appearance : wooji's natural hair color is obviously black, but jyp has convinced him to go lighter colors recently (colors ranging from pink, lavender, and platinum blond). only has one ear pierced (left earlobe). wooji is practically blind without his glasses, but tends to use contacts and only using his glasses in the dorms or when he runs out of contacts. under his clothes, wooji is pretty small. his small body usually makes people think he's much younger than he really is, which his short height doesn't help that either. many scars are placed on his body, mainly on his arms and thighs with a few spotted on his chest and lower legs. his skin is really pale, so his scars can only be seen when in direct light.

nam wooji was a miracle child. his mother had a hard time getting pregnant in the first place, finally getting pregnant with wooji after years of trying. his birth was just as hard, his mother being in labor for more than eight hours, but he was finally in his mother's arms. he was the light of both of his parents' world. the miracle they've always wanted.
due to his father's work ethnic, his family ended up moving to his mother's birthtown of changsha, hunan, china with his mother's native family. wooji was only ten, but his mother had been teaching him chinese so he wasn't held behind in school.
life in changsha was normal and perfect, if school was left out of the equation. school was something wooji would of ignored. not the education itself, it was more of the people there. wooji was the type of person who would read a book than go party. books were his secret world. others thought he was a nerd, calling him names or messing with him when he was near. with his father's occupation, he was on the school's every day due to his son's bullying. he really hated the school seeing as they hardly do anything to help the bullying. wooji ignored everything around him and just continued on.
when wooji was fifteen, a tragedy happened. his father happened to have a day off, so he joined his wife into picking up their son from school. on the way back home, they stopped at a red light and immediately hit by a drunk diver head on. the car swerved and rolled multiple times. his parents were reported dead on scene. wooji was rushed to the hospital where he went into emergency surgery for his six broken ribs, fractured arm, glass shards embedded into his head, and severe blood loss along with internal bleeding. the surgery was a minor success, healing most of his injuries, but unfortunately wooji had a bad allergic reaction to the anesthetics and fell into a coma.
for three months, wooji was kept under watch at the hospital with no idea about his parents.
a week after he woke up, wooji was under the care of the state as he had no other relatives willing to take him in. school became hell. the bullies knew all about what had happened. and they all blamed him for his parents' death. it would explain his intovertedness. wooji couldn't handle it anymore. along with the bullying, nightmares plagued his dreams at night. nightmares about the accident, his parents' death replaying every night. with nothing able to keep him grounded, wooji started to believe the bullies and blamed himself for their death. he begun to self harm, that being the only way to deal with the stress and guilt.
a year later, wooji had the luck of being adopted by a wonderful couple. why would they want a sixteen year old mess up anyway? bunko had the unfortunate ability of not being able to bear children. the couple were looking for children, but when they found wooji, it was like it clicked. they took him in and got the care he really needed.
the first year back in busan with his new parents were slow, but worth it. with a new therapist and actually having people there to rely on helped him in the healing process. he still has a long way to go, but the recovery journey is worth it.
one of the many things his therapist had him do during his appointments was see what kind of hobbies to keep him occupied from self-harm. quickly she found what a hidden talent wooji had for singing, finding out that wooji's mother used to be a singer at a local bar. his therapist in turn told his adoptive parents about his ability and embraced his desires for wanting to do a career in singing, in memory of his mother. when jyp began auditions again, bunko pleaded with jyp to let her baby audition. she knew his issues, so she begged for a private audition for wooji. jyp gave into her pleas, letting wooji audition in private. it was a good thing he did because wooji has been one the best trainees he's ever had.

TRAINEE life :
wooji first joined jyp entertainment when he was seventeen, encouraged by bunko when she worked for the company. he was accepted through a private audition, from bunko's reccomendation, and, well, jyp instantly felt for the poor kid. i mean, how can you when his voice sounds like angels and the fact that he's so small like a little child. he was taken under bunko's wing, of course.
first two years were harsh, but wooji had better chances when he was at the jyp building instead of at school. many of the trainees were considerate of the little boy (that and if anything ever happened to him, bunko would tear you in two). unlike school, wooji was treated nicely and hardly experienced the bullying like he did at school.
during his yearly evaluation, wooji had given jyp some sample music he had been producing independently for a few months. jyp was thoroughly impressed with the samples he was given and soon enough, he even started letting wooji help produce music for some of the artists.
during the last two years of his training, wooji has been learning new wAYS TO COPE WITH HIS ISSUES AND HAS BEEN EXCELLING IN HIS TRAINING. JYP DEEMED IT WAS TIME FOR WOOJI TO DEBUT.
