40 Questions for Fanfic writers
Oh, hello there!
I just saw that this is kind of popular so why not do it? Might be fun~
Let's start!
Describe your comfort zone—a “typical you” fic.
Okay, my comfort zone would definetely be angst. I like reading angsty fanfics (I also read fluff otherwise I'll be locked up in a mental institution), but I also like horror and supernatural, and you can never say no to a good criminal/thriller fanfic, can you? I'm also very, very open-minded and as long as the plot is good and the story itself readable, I'll enjoy it.
Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
Do you know that moment when you have so many good ideas after watching a documentary? Or a good western movie or stuff like that? And then you get in the mood, yeah let's do this, characterization, plot, the dialogue and then it dawns on you
'Um, how exactly did they live again? Did they sleep on the floor? On grass? Who was the king at that time? Who was the leading country? What did I want to write again?'
And you just lose it. So yeah, it'd probably be historicalAU's since I at keeping tracks on dates and years and important people.
Is there a trope you wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole?
Mpreg stories. I sometimes DO enjoy reading some of those, but the mere thought of writing one seems disturbing. I cannot imagine myself thinking about all the complications that would arise with that..condition, the childbirth, where is gonna get out from? Like, um, someone enlighten me, please?
How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
Um. I don't know really. Writing? I'm still trying out different styles and I would like to specialize in writing angst, so I'm trying harder to reach the level I'm happy with.
Share one of your weaknesses.
Oh God. F L U F F. I so HARD in writing fluff it's not even FUNNY anymore. It either turns out too cheesy or too - how should I say this? - weird? Completely out of character? Ugh.
Share a snippet from one of your favorite pieces of prose you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
For this one, I think I'll say it's the beginning of my newest story I'm in the process of writing, 'Garden of Sinners'. The chapter is not yet updated, but I think I can say that I like this one,
Sehun liked to think that he had gone through enough to say that he'd seen and experienced everything the varying human nature could offer.
Hate, envy, lust, misery, sadness, madness.
Of course, none of these periods of an emotional turmoil did he experience in the same day, same week or year. All of them came periodically just like the moon would change and the leaves would slowly die at the hands of merciless cold and wind, and Sehun would usually be left just like that after each and every escapade of some troubled soul;
Beaten, battered, angered and so utterly broken like the fine china his mother would keep on the highest shelf in their dining room. And each time, he has to piece himself back together; yet Sehun wasn't perfect nor will he ever be; he has cracks and ruptures that won't heal no matter what.

That'd probably be a conversation between Chanyeol and Sehun in 'Broken':
„Sehun, why don't you leave?“ Chanyeol asks one day when he finally gets to be alone with him, and almost flinches when Sehun looks at him with haunted eyes,
„I love him, Yeol.“ He whispers in defeat, shoulders slumping as if someone dropped lead onto those frail bones and he's slowly fading away.
„He doesn't love you, Sehun. He's killing you, draining you.“
Suddenly, dead eyes are set ablaze as fury ignites those botomless pits of anguish and Chanyeol winces,
„You wouldn't know love, Chanyeol,“ he spits with venom burning on his tongue, „you wouldn't understand the meaning of it.“
Chanyeol sighs and takes Sehun's cold hands and turns the boy to himself
„I know love, Sehun,“ he whispers indigantly, „love means to protect. To cherish. To accept. Love means to see the person for the flaws and imperfections they're made of, for the cracks in their forehead or the crinkle in their eyes, to accept their beauty in the daylight and their ness under the moon. Love means to see and understand that we do not possess someone, we help them through life, through thick and thin, through thorns and roses, and help them to their happy ending.“ He says in conviction, and he leans closer, smelling the chocolate in Sehun's trembling breath and seeing his image in watery eyes,
„Love means to accept that we're only a supporting character in their story.“
(you guys probably think otherwise, lol)
Which fic has been the hardest to write?
The fic I'm still working on but is close to ending, 'Voices'. Gosh, it's draining me. Oh, and 'Kill your Darlings'. It's the first multi-chapeterd story I'm working on, and it's really, really hard. Thankfully I'm getting help from my favourite baes here~
Which fic has been the easiest to write?
I'd say it was 'Broken'. I was in the mood and I had inspiration, so the words just kept coming.
Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby?
Passion. My family claims it's a hobby; not really. I love writing and it relaxes me; no matter how difficult the theme I've chosen is, or how cramped my schedule is, writing helps me relieve some mental pressure and exhaustion. I also feel at..home when writing.
Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?
In all disgusting honesty; I get inspired by literally everything. It could be the weather, a show I watched, a scene I witnessed or even a conversation I had with a friend.
What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?
Don't be scared. Don't hesitate. Do what you enjoy, write down what makes you happy; you're writing no for the sake of others; you write because you feel good, because you want to, and not because you're forced to. Don't ever let anyone belittle you or your skills; whether in grammar or generally in writing. Practice makes perfect. It takes time and effort but just believe in yourself. You can do it.
What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?
I don't think there's a thing like 'bad writing advice'. Of course, maybe not all advices may prove that useful to you, but you could always find something in which you recognise your weakness, and adapt the advice to your own situation.
If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
The fic I'd like to be filmed would probably be 'Voices'. I'm curious as to what that would turn out to be.
If you could only write one pairing for the rest of your life, which pairing would it be?
It may sound ridicolous but; I'd probably stop writing. I can't limit myself to one pairing. Because everday I see the potential in a ship I've never considered, I see some hidden meaning behind every accidental brush of fingers or a casual arm over the other's shoulder. There's so much to explore in their personalities, how their relationship would work. It's simply mesmerizing, at least to me.
Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?
Out of the order; it's a freaking mess. Sometimes even, the very first scene I write is the ending. Out of the ending, I always try to get the best out of it; I'm trying to pull the rest of the plot out of the sad, happy, or bittersweet ending.
Stephen King once said that his muse is a man who lives in the basement. Do you have a muse?
Of course I have; that'd be the happy lot I call my friends (on and off AFF)
Describe your perfect writing conditions.
Anywhere, anytime. Literally. On the bus, even in the middle of an argument, in the early morning.
How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?
Once or twice.
Choose a passage from one of your earlier fics and edit it into your current writing style
None.
If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?
Answer above.
Have you ever deleted one of your published fics?
Yes.
What do you look for in a beta?
Honesty. Come on. Throw it at my face, don't be a kiss-. We can go through this, baby.
Do you beta yourself? If so, what kind of beta are you?
No, I don't beta. It requires great skill to look past your own preferences regarding the story itself and only to focus on advising the author on how to improve it, but still to stay original. I'd get too caught up in the plot and would probably change it. A lot.
How do you feel about collaborations?
As long as we're on the same page, we can climb Mont Everest.
Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
