love takes two

Their marriage is a happy but loveless one; such are the consequences of a unity forged under family needs and societal pressures. They see each other first thing in the morning everyday and eat together, but are not family. They don't hate each other, but they don't love each other. They carry on with their individual lives, building walls along the way. What happens when those walls get knocked down, accidentally or intentionally?

appearance — Lee Ga Young is your average Korean female. Standing at 161 cm with natural light brown hair that falls down in waves to her chest and dark brown eyes, she is a little on the small side. Ga Young has bangs that end at her eyebrows and curl in towards her. She weighs about 47kg, and has a few birthmarks. They don't stand out very much; they are located on her left inner thigh, on her right ankle, and on the tip of her right ear. She has one tattoo, a small heart on her right collarbone. All in all, she is quite cute.

fashion style — Ga Young usually wears very casual clothing when she goes out. Her outfits mostly consist of oversized sweaters and lots of accessories (+++++++) to spice things up. When it's a special day (birthdays, holidays, dates), or a day where she needs to feel pretty (this usually occurs after a really bad day), she'll tend to switch to dresses and skirts. She prefers pastel and bright colors, but when formal occasions arise, she likes to wear darker clothes (++++). When she's at home, she stays in her pajamas, which usually consist of an oversized t-shirt and comfortable sleeping shorts.

character traits — Impatient, Short-Tempered, Funny, Loud, Optimistic, Bubbly, Cute, Confident, Friendly, Sarcastic, Childish

personality

Ga Young is a very confident person, as anyone who knew her could tell you. She's always at the center of the group, cracking jokes (most of them consist of playful teasing and half-hearted insults) and laughing along with everyone else. Forget about the party, she is the party. She cherishes her friends, and often puts them before herself, which gets her into a lot of sticky situations. She can never sit quite still enough, fidgeting in her chair, playing with her fingers, her shirt, her zippers, anything she can get a hold of. If she's not sitting, she's moving. Always moving.

The really funny thing about Ga Young is her confidence. Around people she's unfamiliar with, she's confident enough to go up to them and say hi, start a conversation, and make friends. She's very adaptive. However, when faced with friends of friends, people she doesn't know that know the people she knows, she panics. Ga Young can't quite adjust to people like that; people who joke around with her friends, often leaving her out. As much as she loves to say that she loves people, these are the kinds of people she can never deal with, and they seem to be everywhere.

Another funny thing about Ga Young is the way she usually approaches strangers and interacts with them. Most people are very shy when they first meet someone, and the conversations they share are usually very short. Ga Young, on the other hand, greets people excitedly, shouting a loud hello and waving her hands frantically. She gets comfortable with people very quickly, and is very affectionate. She's always invading someone's personal space, whether it's resting her head on someone's shoulder, linking arms with someone, or simply sitting closer to someone than normal people do. Many people misunderstand when she does this, especially since most of her friends are guys, but it's her way of showing affection.

It's not very often that you'll find a sad Ga Young. Most of the time, she's very peppy and energetic, dragging people all over the place and bouncing on her toes when told to stand still. When you do find a sad Ga Young, you know something is very wrong. It's difficult to make her sad; only very serious things, like the loss of a loved one, the betrayal of a friend, or heartbreak can get her to cry. One of her charms is that she makes people fall for her very quickly, whether it's love or friendship, and when someone hurts her, you can bet that every single person she knows will side with her against whoever made her cry. She's a very lovable person and a scary force to mess with.

family background

Ga Young has a family of five. Her immediate family consists of her mother (Song Ha), her father (Woo Min), her older sister (Ga Yu), and her younger brother (Ga Ho). Her family is originally from New York. They moved to Seoul when Ga Young was eleven, because her parents wanted to return to the motherland. It was extremely difficult for the siblings to adjust at first, but Ga Young treated it like an adventure. Despite the common cliche of the family braving a new world and growing closer, the trip to Korea seemed to have the opposite effect on her family. Her parents grew even more distant than they were when they lived in America. Her parents seemed to always be busy, never having time to grow closer with their kids. Ga Yu ended up having to do most of the chores by herself for the longest time, since she was older. Her love of writing stemmed from the bunches of letters she would write to her friends in America. Her house in America had three stories and they were occupied by different relatives, including her cousin (Kang Bo Ha). When the Lees moved to Seoul, so did the entire household. Ga Young often talks fondly about her house in New York, as she grew up in it. She doesn't really like the house her family currently lives in, as it's only big enough for her family and none of the extended family can live with them.

life-style

Ga Young is currently a student who lives with her family. She goes to Seoul National University, and works a part-time job at the local cafe (not Starbucks, an actual cafe with the mismatched chairs, homemade pastries, excellent coffee and slow jazz music), serving as a waitress. She pays for her tuition using her hard-earned money (her job pays surprisingly well for a waitress) and her parent's money. She's not rich, but she's not poor. She's a bit in the upper middle class. At college, she's majoring in English, as she loves to write. She knows English and can speak it fluently (with no accent).

Ga Young's friends mostly consist of guys, but she has a few girl friends. Most of the other girls in her college are very stuck up and bratty, or they are simply boring. The guys, at least, are more dynamic. She tends to avoid talking to the other girls, since they don't like her, and she pretends to not hear the insults when they're thrown at her (They don't affect her much anyway. She only cares about the opinions of the people she loves.).

trivias — Ga Young has claustrophobia, and she's deathly afraid of heights. Weird thing is, she loves roller coasters and has no problem riding them. She likes lots of things, and also dislikes a lot of things. She hates mushrooms with a passion but really loves fruits. She likes helping people and donating to charity. She's a major bookworm, a gamer and a huge nerd, but that's a secret, so don't tell. She really hates mean people. She won't say anything to them, but they annoy her to no ends and she cannot stand them whatsoever. She hates spicy foods.

family members

» Mother — Lee Song Ha : 42 : pediatrician : introverted; impatient; moody; easily irritable; cold : Ga Young doesn't talk to her mother very much. The reason is that her mother is often angry or annoyed with her when they do speak. She's deathly afraid of her parents when they're angry, and regards her love for them as more of an obligation than real love. Once in a while, Ga Young and her mother have very different views on topics, like marriage. Ga Young wants to marry out of love, but her mother thinks that's stupid, stating that her marriage was arranged and was perfectly fine. Ga Young disagrees. Her parent's marriage is loveless. She and her husband often make inappropriate or insulting remarks towards their children when they don't cooperate with them.

» Father — Lee Woo Min : 42 : pediatrician : intimidating; short-tempered; busy; demanding; obnoxious : Ga Young's father is not very present in her life and never has been. While he has the same occupation as his wife, he seems to be a lot busier with work. So busy, in fact, that he only goes home to see his children once in a while. All in all, Ga young doesn't really know much about her father, and they only make small talk when they do meet. Her father isn't as cold as her mother, but is very strict when it comes to marriage, and sides with his wife. Most of the time when he gets home from work, he's so tired he makes it a point to ignore Ga Young and his other children, walking straight to the bedroom to sleep instead.

» Sister — Lee Ga Yu : 23 : student at Seoul National University : introverted; kind; extremely smart; brave : Ga Young and her sister aren't very close, but they do stick up for each other, hence the "brave" attribute. When her parents tried to force her into a marriage a few years ago, Ga Young stood up for her and got her out of it, and now she's trying to do the same for her littler sister, although it didn't work out very well. She's very shy and doesn't like loud people, and tries to stay home most of the time, while Ga Young likes to go out a lot. Ga Yu likes to pick on Ga Young sometimes for fun and for laughs. She majors in Environmental Studies/ Environemtnal Engineering.

» Brother — Lee Ga Ho : 16 : student at Seoul High School : loud; mischievous; bubbly; nerdy; energetic : Ga Young and her brother are really close to each other, and they're very similar to each other in terms of personality. They both agree that the arranged marriage Ga Young is supposed to have is not something to celebrate about, and Ga Ho does his best to stand up for his sister. He's a people person, and quite good at mixing and blending into the crowd. He makes friends really easily, and loves to go outside to play sports. He is a black belt in Taekwondo and isn't afraid to use his kicks and punches to defend his loved ones. They tease each other a lot.

» Cousin — Kang Bo Ha : 20 : student at Korea National University of Arts : loud; bubbly; creative; talkative; generous : Where as Ga Young is very nerdy, Bo Ha is very artsy, always drawing and sketching and doodling on small scraps of paper that she carries around with her pens, pencils, and paintbrushes. She's not very nerdy, but loves to talk to Ga Young about books and manga and anime anyway. They love each other dearly, and regard themselves as best friends. Ga Young and Bo Ha tell each other everything and run to each other when they need advice. So when Bo Ha found out about the marriage, she was furious with Ga Young's parents, and tried to stand up for her as well. She majors in Architecture.

friends and colleagues

» Close Friend — Jang Mari : 21 : student at Seoul National University : studious; serious; kind; gorgeous; nerdy : Mari and Ga Young are very close, and they love to talk about lots of things. Although their personalities are completely different, they have a lot in common in terms of likes and dislikes. They're both very nerdy and often talk about their crushes to each other. They mostly bonded in their shared class, on the Literature of Middle Ages Europe. They're very defensive of each other, even to their mutual friends. They know what it's like to be backstabbed and would hate to see the other going through that all over again. She is a Teaching major, specifically Elementary Education.

» Friend — Kim Cha On : 20 : student at Seoul National University : motherly; patient; quiet; kind; loving : He isn't a very loud or outstanding person, and he's only met Ga Young outside once or twice throughout their entire college experience thus far and they don't know much about each other, but he's very dear to Ga Young. She never had a real mother, so Cha On is her replacement. He's always nagging at her to do something or other, or offering his advice and views even when she doesn't ask for them. He brings her lunch and eats with her everyday, along with Mari and their other mutual friends. He majors in Child Development.

other relationships

» Ex-Boyfriend — Kim Jongin : 20 : dancer : persuasive; charming; kind; persistent; arrogant : When Jongin and Ga Young were both still in high school, they fell in love. At that time, Jongin was also a dancer, and he was starting to gather some popularity. Although they said they loved each other, Jongin didn't show it, as he went on dates with other girls and cheated on Ga Young. Heartbroken and upset, Ga Young decided to quit while she was ahead and broke up with Jongin. It took a while, but now he's back and he loves Ga Young more than ever. When he hears about the marriage, he becomes furious and declares Ga Young's husband as his rival, fighting against the marriage, even when it's already official.

husband — Park Chanyeol : 21 : student at Seoul national University; heir to the family company : arrogant; handsome; selfish; easily irritable; lonely; smiley; bright; funny; childish

personality

Although Park Chanyeol is a genuinely great guy: funny, smart, and extremely happy, he is incredibly lonely and sometimes tries to hide it behind his arrogance. He loves to joke around with people, and laugh with everyone else, but he's very cocky and condescending sometimes. He looks down on people who he deems inadequate and picks on them, often making that person the of his jokes. He doesn't mean any harm, but he doesn't know how to express his feelings properly, so they often come out all twisted and wrong. He's extremely childish, and it's even shown in the way he shows his affection, the cliche "boy picks on girl because he likes her" situation. When he's not laughing harmlessly, he's attacking someone with his jokes. He takes his frustration out on other people and upsets them when he's annoyed. He's a happy person and everyone loves him, but he's a bit lacking in his expressions. He's also a bit spoiled, as he's quite rich, and he often takes things for granted. He lives by himself, because he claims that roommates and flatmates are too messy.

relationship prior to the marriage

The two heads of the families were introduced to each other through a mutual friend, and the two families started arranging a marriage for their kids. The entire arrangement took place within a period of five months. After all the discussions on what would be shared through the marriage and what would be kept private, they agreed to let Chanyeol and Ga Young meet. They didn't really meet in the best circumstances. They first met during one of their marriage meetings, where they were introduced and left to talk to each other. Channel didn't understand why he was marrying a middle class woman instead of someone rich, so he voiced this concern by rudely asking Ga Young if she was trying to leech off his money, to which she glared at him and replied sarcastically, "Yes, of course, that's exactly what I want. Your money. Because I don't have enough myself." Chanyeol considered her to be an "inadequate person" because of her status. After that, they met a few more times, making small talk and occasionally cracking jokes. Whenever Chanyeol got frustrated during the meetings, he would make a nasty comment about her appearance. Ga Young usually shrugged these insults off, but sometimes they would hurt her, like when she spent a long time on her hair and he called it a rat's nest. They didn't really like each other, but they didn't hate each other either. It was more of a mild dislike. They both were opposed to the marriage, and were forced into it by their parents, something about honor and how a child should uphold it by marrying someone well-off when they were young to have kids and continue the tradition. Also, it had felt rushed to the both of them, and they felt it was unfair that they only got to meet a total of 3 times before they were walking down the aisle together. They have no children, but have talked about it before, deciding to wait a little longer.

relationship after the marriage

Chanyeol and Ga Young do sleep in the same bed, and they share a house, but they do not love each other. They barely acknowledge each other's existences and carry on with their daily lives as per usual. Of course they have their moments of friendship, but for the most part, they don't talk much. Things start to get messy, however, when Chanyeol starts falling for Ga Young. It happens slowly, he'll find something about her cute, or he notices how nice her laugh sounds, or he discovers that she's really great at cooking and watches her when she cooks, sometimes stealing food, to which Ga Young scolds him and slaps him hand away. When he starts developing a crush on her, Ga Young still regards him as an acquaintance/ friend. This frustrates Chanyeol, and he starts straying away from the house more often, staying out all night only to leave really early the next morning. Ga Young starts getting worried over Chanyeol, and they have their first big fight. When they fight, they yell loudly. It's all spit and harsh words flung at each other, wild gestures and heated glares. The fights usually start with slightly insulting comments and probing questions, until one of them becomes furious enough at the other to yell. They last for a few days, going from yelling to ignoring and then, eventually, to resolution and compromise. Neither husband or wife regrets marrying each other in the beginning, but as they go through love (and possible heartbreak), they might be confused and wonder if they had made the right choice in agreeing to marry this person.

trivias —

» At the beginning of their marriage, Chanyeol lays down some "ground rules" (for example, meeting other people is not allowed and to not bother him in his home office because he's usually busy)
» When Ga Young starts getting closer to Chanyeol, she calls him multiple variations of his name (Yeol, Yeollie, Channie, Chan), and also giant.
» When Chanyeol and Ga Young start to get closer, he calls her yeobo, jagiya, or a just Young-ah.

» Ga Young gets a lot of pressure from school (bullies, schoolwork), her job, her love life, and her parents (keep telling her to have a child). This causes her to be slightly on edge after her marriage.

ending — To be completely honest, I just want them to end up together and be happy at the end of the story. I don't want Jongin to just fade out in depression though, I wish that he could find someone and everybody could be friends in the end.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

scene requests

» I think the only real request I have would be a few comedic scenes here or there, accompanied by fluff and some school angst. I mean, you don't have to go crazy, but like maybe they cook dinner together and they have a mini food fight and end up making fun of each other. Just some friendly bickering and teasing. And she could run into people at school who are mean to her and Chanyeol defends her or something like that.
» Please, please, please, can you make it so that Chanyeol's jaw drop during the wedding ceremony because Ga Young is just too beautiful, and then have Sehun or someone, one of his friends, close his mouth for him? I would love it.

» I don't mind rated scenes and you can add them as you wish, but I would prefer them to not really go past making out too much. I feel like the whole idea is that the marriage is rushed and that they aren't familiar with each other, so seems kind of... off?
» Can you do a scene where Ga Young gets extremely overwhelmed by all the pressures she has to face?

comments/questions

» I forgot to put this in, and I'm not very good with HTML. Can you possibly make it so that Mari and Cha On are, at first, opposed to Chanyeol? Not strong opposition or anything extreme, but just you know, slight disapproval.
» So like, I wanted to summarize the plot really quickly, because I'm really afraid that I explained something wrong in the above. There's the whole backstory thing with how neither of them wants to get married to the other and their individual childhoods, and then there's the first meeting, where Chanyeol's really rude. So the families had the entire wedding and all that serious stuff planned within five months, and arranged meetings during that time, as well. Everything about the marriage seems rushed and forced. So after they get married, they kind of just ignore each other, because of Chanyeol's rules about keeping to themselves. Over time, he starts noticing things about Ga Young and starts avoiding her out of frustration. They fight or something and Chanyeol promises to be friendlier and they start talking more. Ga Young is fine with it, but she has no feelings for him at first. Then she starts noticing things, little by little. But then, Jongin comes back and he throws a wrench into the whole thing. He chases after Ga Young like crazy, which upsets Chanyeol and starts a rivalry. She gets annoyed by Jongin and starts secluding herself or something. Eventually, she tells Jongin to stop and he does and he's heartbroken at first, but he finds someone else. She and Chanyeol have their happy ending. Something like that. It would be nice if you could include everything, but you don't have to. I just want it to be something like this.

why should i choose Lee Ga Young?
» You should choose her because I'm really not good at writing fics, and I want to have two characters fall in love, and where I can change their fates as I please, and then consequently die of fangirling and squealing too much. Thank you for reading my application! I hope it's not too late!
