Things need to be said about this whole Ikon vs. Shinhwa situation

Things need to be said about this whole Ikon vs. Shinhwa situation.

Trigger Warning (I'm going to be using Red/orange/redorange/persimmon/tangerine/cinnamon as my colored texts.)

I’m gonna cut this straight and say hey guys I’m back. But I’m back with a rant. A rant involving the kpop community and my disappointment to many of ya’ll. Some of you have been acting very childishly to every single thing just so that you can justify your hatred towards a rookie group. Let me get this straight. I’m currently trying to get back to the current kpop thing now. I’ve been MIA, and I see Ikon as rather promising. If they do flop, then that’s too bad. Move on, but you guys seem to judge too early. Especially some of you Shinhwa/DBSK fans about the whole COLOR thing. And I know you’re here with your mouth ready to spit on me and call me all the derogative names you want, but you’ve shaded way more people than I have. I’m only being nice and trying to be patient with some of your comments that sound rude. You guys mask it as truth. But to me what you think is truth is only validated by you. So I’ll give you some truth and maybe you can listen and be less immature.

1. It’s just a color.

Yes, I know. It sounds so surreal. It’s just a color. And if you look closely…THEY AREN’T EVEN THE SAME SHADE OF ORANGE…WOW…HOW DID THAT HAPPEN…

OH YEAH…WE KNOW HOW TO MIX COLORS NOW BECAUSE IT’S NO LONGER 2000 B.C.

And to add to that, it’s not even an issue if it were just the same color. How many colors are there in the rainbow? 100? Where is your brain? There are only 7. And there are millions of other idols/groups who have used orange/red or a shade of orange as their color. Why is it that Ikon gets the most backlash? Hmmm? Maybe you just want to justify your hatred for Ikon? What have they done to you personally to make you this bitter? And I’m not only talking to Shinhwa’s fandom, but I’m also talking to you fellow Cassies. Why redirect your hate on Ikon? My queen Hyuna did a song called "Red"? I'm not saying you should shower your hate on her too, but maybe you should actually start not caring about colors and just appreciate the entertainment, right?

2. Deal with this crap on a private manner, not in a public forum.

I know you have an issue, and if it bothers you don’t go to social media to complain especially if it’s gonna fuel a lot of fan wars. And you know how fans don’t really care about shaming the Kpop group. Again, it’s unnecessary, cut it out.

3. It’s not about the color or the fans. It’s about the talent. It’s about the music.

I don’t care if Ikon has the prissiest or most spoiled members in Kpop. I don’t feel like I should be involved with them personally, but if their music is my taste then why do we have to care about their attitudes. Why do we have to personalize everything? They don’t even know us. Sorry fans, but it’s time to get a reality check. Your ShinHwa/DBSK is not perfect nor are they the best things in the world to other peoples’ standards. Just because they are older or more "respected", doesn't mean I have to bow down to them on my knees and kiss their feet. I have my own opinions. You may not like them. You may not appreciate my music taste, but they're mine. Same with you Ikon fans. Humble yourselves down. This is why I came to Kpop because I enjoy the music. I enjoy the difference in style in what Kpop has to offer me. I do enjoy a lot of DBSK songs, but I won’t say they have the best songs for me. To you, you might think they are legends and the nicest people there are in this planet, but to me they are great. That’s it. If DBSK had 2 or 3 fans, I would still listen to them. You guys need to stop taking this sh*t so personally. This is the reason why I moved to K-indie, to avoid individuals like you. It’s not that I don’t like you. You just need a reality check.

4. The Narrative: “You don’t understand Kpop fandom culture, you noob!”

First off, oh I know how it is. I know how it is being a fan since 2007. I get it, fans only want to support their idols in the most positive way? Am I right? Okay, you see my sarcasm. I do understand that there are good things in the Kpop fandom that I enjoy, but sometimes you guys really don’t understand the truth about the Kpop fandom culture.

Sasaengs. Kpop idols getting chased by stalkers causing them to get into accidents and forcing them to not only get bodyguards, but also to lose connection with the fans that really care for them.

Don’t give me the “Oh, they are not REAL fans.” What is a real fan? Tell me? All the qualifications. I’m pretty sure no one really is a REAL fan. If you were a real fan, you wouldn’t even be batting an eye at this color debacle anyway unless you’re like me who’s frustrated that this mess is what I see on my Twitter feed 24/7. If you are not me or have the same situation, you have the need to feel like you have to insult another group/fandom to make yourself look better and more “truthful”. Claps to you…You remind me of the people who complained about those red Starbucks cups. You also remind me of the people who tell me that I should be in a certain religion in order to satisfy their faith, and that I should denounce other people of a different race/ual preference in order to bring forth the testimony of my faith. The real fans don’t really care about this crap because they are already validated that their idol or group is great and they do not need a color or emblem to show their love for their group. Just by hearing them sing, they sing along with them and cherish their songs. This shows the real spirit of the group and the fandom…not the colors, mind you…Just maybe...maybe get rid of the haterade. And out of all the things YG has done, this should be the least of your worries.

Dating “scandals”.  I put the scandals in quotation marks because I don’t believe they are scandals. Whenever an idol gets a dating scandal, they get antis/decrease in fans and death threats. They aren’t seen as single anymore so you don’t have a chance with them, so you go on social media and disgust the human race by insulting the idol that got involved with your favorite idol in a dating rumor. Don’t say, “Hey I don’t see anyone doing this? Why accuse us?” Just go to your local fan account on any social media. Just saying. There’s a spooky witch hunt going on.

Manners and nitpicking at each person’s action without any context. Yes, you’ve shielded your favorite idol because k-netizens accused your idol of being ill-mannered. Yeah, that’s part of the Kpop fandom culture. Because you want your idols to be polite. You want them to act respectful because that is part of the culture that Korea and Kpop has. No matter how crappy that person feels during that day, there are no excuses because that is the culture. And if you don’t follow along, you’re pretty much in the next article ready to be criticized. And even other fans criticize their own idols for it which is a brave thing for them. Other fans would criticize another idol’s actions and tell the fans of that idol that they are being too overprotective. I’ve seen it happen too much…just over some idol looking at the ground or talking too much. I’ve also seen fans shielding their idols when the idols have clearly done something wrong.

Cosmetic Surgery. Whenever an idol is not perceived as beautiful by their standards, they’ll get ridiculed by another person. In order to feel accepted and grasp as much fans, you need to get cosmetic surgery to be considered beautiful. And be honest, would you be a fan of a certain group if they weren’t as pretty or beautiful? Let’s be honest. Let’s all be real. JaeJoong is handsome, and I admire his talents as well. But he’s very handsome and that’s one of the reasons why he was very popular back in the day. If he wasn’t popular, I would’ve not paid attention to him at all or even the band if he were not popular. And this does not only apply to him, but many other groups. There’s nothing wrong with cosmetic surgery or admiring someone for their looks, but it’s a bit of a sad truth. You can take it in any way you like. But it’s there.

JUST BECAUSE ITS A CULTURE, DOESN'T MEAN IT'S GOOD.

I’m out. Probably not going to be back due to my busy schedule.
