How do you feel about people bashing fanfic writing??

I am kind of late with this lol but I just remembered that scandal when fans thought Chanyeol might read fanfics and begged him not to

At that time there were many bashful comments about fanfic writers. Being one myself, I was of course annoyed by that.

It's not like we are doing anything that could affect or hurt our biases; we are basically just using them as templates for characters in our stories. And that's bad. But drawing your bias is great and people appriciate it. That .

We are artists too.

If any of us get as far as publishing a book, we of course couldn't use their names, but as freebees we can do whatever we want, as long as we are not harming anyone.

There. I just felt like ranting about it xD

Yeah, I remember hearing that too, and was like...?? I hate that people look down on us fan fic writers. I've got a couple of friends who I've been writing/reading with for over 10 years now (Backstreet and N'Sync fan fiction way back in the day lol) , one of them actually got a book deal and has just finished her 3rd published book and is already slated to start a new series. The other friend is even more awesome for 2 reasons. English is not her first language, and she'd started writing fan fics to improve her English skills which lead to her landing an awesome job and last I'd talked to her, she'd gotten a preliminary deal for a book too.

I've found a good way to shut up those who hate fan fic writers. I usually ask them if they like 50 Shades of Grey (and if any of y'all like it, I'm sorry in advance). The ones who say they do...remind them that it originally started out as a Twilight fan fic.....usually shuts them up right away.

People get afraid that their idols will be offended by some of the fics written about them... but this is basically free promotion for those idols. Some idols even fuel fan-ships purposefully (cough* markson *cough) which they ARE aware will be written up into "those kinds" fics. It's common knowledge, for example in the drama You're beautiful there is an actual scene where the idol Jeremy (played by Hongki) logs in online and starts excitedly reading an update for his own groups fanfic, picking up at a spot where two members are kissing. So I think some people just need to chill.

Totally with you on this. But surprisingly, based on my blog, most writers (amateur & professional alike) seem to be okay with fanfic writing. In fact, they seem to encourage it amongst young people. Oh wells, we fanfic writers are kinda like the director & producer of our own scripted drama...so sometimes we have to deal with some insane audiences & even actors of our own shows. =P
Keep your chin up! ^^
