PERSONALITY TRAITS: not arrogant, hardworking, smart; insecure, pessimistic, curses a lot.

PERSONALITY:  

 

     Jung Hwana was raised by her parents to be hardworking and humble. She is not arrogant [she doesn't like those kinds of people]; she doesn't brag about her skills and her intelligence. She would just help anyone in need without asking anything in return. She used to help her classmated with their lessons before, but she doesn't really shout out that "HEY I KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS WHY DON'T YOU ARE YOU STUPID". She's hardworking since she doesn't settle for mediocre outcomes. She wants her work to be of the best quality. Her parents had this rule that "if you want something, you have to work hard for it". That aslo drove her to be hardworking.

 

     Her brother calls this her Jekyll and Hyde disorder. Hwana likes to be around people, especially the ones she's close to. But there are times that she wouldn't know how to act around people and thus she turns antisocial or socially awkward. She would be quiet all of a sudden because she would think that she couldn't relate to the people around her and they would not want her around. She also doesn't know how to react to compliments because she's never received them before so she just awkwardly laughs it off and says thank you.

 

     Insecurity. Hwana could be insecure at the most random-est of times. Like out of nowhere she would just say negative things about herself [things like why am I so fat? Why am I so ugly?] and be pessimistic and gloomy for the rest of the day. When her insecurity strikes she isolates herself. She would for example stay in her room, talk to no one and refuse to let anyone enter her room. It usuallt takes a few hours for her to be back to her old self. Her family learned to not bother her during her episodes since if she was disturbed she would lash out, not caring who was there. The main causes of her insecurity are her experiences of being bullied and her failed auditions. She thinks that she's not good enough, being rejected a lot of times. Her being bullied is also one the reasons why she has difficulty with other people. 

 

     Since her parents were not drinkers, Hwana is not as well. She doesn't like the taste nor the smell of alcohol, and prefers to drink coffee or rootbeer [carbonated cola] instead. Even thought her cousins offer her sips just for her to know what the taste is, she refuses. She's tried alcoholic drinks before, and she just doesn't like them. Also, young as her generation is, most people her age like to go to parties and clubs. She doesn't. She thinks that it's a waste of time and that she has other important things to do. This is also a manifestation of her social awkardness.

 

     Her brother calls her a sadist but she doesn't think that she's one. She just finds it funny and likes seeing people she doesn't like in pain or suffering or scared (less). But since her bestfriend Junyoung also calls her one, she accepted being a sadist but she tries to keep it hidden. She doesn't need other poeple calling her a sadist too, it would only make her look bad.

 

     Hwana is very loyal. She keeps her promises, and she's easily attached to people she's close to. She feels really hurt when people betray her and it triggers her insecurity attacks. 'Was I not good enough for me to be betrayed?' always comes to her mind during those times. She's an animal lover, and dogs and cats are her favorites. She gets emotional when she sees any kind or form of animal abuse, be it real or in pictures/videos.

 

     Hwana absolutely loves horror It is what she and her brother do when they have nothings else to do. They would watch horror movies/videos, read horror stories or look up anything creepy. She then found out that Junyoung likes these kinds of stuff too, and it made them closer because they had something to talk about.

     

 

HISTORY: 

 

     Hwana is born to a Korean father and a Filipino mother in the Philippines. With the Philippines following the jus sanguini or by blood citizenship she is half Korean and half Filipino. She stayed in the Philippines until she was 11 years old. She knows how to speak Korean because of her father, Filipino because she lives in the Philippines and English because it is the second language practiced in said country. She also speaks little Spanish because of her mother. She comes from a musically inclined family since her parents, aunts, uncles and cousins play musical instruments and or sing(s) well. She excelled in school; always securing her spot on the top five of her class. But being a half-half, she and her brother often got bullied for being "different". She told herself not to let it get to her though. But she still had her "moments".  

 

     Hwana and her cousins mostly hangout playing instruments and singing, at times she and her brother would rap as well. She once saw her older cousin dancing to a song and she told him immediately that she wanted to learn as well. She became flexible and was doing flips with her cousins when she was about 9 years old. 

 

     When she was about to turn 12, she and her family moved to South Korea because of her dad's work. Two years later though, she lost her parents to an accident when she was turning fourteen years old so it was only her and her older twin brother Jihoon. They received their inherited money from their parents but it wasn't enough for them to continue going to school. Their relatives in the Philippines helped support them by sending them enough money to rent a small apartment and buy necessities. Jihoon had to apply for a scholarship - which was granted - for him to continue with his studies. Ha had to work at the school library as part of the scholarship. The school also pays Jihoon which is then used for Hwana's tuition, along with the money their parents left them. Thinking that their parents' money won't last and that their relatives couldn't support them forever, Hwana decided to look for a job. It wasn't fair that her brother was the only one working to sustain the bothe of them so she wanted to be of help. At the age of fourteen she found a job at a cafe that was willing to hire a minor and that allowed her to be a student-worker. She was to start work after her classes (which end at three in the afternoon) until six in the evening and was to work for eight hours during Saturdays. She was allowed to have days off on Sundays. The cafe pays her well and she and her brother were able to continue school and pay for rent and other stuff needed for school.  

 

     Hwana at school was still the same, still securing her spot on the top five of her class. Hwana and Jihoon had no difficulty fitting in school unlike before that was why their school life in South Korea went on smoothly. She had made a lot of friends but only has one best friend: Lee Junyoung. She had met him when she first transferred to his school at age 11 (her birthday is at the end of the year). 

 

     Hwana then got the idea of being an idol when her best friend Junyoung told her that he was auditioning. She deicded to follow her bestfriend, thinking that if she gets to debut and earn more money,she'd be able to help her brother more. She tried auditioning to a lot of companies when she turned sixteen but failed almost all of them. She was losing hope, especially since Junyoung was accepted by NH Media. As she was about to give up IO Media [one of the companies she decided to audition for, which rejected her as well] sent her a letter telling her to reaudition. Her twin brother supports her decision always wishes her the best. 

 

     Hwana is not professionally trained, she knows that. Her experience just comes from her family. She was able to hone her skills when she performs with them. She did come from a family of musicians after all. Her dancing experience comes from it being another past time of her and her cousins. She tries to experiment with them and she was able to improve. After moving to Korea she didn't stop. She treated dancing as a form of exercise which made her even better. Her rapping then comes from her idol bias-es. Almost all of her favorites are the rappers of the group and so she always makes it apoint to learn their rap parts. Junyoung and Jihoon always say that she gets better every after rap that she accomplishes.

Due to her friendship with Junyoung, Hwana is also close to the other U-Kiss members especially Kevin and Eli. She also became a close dongsaeng to Hakyeon (N) and Taekwoon (Leo) of VIXX when she told them that she was a huge fan. When they first met, they got along immediately and decided to keep contact with each other. She treats and calls Hakyeon and Kevin as her 'moms' while Taekwoon and Eli as her 'dads' because of they ways they treat her.

BRIEF PERSONALITY: 

     He is loyal and smart. He is almost the same as Hwana that is why they became friends almost immediately when they first met. He is shy and quiet at first but when he gets comfortable he's going to open up a bit and laugh along (as observed in After School CLub). He likes singing, dancing and rapping, and horror anything like Hwana. He is honest, and tries his best to adapt to the best solution in a given situation. [There are not much facts to Junyoung as compared to the other members so I also had a hard time with the personality :( Some I observed in ASC and Secret Box, others were assumptions as to when I became a fan]

HISTORY: 

     He was a classmate of Hwana and they became bestfriends. Junyoung was quiet at first and it was Hwana who approached him back when he was twelve years old and she was eleven. The first thing that brought them close was a class project on Edgar Allan Poe's The Cask of Amontillado. While doing the project they started talking about horror stories like William Faulkner's A Rose for Emily and The Talisman by Stephen King And Peter Straub. After the project, she then asked him questions to know him more during lunch and they found out that they had a lot of similarities. That made them friends. They also found out that Hwana's house was on the way to Junyoung's house so they decided that every morning Junyoung would fetch Hwana and they would walk to school together and Junyoung would walk her home in the afternoon. That made them closer. When Junyoung discovered Hwana's job he would still accompany her and would still walk her home, together with Jihoon. [Note: Jihoon's classes start at 9 in the morning so he leaves later than Hwana whose classes start at 7 in the morning. Jihoon's library duties start at 1 in the afternoon and end at four so he either goes home earlier than Hwana or waits and walks with her and Junyoung.]

     During Hwana's days off, she and Junyoung would do song and dace covers - sometimes with Jihoon -. They would always divide the parts fairly, alternating with the rap and vocal parts as they were good in both. The bestfriends would also practice boy group and girl girl group dances - much to Junyoung's dismay and the twins' entertainment -.

     Hwana had unconciously developed a crush on her best friend but was too scared to confess because if she gets rejected she might not be able to save their friendship. Little did she know that that was exactly what Junyoung was thinking as well. Junyoungs was crushing on her as well.

INTERACTIONS: Formal when at work, comfortable outside of work. They are often seen hanging out together after work or on free days.
