tears spill from her eyes.
"i t-told him that we n-needed to call the police, that it was the r-right thing to do, but he w-wouldn't let me, said that 'they'd' take m-me away, 'nd h-held me tighter. but i t-told him m-mom always t-taught us to do the r-right things, so h-he let me, a-and i c-called the police..."
her teeth sink into her bottom lip, chewing it slowly as she fidgets. "i kn-know my brother d-did wrong, and i-i'm really s-scared of him t-too, but minjoon is a r-really good person at h-heart, and p-please d-don't hurt him, i th-think something m-made him d-do that--if you w-watch those movies, th-they're always like, 'do this o-or i'll kill the p-person you love the m-most' and m-maybe he h-had a girlfriend, o-or something that h-he loved a lot." she rubs at her eyes furiously, smearing kohl and tears everywhere.
"m-minjoon...i l-love minjoon a lot, and h-he would never do s-something rash l-like this..i th-think..i think maybe he went i-insane at that moment, 'c-cause when i c-came home, that w-wasn't the m-minjoon i grew up with..." and she trails off, breaking down into another wave of tears. the interrogator says something, but she just shakes her head, curling up tighter into a ball. "i w-want...." and the words 'minjoon' seem to linger at her lips, but the image of her bloody brother floods her mind; minjung cringes, head shaking more vigoriously, "to go home..."
COMMENTS : hi! there's been a lot of dark
fics lately, so i wanted to try something new;
minjung isn't exactly a mary-sue (hopefully
not, i didn't aim her to be one, but please
do let me know if she sounds like one)
but she's more of a comic relief kind of
character!
and um, she doesn't reall know much about
the stuff happening around her because she
doesn't pay attention; and to clear up things,
minjung believes that her brother murdered
their family, but attempts to justify it for herself.
