Rei : レイ : The name his mother gave. Originally intended to be his real name, this quickly changed when his birth father decided to bring him back to Korea, where the roots of the Han family was at. It is also the underlying reason that he’s choose to go by the stage name ‘Ray’, as it contains cherished memories that were deeply buried in his heart, though both facts are not known to many except a trusted few.
Ray : 레이 : The name of his stage persona. he’d prefer it if people address him by his Korean name, it didn’t bother him too much when they failed to do so though.
Gangnam-boy : 강남 소년 : The tease-name from the older members of the company. Being among the younger trainees when he first got in, he was easily coined the nickname due to his wistful mistake of putting the address of his father’s other apartment in when he was asked to fill in his personal information for the company.

Korean : semi-fluent
Fair-skinned, cat eyes, center parting; these are all terms that are usually commented on Soohyun’s facial appearance. Physical-wise he would be lean, though he wouldn’t have agreed on the description of him being ‘tall’ – 178 would never be tall enough in Soohyun’s dictionary, not that he was complaining, of course. Perhaps it was due to the fact that he was raised in the Gangnam-gu during his adolescent years, he is rather self-conscious of his appearance and of course, fashion; although the years spent within the confinements of the company had led him from sporting the far-from-modest clothing apparel to perfecting the somewhat-simple-yet-classy look.

Onstage he is the epitome of the perfect idol. From friendly fan services to fans to polite greetings to the staff and crews, not one step would be forgotten by Soohyun. Given that he was one of the longest trainees in the company, he would’ve known and mimicked all the possible good traits of his precedent seniors and idols and applied them all on daily basis by the time he debuted. He was hard-working, sincere and responsible, to the point of pursuing perfection during every hour of his working moments.
Offstage- well, reserved would be one way to describe him, distant would be another. He keeps to himself most of the time, and even though he isn’t outright rude to the other members, it just happened that he gives off the ‘cold vibes’ that most of them would just leave him be. However he is not to be mistaken as standoffish, or even arrogant, for he is nothing like that. Soohyun is ever willing to listen to ’s problems and suggestions and would take them to his heart – whether by showing that he cares in more realistic ways or by improving in whatever aspects the others had commented on. But beware of his infamous sharp tongue, sometimes the words that rolled off his tongue wouldn’t sound as pretty as he looks – just don’t cross him on the bad side of his book and you’ll probably be fine.
He was born to a lovely Kyoto geiko in the 10th of May 1995, and since then his father figure had remained a mystery throughout his childhood years, though it did not bother young Rei much at that time – being surrounded by a number of beautiful women had made him less aware of the fact that there should be an older man in the family.
Though at the age of seven he was granted his first meeting with his birth father – a man of another land, he remembered thinking, for he spoke an unknown language when not talking to his mother or the other geikos. The man had offered to bring his son over to his mother nation, and had in return promised to pay all bills of the okiya (geisha house) and every other payments needed. His mother, in consideration of Rei’s overall welfare and her own declining health, decided to finally bid her goodbye with her own son.
One would thought that in arriving to a new country, he would’ve had a far more complete family life than being in Japan, but other than the official name change there was nothing more to it – he stayed in a separate apartment in Gangnam-gu away from his father’s family and his everyday life was being taken care of by a personal butler. Rei – now Soohyun – could not comprehend it then, but his father’s ulterior motive of bringing his illegitimate son over to Korea was only to be made as the successor of his heritage line – one that has no relations to him now that he’d officially cut off his ties from the older man – He’d had a young son of his own by now, anyway.
ice cream : despite being in line for the next debut, Soohyun could never say ‘no’ to an ice cream treat, especially to mint chocolate or greentea ones.
rainy days : for some reason he loves the rain, so much that he’d have stayed under it for hours, if not for the precious apparel that was sadly, not meant for rainwater-soaking, that is.
cats : whatever fascinations of his with cats must’ve started since young, for there used to be lots of stray cats that passed by the okiya during the mornings.
fashion : it was something he’d grown to be sensitive about throughout his years of living in Gangnam-gu – one just can’t simply walk out to the streets wearing clothes of horrible taste in Gangnam-gu.
hot summer days : as opposed to rainy days, he hated it the most when clothes cling onto his wet, perspired-covered skin.
people with terrible fashion sense : he would have to refrain himself from giving the poor guy a once over, a gracious eye-roll accompanied by a shake of his head.
stupidity in general : because who the hell likes stupid people?
photography : it is one thing he’d come to appreciate, thanks to his birth father who happened to bought an extra camera for him coincidentally on his fifteenth birthday.
clicking his tongue whenever he disapproves of something : he tried to make it subtle everytime it happens, he swore he tried.
singing or humming in the bathroom : although he would deny it outright if you ever confront him about it.
he was used to crossdressing into girls and had thought nothing about it until The Scandal happened – he was raised in a house full of beautiful geikos, after all.
Perhaps it was due to the fact that he was raised in a house full of women, or that he was too used with the antics of the female species that he found them unable to attract his attention any longer. Thus he was more or less unsurprised when he realized that he was indeed homoual in nature.
His favourite song genre ranges from soothing ballads to rhythmic pops and even to rock band musics – it just depends on whichever mood he was feeling up to on that particular moment.
One would tend to say that he has a permanent frown etched on his beautiful porcelain features or that he has a poker face up front, but really though, it was just his normal blank look when he wasn’t doing anything.
His eyebrows are pretty expressive though, and it was rumoured that he could even do a wave-dance with his brows. Good luck on asking him to do that though.
Mother : 母さん : The one who contributed to the Japanese blood in him. Generally his memory of his mother was of a hazy one, as he was too young then to be able to fully understand and appreciate her before it was too late; however, whatever rare memories he could recall amidst the haze would ever be of fondness towards the woman.
birth Father : 아버님 : As much as he didn’t want himself to be of any relations with his birth father, Soohyun had to owe it all to the older man for his smooth and comfortable adolescent years living in gangnam-gu. His opinion of his birth father was no much more prominent than of his beloved mother’s, for it was rare for him to be able to meet up with the busy entrepreneur.
buddy : 강영현 : His relationship with Younghyun - or better known as Young K – had been a wondrous one; they started off by being sceptical of each other, with Soohyun thinking the other was a mannerless hoobae (oh the guts he have when he ordered Soohyun to bring him some lunch, albeit jokingly) and the latter, thinking the formal, a stuck-up prince. However it only took them mere weeks to get used to each other’s way of communication and had, since then, survived through thick and thin together.
Crush : 강영현 : at some point in his lifetime he’d developed a crush on his best friend Younghyun, but somehow it didn’t work out as how he’d have expected it to be and the crush had since remained a secret from the clueless hyung – although Soohyun had lost the initial romantic interest towards the other by now.
As expected, life of a trainee idol was ever harsh and never would Soohyun thought he’d still be able to endure it for the past years, especially since he was rather accustomed with having all of his needs met no matter in what circumstances. He was supposed to debut in the early year of 2011, alongside with some other trainees to form a five-person boyband. However Soohyun did not make it to the final cut when a sudden scandal popped out, just weeks before the big debut, forcing the company to halt all propagandas on him and, finally, the boyband proceeded away – but as a four-member group.
At that point of his life he wondered what had he been doing with his youthful years, and gone was the passion that once burned through the entire being of him. his trainee life was put on a halt – he was given two years off for his studies, and so that's what he did. the gap years changed his thoughts mindset altogether and he grasped on the slim chance when the company decided to take him back once again. Soohyun managed to pull through all the routine works, practices, vocal trainings – until the very day he was presented a second chance at debuting.

january 2011 : a video of him strip teasing on another guy’s lap while crossdressed as a girl during one of the trainees’ celebratory party was leaked out and despite the crowd not knowing (that it was Soohyun), the company had pulled him out from the initial debut list. The very scandal hit him hard on the guts and had thoroughly shaken his belief and every other things he’d taken for granted of.
Yimin was one of the company’s brought-in trainee when Soohyun was away, and for some reason (perhaps it was embarrassment and shame) he’d kept quiet about his past trainee background when he was re-introduced, and was more than happy to let the other male and the rest thought that he was a mere newbie.
Perhaps it was the fact that he was also a ‘mixed-bred trainee’ like him, or that he reminded him of himself in some way or another, that all these had made Soohyun willing enough to open up and accept the other trainee into a part of his otherwise closed-off life. Being more or less the more-experienced one in the entertainment industry (past experiences counted), Soohyun had, in his own discreet ways, helped the other in adapting to the harsh life of Korean entertainment company trainees; and in return, Yimin had showed him the promising aspects of having a close friend with the same goals and similar mindsets.
Though it wasn’t sure as of how that close-friend relationship turned out to be something more; perhaps it was the innocent, lingering touches when they passed by one another, the brief smiles they shared during dance practices, or was it the exhilarating eye contacts when they thought no one was watching, or even the late night tangles of limbs under a shared bed, no one knows for sure.
Okay so firstly forgive me if I don’t make sense in anyway bc it was like 5 in the morning when I was done with all these (hopefully it’ll make more sense after I edited it in the morning).
Secondly it's about soohyun's past trainee life, i hope that bs made sense to you omg. basically he was out from the same company from february 2011 until somewhere around december 2012, he took on to further his studies in an international school (i made up a stupid name for it yes) in the march 2011 intake and had since laid low, except for the instances when he joined the two competitions for fun. so basically when his team won the battle of the bands JYP contacted him once again and had somewhat asked him to come back into the company, on the terms (soohyun's) that no one is to mention about his past training times ever again. thus the older crews and workers in jyp would've actually known him but are refrained from making it too obvious for others to wonder.
thirdly, I have no idea on how young k's personality is tbh - heck i didn't even know day6 and twice is from jyp until you mentioned it omg (i love congratulations and ooh-ah so much tho), i'm basing his personality from winner's mino (loud, who knows how to be serious when he's supposed to) and it's totally fine on how you portray young k though (since you prolly know how he is much better than me in general), just know that he's the one soohyun would go to whenever he's down or he has anything to say or show (like a dongsaeng to a close hyung).
fourthly I’m not sure if you’d like it but I kinda took up your offer to pair my chara with yours? I mean it’s not for the brownie points (I swear not) but somehow it’d be kinda exciting to see two people of similar personalities being somewhat attracted to each other, like some underground r/s or something. I’m tempted to add on some more matured scenes but idk if you’d like it or not so I decided against it. And oh if you’re ever keen on the Soohyun-Yimin r/s thing it’s totally up to you to portray either of them as the top or bottom in the r/s too!

In which Soohyun was being a to some other people and one pointed look from Yimin managed to shut the older up, raising eyebrows from a few people (bc soohyun is famous for his snarky replies during his offstage moments after all)
In which Yimin secretly wonders the reason of Soohyun and Young K’s close-knitted r/s even though (he thinks) Soohyun entered the company at a much more later time.
In which Young K fails to control his big mouth during a small get-together and had almost spill out about Soohyun’s embarrassing moments when he was a trainee in the past – he was eventually shut up by the younger male himself of course.
