Q&A

Q: teatime13
Hi Loviet, thank you again for doing this Q&A I was just wondering if you'd be able to post the characters page again because I really like the wolf that represents Mark♡ if not would you be able to send the pictures to me. I never had any interest in wolves but this story LITERALLY MADE ME ADORE WOLVES. also I've always had this question in mind; do you have the whole plot, beginning and end on your mind already before you proceed writing? because everything in the story happens logically.!! I JUST LOVEEEE THISSTOORRYYY Ps. I'm not sure how to personal message you so I'll just post it here privately. I'll try to personal message you again if I figured how to

A: I actually deleted the page bc I found it unnecessary. I wish I could send you Mark's wolf, but I don't have the picture anymore.

Onto your question.

For this story, I had a very frail structure before I started writing. I started the first chapter with one thing in mind: Jackson was going to be a and the girl was going to be badass.

Everything else sort of grew as I went on.

I tend to add more details or plot ideas while I already started writing. For example, I first thought about giving Areum a curse, but as I wrote, it morphed into a prophecy. I didn't plan on Yang and Yoomi being her friends  either. Winner wasn't going to be in the story and when they first made the appearance as a group of boys who picked on Areum in library I wrote it thinking that the boys were just going to be random, human guys that Jackson defends Areum from. They were supposed to only appear in that one chapter and that would be the last time we'd see from them, but as I wrote their interaction, I decided to make them the antagonists and use Winner.

The prophecy, the solution, Areum's parents were all decided a few days before I wrote about it.  A lot of it I had to come up with AFTERWARDS. For example, when Mason realized that the prophecy was broken, I didn't even consider Areum to be the solution or that there were any loopholes. I made it up as I went along. I wasn't even planning on writing about Areum's parents. I wanted to say "they're gone" and that would be the end of that, but they ended up being a vital part.

Mark and Ara weren't even supposed to effect anything, hell, they weren't even supposed to get together. It was a last minute thing. I decided to use their mating as a point of conflict AFTER I paired them up. Basically everything that came after Mark and Ara's mating was made up along the way. I guess I was really lucky because I wrote a lot of careless details in the beginning of the story that I could link to the later part (i.e the only human-mate couple died bc of rejection) these aspects weren't important at the time that I wrote them and I had no intentions of connecting back to them later, I just moulded my plot to fit around these details that I already wrote.

Honestly, this story was more of an 'on the fly' sort of thing. My other fics usually have more detailed rough notes. However when I update daily, I usually have a short outline like this:

Chp 48:  Countdown to last week of Jackson's life//Emotional moment on a hill//talk with youngjae//final goodbyes

Chp 49: Areum sneaks to panther's house//finds out about links//Mason comes in etc…

It helps get me organized, esp near the end of a story when everything really kicks off.

But it really depends. For my story Armed and Dangerous, I have 21 pages of notes. It's all varies for me. I'm probably the least consistent person you can find

Thank you for your question : ) Lots of love from me to you <3

My questions are how long have you been writing and tips and advice on writing fanfic? All of your stories are so beautifully written.

A: Thank you for the wonderful compliment <3

I've been writing on AFF, a little under a year now, I wrote one short story for my own use (it's long vanished in some CPU of a broken PC) when I was in the 8th grade (so a REALLY long time ago) and I wrote a short story for my 8th grade english class but that's about how much I write. That being said, I'm an avid theatre student all through highschool, so that played a large role in the way I view almost everything I see in any art or media form immediately translates in my head into a movie. That's why some ppl say my writing is like watching a movie; when I write it, I write it like it's a movie playing in head. When I watch an MV (more recently BTS's I Need U) I will always turn it into a full length movie in my head. When I read a fanfic or a regular novel, I imagine how it'd be acted out if it was a movie. It's a weird way my mind works.

Tips, wow, this is a big one.

First and foremost, WRITE SOMETHING YOU ACTUALLY ENJOY. If you don't like wolf fics, then don't force yourself to write one for popularity. However, if you enjoy writing wolf fics, even if ppl think they're cliché, DO IT. If you don't like what you're writing, you will not feel motivated or complete it.

Second, have a pretty good outline of what's going on. Everyone organizes themselves differently, but in my POV, if you don't have a beginning, conflict and relative solution planned out, you might not feel motivated to complete it either. If you're writing without a real direction, then you'll be writing in circles and you won't know what to do with your work. Even if you have an amazing idea, make sure you have a direction to take the story. Say you have the idea of a girl meeting a dragon (who is really a human) and will train him and have it be a funny relationship. That's a great idea, but then what? Is there a villain? Are there allies? Are there obstacles or silly scenarios when the two are training? Is there a huge battle? If so, what's it about? If you don't consider these things as some point in the beginning of your writing or story, then you might find it difficult to motivate yourself or continue your plot. When you're excited about what you have in store, the readers will feel that same anticipation and it will make you want to write more. That being said, everyone functions differently, these are just things that I consider, some people organize themselves in different ways.

Thirdly, look for inspiration everywhere. At the airport picking up some family? What would your characters do if they had to drive to the airport and pick up a friend? Doing groceries? How would your characters bicker over what to buy? Inspiration is everywhere. Go for a walk, take a drive, take the subway for no reason, you'll see some interesting people or have interesting thoughts that can turn your story and plot into something so much more interesting. Plagiarism is a fickle thing, so be careful when you look at other media, BUT it is very important to expose yourself to different movies, films and writing. When you block yourself off to just your own work, then you'll limit your creativity. I go to art gallaries, watch films english, french, korean, german and spanish, watch MVs, short films, indie films, read novels, read ffs and listen to a range of music. This helps me see the world and art on a scale way bigger than myself and what I'm capable of and it helps me expand and experiment with my own skills. Right now my biggest inspiration is Tablo and it's been like that for a while now.

Fourthly, have fun. I wrote Home (my first fic) just to kill time over the summer. It wasn't serious and it was something I wrote just based off my knowledge on how ppl write fanfics here on AFF. Soon, I got more invested and had more fun writing. I didn't expect anyone to look at my work and honestly, at the time I didn't know the importance of upvotes and subscribers bc I had only been active on the site 1 year prior. I barely knew what upvoting was. All I did was focus on my story and updating. I updated constantly, first every other day and then every day. People would see my story being constantly updated and would click it just to see what it was about. So always stay at it and don't give up. Have fun with it and once you stop having fun, maybe it's time to give it up.

Finally, it's okay to use cliché tropes like wolves, gangs, etc. But always have fun trying to make it new and fresh. Think of real life ppl and then think of archetypes like the mean girl, the girl next door, the heart throb or the bad boy and see how you can make them more 2D. Real people are layered. A girl who is classified as a '' is way more than that. People act differently in front of friends, enemies, family and alone. Keep that in mind. A bad boy can be good and good boy can be bad. What makes good characters is when you make characters with outrageous personalities and lifestyles STILL seem human, realistic and relatable. So every now and then think to yourself "What would I do if I met a guy (who isn't already a famous idol) turned out to be a wolf?"  Keep in mind that no one is perfect and people are flawed. Sometimes these flaws make someone vulnerable but sometimes they make them a piece of . Either way, even the main character can sometimes do something unlikable or -y and it's okay as long as there is a reason behind it. Think about all the times that you've acted out or been rude. No one's perfect.

You might run into negativity, either directed at you or see ppl take things WAAYYYY too seriously on AFFC, but don't take it seriously. It's a fun thing to do and the second you complain about little things, it won't be fun anymore, so try your best to keep a positive outlook.

Okay, that was long. If you have any more questions about writing, feel free to message me J

Thank you for the lovely question and I hope I offered some insight into my process and some help for yours : )

Hey. Just wanna ask that is there gonna be a spin off? Hehe. Can you post the link at The Only One fanfic? Hehe.

A: No there will not be a spin off or a sequel. TOO is done and I want to move on to other things and other stories. I actually struggled a bit writing the supernatural genre so I don't think I'll be doing it again. It was fun trying it for the first time, but I think that genre is finished for me.

Thank you for the question <333

Question for TOO. Who was actually the one that slept with Areum the night Jackson escaped from the council?

A: Lol. I thought I made that clear in the story. It was Mino. How else would he have the ring?

Thank you for sending in a question : )
