The Perfect Boy Group and Girl Group Leaders

Seoulbeats recently held a poll on who's the perfect girl group and boy group leaders. And even though  I wasn't able to vote, because the poll was already closed when I found it out, I am very happy with the results.

I believe the winners truly deserve such titles.

And the winners were:

G DRAGON of Big Bang & SUNYE of the Wonder Girls.

Why do I think they both deserve it?  Being a leader doesn't mean you have to be the person in the middle or the oldest one. Being a leader requires more than that. You have to be well rounded, and acquire a heart to lead. To lead through giving respect and not bossing around and in turn gains respect not only from her groupmates but from other artists as well. To be just contented to stay in the background and let the other members shine is a great leader but when things get rough, they will step up and handle everything. That’s a true leader there.  A leader thinks of what's the best for the group. What makes a group successful isn't wholly their music, it's who they are when the music isn't playing. Those are what makes up genuine artists and both Kwon Jiyong and Min Sunye have it all.

These two have been through a lot. I remember one time when I read somewhere that Big Bang had many thoughts of disbanding and then Sunye revealed that she wanted to die during her trainee days and in one show too, she apologized to her groupmates for thinking that she's doing a bad job in her role.

As a leader, your group's disbandment or thoughts of disbandment would lead you to doubt your capacity in leadership and what were the things you were deficient to do to make it all work out smoothly. But G dragon didn't give up and continued making music for his team. Sunye on the other hand, didn't resigned to her thoughts of death but instead strived harder to achieve her dreams. Saving Sunmi during a car accident, taking care of Sohee when she was sick at 2007 GDA, sharing her medicine with Taeyeon of snsd during their "Buttons" performanc-though they aren't in the same group, stepping up when netizens say something about WG,being honest to her fans, exchanging Sohee's dysfunctional chair with hers so she gets to use that chair and Sohee gets to use the functional one, and I could go on all day saying more things about her. Is she doing a bad job in this case? No I don't think so.  Just naming a few of her sincere deeds, I think she's doing an excellent job as a leader.

Do you know what these two have in common? It's the fact that despite all the odds, and inspite of all the bullsh!t they had to go through to be where they are right now, they never gave up. Gdragon and Sunye work harder everyday as the leaders of their respective groups because giving up was never an option. I believe in their humanity and in their capabilities.

Surely, they are very much talented and were born to perform to begin with, but their extra efforts play a bigger role in their success right now.

Such powerful and respected leaders deserve the crowns.

:)
