appearance » Sunmi stands at an average height of 163 cm and weighs 46 kg. Since she is aiming to become an idol she is slightly under-weight but she isn't to the point of being unhealthy. Sunmi also has very pale skin compared to normal asian girls because she didn't go outside much when she was younger. It was mostly because she played indoor sports, but also because her parents wanted her to study way more than to go out and waste her time. But since she didn't go outside much she had to take vitamin D with supliments that her mom sent to her every month. Also since Sunmi was alone a lot, she grew to have this resting face that comes out when she daydreaming or is just sitting somewhere. It causes problems sometimes, so when she is on camera she is seen trying to smile as much as possible to keep the face away from other peoples eyes.

style » Sunmi is mostly seen in oversized sweaters or shirts that she usually tucks inside either a high waisted skirt/shorts or skinney jeans and leggings. She finds it most comfrotable to wear it that way and helps her self esteem better than form fitting shirts. She knows she doesn't have a large bust. But occasionally you will see her rock a crop top during practice or in the summer when she doesn't have to worry about being judged. But when she is with her members she doesn't really worry much since they've been trainees with each other and are comfortable.

personality » Sunmi has two sides to her really. At times she can be super sweet and kind but other times she is straight up really rude. She grew up an only child and didn't hang out with the people at her school as they had the same goal as her, and that was to study to be number 1. It was hard for her to socialize a lot of the time and that caused her to come out a bit cold and mean when really she is just being sincere and misunderstood. Her parents didn't talk to her much as she grew up because they worked all the time with their full time jobs. Thus making her somewhat awkard with people she meets as she doesn't really talk to people her age much. She is known for her awkardness towards the other members and how she usess honorifics towards them most of the time when they are her age or close to it. It's hard to approach Sunmi at first but once you get to meet her she actually doesn't mean any harm. She just isn't the type who is really out-going. But once she is into something her mind goes somewhere else and she let's out her inner beast. For example in variety shows she would go all out to win or succeed. She has this urge to win everything that her cold personality is thrown out the window. This competiveness is what helps her strive throughtout this competition. She always is looking for number 1 no matter what. Even if it means practicing hours on hours a day. But knowing this is a team effort she doesn't hesitate to help the other members with their lines on the songs or choreography even though she might not be the best dancer. The only thing with SUnmi is that she doesn't mind the practice as her parents were just as strict with her studies when she grew up. Though at some point growing up she found a love of learning things. Be it dance moves or different cultures. Her vast curiousity allowed her a lot of knowledge in life, and in the books. She can absotbs things easier because of this.

But since she hasn't talk to people much she doesn't really realize how sensitive other people can be. She just says what's on her mind without thinking about the other persons feelings. Yet what she says wasn't supposed to come out mean. Really she was just giving her opinion, but most of the time it comes out really rude. Though at times it is really helpful as she can give out her opinion on performances without minding how mean she might sound. It becomes helpful for the rest of the members and they can use those reviews to help themselves. If Sunmi didn't want to be an idol she would be a great Vocal Coach. Sometime Sunmi doesn't even realize she is being rude what so ever and continues to do her thing. can spit out fire at times and her members usually shut with their hands so that she doesn't reveal anything. She is also known to leak out secrets of the memebers or things that the fans or anyone should know, but really she gets careless about it. That gets her introuble with the members and the company but really she means good when she says things like that. Since in Variety she was learned to say things that the fans would find entertaining and fun to know, and some things are meant to be said inside the dorm.

background » Cheon Sunmi was born on May 20, 1997 in a hospital in Incheon, South Korea. Her parents, Cheon Manson and Cheon Seungmi, were both Doctors at the hospital she was born in. Her mother being a Psychologist and her father being a Neuroligist. They both had a dream of their daughter becoming a doctor just like them. Ever since she learned how to talk she was taught how to read at a 1st grader's comprehension. She was always on top of her classes and never struggled. She went to the Chadwick International school since Pre-K and continued going there till 8th grade. At her time there she was taught English as a main language and Korean as a Secondary language. But since she was Full Korean she still knew it fluently no problem, but English is almost really her first language. During her time in Middle school she was a spiker in her Volleyball team. She wasn't that tall but she can jump really high with training. The Volleyball team were the only friends she made during her time at Chadwick but when she left they didn't really keep in touch. Most of the team members either moved or quite for another Extracurricular activity. 

While Sunmi went to Chadwick, her Aunt Seungyeon lived with her and her parents in their apartment. Her parents aren't usually home when Sunmi gets home from school so to look after her, her aunt was her caretaker. Seungyeon was in a band when she was younger and she was the lead guitarist. At her time there Seungyeon shared her love of music with Sunmi eversince Sunmi was 3. When she was 4 her Aunt taught her how to play the guitar and when she grew even more, she started to sing along to the guitar. Since her parents didn't come home till evening they never heard her play or sing. They both thought she was always studying, so Sunmi decided to keep it that way until she graduated to the 8th grade. 

When she officially turned 14 she decided to test how talented she really was. It was time for Sunmi to realize what field she would like to work in and Sunmi deep in her heart wanted to be a Singer but she knew her parents wanted her to be a surgeon or a doctor of some sort like them. So before she had any regrets, Sunmi decided to do an online audition to the top 3 entertainments. SM, YG, and JYP. She sang You are my everything By. Davichi as an accoustic version, then for the dance she did Kisses Down Low by Kelly Rowland  She waited weeks for their reply but in the end she was rejected from all 3 of them. Feeling dejected and bitter about the rejection she told herself that she would do the next three companies that she could think of and that was CUBE, Pledis, and Woolim ent. This time she didn't have high expectations of the results. She actually nearly forgot about it as she was more worried about the mid term exams. That was  when she had an email from Pledis Entertainment. They have sent her an email saying that she was accepted and that she was to meet the CEO for further details on her contract. When Sunmi opened the email, she was in a state of shock and happiness. It may have been one of the times she ever smiled from ear to ear. At the time only her aunt was home and she was the first person to know. Her Aunt supported her 100% and she was ecstatic that she was accepted into an agency. They were cheering in the living room for like a good 10 minutes. But the celebrating was cut short when her parents both walked through the door confused on why they were cheering for. Sunmi was silent but her Aunt was still in a high with the news that she spilled it to her parents. Her parents were way more shocked than she was when she got the news. At first they thought it was a joke, but as the air became more tense they realized that they were actually serious. Her mom looked as if she was going to faint and her father was just stoic. 

It was weeks later when her and her aunt convinced them that Sunmi should follow her dreams first to see where ot led her. Her parents blamed her Aunt for influencing her decisions but when they heard Sunmi sing and play the guitar they thought that maybe she could be a singer. Finally on September 9, 2011 she was officially a trainee at Pledis Entertainment.

personality » Seungkwan is the ultimate joker of the group Seventeen. He is always full of energy and confidence that you can't help but smile when you're around him. He is usually like this because he loves to make people happy. Which can be seen in his performances. That is why when he is with the members he is usually teased for his joyful and sometimes sassy attitude. Also with his overly enthusiastic personality, Seungkwan has this very emotional side to him that shows up almost everywhere. He easily is tear jerken and can't help but show every emotion he expresses straight from 0-100. But because he is one of the maknaes he is someone people would want to take care of. He is like the equivalent to a child, but carries maturity when on stage or on camera. 

How they met » Sunmi was in the practice room really late one night and she didn't think anyone was still inside the halls, but she was wrong. It was around 3 am when a rain storm hit the area. Lightning and thunder began to roar through the city. That was when Sunmi let out a HUGE scream that could have been heard around the whole floor. She curled in the corner of the practice room and stayed in that postition for a few minutes when Seungkwan ran to the room panting, as he was running. He was practicing in the rooms around hers and when he heard her scream he reacted quickly and came to the source. Sunmi at the time was a trainee for 1 year so far, and Seungkwan was a newbie who arrived a few months before. He saw her curled up in a ball but she didn't notice him as she shut her eyes tight and blocked her ears with her hands. Slowly Seungkwan walked towards her and sat next to her. He placed his jacket on her and it made her flinch at the touch. She was in tears at the time but Seungkwan without hesitation placed her head on his shoulder. She clung on her shirt and sobbed, while shaking in fear, but Seungkwan just carressed her hair and told her that everything was going to be alright. It calmed her down after what seemed to be an hour. The thunder and lightning stopped so she was calm and was fine. Sunmi got up and apologized but Seungkwan said it was no problem at all. She said what she could do in return for crying on his shoulder for and hour. And all he said was "Smile more often." 

interactions » After that, Seungkwan is seen with Sunmi most of the time if he wasn't with the trainee boys. Sunmi considers Seungkwan to be her only friend but she was very awkward in the beginning. The next day after the incident Sunmi tried to avoid him as much as possible, but everywhere she turned Seungkwan was there. Then after like a week of trying to avoiding him, she gave up when it seemed it wouldn't work. Seungkwan then asked for her number and such. Then ever since Seungkwan and Sunmi were seen each other a lot. But Sunmi still uses honorifics even though they've known each other for 3 years now. Seungkwang either calls her "Noona, or Suna" Which is compiled of her name Sunmi+Noona = Suna. They text each other almost everyday but since he debut they usually just call since it's easier for the both of them when they are free or text each other when free.

Seungkwan started to like Sunmi after 2 years of knowing her and Sunmi is still oblivious of what feelings he might have for her. Right now it is a one-sided love, but Sunmi has been starting to feel weird around Seungkwan.
