My initiation to the Kworld

I was quite illiterate about Korean culture. Considering my best friend is a Korean , it's sad I know. But I did learn a few words in Korean,  the first one being 배고파 ,  because you never know when one might need food! As you can see, my priorotise are very clear.

My idiocy was such that when my friend- let's refer to her as 'Joo'-talked about Kdramas , I thought she used to watch literal dramas that were held on stage. Like those Shakespeare dramas if you know what I mean. Except in Korean and more Korean like if you may. It took me moving to a new school to find out I was wrong.

New school, new friends, and new outlook on Kculture. It took them a lot of pursuading me to watch my first kdrama, which I remember was 'Mary stayed out all night'. This drama completely changed me and since then I've fallen in love with Korean culture, if I could, I would marry the culture. Like a friend from this forum told me, once you start you get addicted.

Now even though I loved the culture, it took my friends another bout of persuading(I'm so stubborn right) to make me listen to kpop. Again, I grudgingly listened to keep them happy, but I ended up falling in love with it (surprise surprise). BTS is my favourite and even after listening to many other groups, many of which I've liked, I've never loved any of them as much as BTS of course.

After all this, I excitedly told Joo how I've fallen for her culture . She just looked at me weirdly and said "조글레". For a second I was dumbstruck,  shouldn't she be happy that we have another thing in common. The phenomena she's been waiting for me to enjoy like she does, shouldn't she be happy that I do now.

Turns out she was angry that I couldn't start liking it when we were together in the same school. She was pissed that my new friends were the reason I started loving Kculture. But her mood brightened as we started discussing stuff, she missed me after all, as did I her. She complimented me about my improvement in the language, and she said my accent was good. It really does make your day when a Korean says they like your Korean! !!!

So that's my new blog post, I enjoyed writing it!!! I'm really sorry about the mistakes in spellings in my Korean words. I'm still learning to read, write and speak the language. Quite a short post though.  I do want to write more though I'm absolutely clueless as to what to write.
