South Korea is literally one of the most influencial countries. From their fashion, movies, TV dramas and especially music, they're continuously taking over the hearts of many people around the world. K-Pop is what stands out the most whenever we hear 'Korea'. We've known a lot of K-Pop groups and bands, and this K-Pop craze will surely not going to end. But because of the dominant influence of K-Pop and pop music itself, we are likely to not notice some singers who are definitely good and we might be missing. I'm not saying that they're not famous, but I can say that some fans are just too focused on the Korean music they've known as K-Pop, although some of the singers listed below are still into the pop genre. The list below consists of some singers I listen to, a lot. And maybe, introducing them to you might add you to the club! Haha! Though, I'm not sure if you've heard of them before, but in case, to let you remind of them again XD The songs mentioned below on each description are links, so you can directly listen to them!
Younha|윤하
Real Name: Go Youn Ha|고윤하 Date of Birth: April 29, 1988 Years active: 2004–present Label: wealive
She's a rock music songwriter who first got her start in Japan, and continues to have success today also in South Korea. She made her debut as an artist at the young age of sixteen. Nicknamed the "Oricon comet" for her success in Japan, she has released eight singles and two albums there with varying degrees of success. Several of her songs have been featured in anime and drama series. Her 'Houkiboshi' song was featured in an anime called "Bleach".
A/N: She's not just into rock. If you hear her ballad songs, you'll just gasp in awe as soon as you hear her belt high notes. Her voice is cold and soothing. She sings smoothly and asdfghjkl she's just sooooo good. Try listening to her, it's worth it. Another fact about her: She has auditioned for so many times in different entertainment companies but she failed because they say she doesn't look good enough. T.T Are they blind? Look at her, isn't she pretty? SHE IS, RIGHT???? Yet, beauty isn't really necessary but yeah, it's Korea. Korea has a really high standards on appearances when it comes to choosing people to debut. BUT IT'S HER VOICE THAT MATTERS THE MOST ♥ You'll love her~
Davichi|다바차

Davichi is a pop-ballad duo that consists of Lee Haeri (이해리) and Kang Minkyung (강민경). Davichi was derived from the word "Dabichi" which means the light to shine over the world, illustrating their voices to be spread over the world, explained by Lee Haeri during one of the episodes of Pops In Seoul.
A/N: They both sing sooooo good! They sing very emotional and their songs will make you think of memories related to the songs. How they sing is like they're telling you how the lyrics might sound like, how happy or how sad it is. They have also participated in various OSTs of many TV series! You guys should check them out! This duo is amazing and I wonder why they don't have a large fanbase in my country. :(( I can see BoA from Haeri, but I'm not saying they look alike. :DDD

She's a singer-songwriter and actress mostly active in Japan since 2007 and South Korea since 2014 under the labels of SM Entertainment and EMI Records (and formerly with Avex Group). She can speak three languages: her native Korean, Japanese, and English. She's also into rock genre. Her song "Stand Up" is an OST for TV series 'To The Beautiful You' and "Hoo" for TV series Miss Korea
A/N: Powerful voice. I'm wishing SMTown should send her more into spotlight! She deserves it! She's really good and you can't be an SMTOWN stan without knowing her ^^ Anyway, the first time I saw Red Velvet's Wendy, I thought they looked the same XD
Sung Si Kyung|성시경

Sung Si Kyung is well known balladeer for his soft voice and gentle image. Sung's undergraduate education (Bachelor of Arts in Sociology) took place at the Korea University, after which he received Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the same university. He also appeared in a number of TV shows including Korean dramas (soap operas) and entertainment shows, gaining favorable response from the public. Sung enlisted in the Republic of Korea Army in 2008 and was honorably discharged in 2010. Sung's first comeback concert after the discharge attracted more than 6,000 fans from all over the country. He has also participated in many drama OSTs such as 'You Are My Spring' for Secret Garden, 'Every Moment of You' for My Love From the Stars, 'To You' for Reply 1994 and many more. Recently, he's a guest in Running Man and a member of the panel in JTBC's Dating Alone (where EXO Chanyeol is the virtual boyfriend). He is also one the MCs along with 2NE1's Dara and Super Junior's Heechul on the 2013 SBS Gayo Daejeon.
A/N: Idk what to sayyyyy but he's my FAVORITE soloist everrrr! He may not have a large fanbase, especially in my country but listening to him is worth it!!!! You gotta listen to him. I'm sure you'll fall asleep ^^ Haha!
Shannon|샤넌
Shannon Williams|샤넌 아름 윌리엄스 Date of Birth: May 26, 1998 Years active: 2011--present Label: MBK Entertainment
A British-Korean artist active in South Korea. She is under DAP Sound, a division of MBK Entertainment. Her father, Chris Williams Lees, is Welsh and her mother, Kim Jung Mi is a Korean. Her Korean name is Areum. Shannon is also kown as 'Shannon Pix' which is the name caused by misinterpretation during her appearance on SBS's Star King. She has two twin brothers from her father's previous relationship, Christian Lees and Jonah Lees who are both active as actors and musicians.
In 2013, Shannon was recruited as a new member of F-ve Dolls. However, in July 2013, before returning to F-ve Dolls, Shannon was withdrawn. The reason is that she wanted to be like her role model BoA. Following comments, her agency, CCM(Core Contents Media), launched a plan to debut her as a solo artist that would take about 1–2 years of training. On November 23, 2013, Shannon appeared on an IU episode of JTBC's Hidden Singer 2, and she was able to enter the final round.
She debuted as a solo artist on December 1, 2014 with her single 'Daybreak Rain' and she recently produced her first mini album EIGHTEEN with lead song 'Why Why'. From this release, her stage name is Shannon Williams.
A/N: Since she just debuted as a solo, you guys gotta check her out!!! Her high notes will stop your world. She has grown up so much and I can't imagine i'm older than her >.< She's soooo pretty ♥ But it's her voice you gotta listen to, it's worth it! Watch her 'Why Why' & 'Daybreak Rain' MV and sure, you'll love her!!!On the episode in 'Hidden Singer 2', she also did IU's 3-octave high note in 'Good Day' song.
Huh Gak|허각
Date of Birth: November 15, 1984 Years active: 2010--present Label: A Cube Entertainment
The winner of the Mnet talent competition series ‘Superstar K’ 2 under A Cube Entertainment. He is known as ‘The man who turned the tables’ and ‘The South Korean Paul Potts’. Before he appeared on Super Star K 2, he worked as a ventilator fixer and a festival singer. Huh Gak has a twin brother, Huh Gong. He has also particitipated in various drama OSTs.
A/N: You read it right! 'The man who turned the tables'. His voice will amaze you, it's very emotional. If his song is meant to be sad, he sings like he's crying all the feelings the song has. He deserves the title 'Superstar' and winning the competition is such a great big break for him! I love him, and I find him cute haha^^
6. Park Shi Hwan|박시환

He is known as the runner-up of Mnet's Superstar K5. He released his first single, There's Nothing I Can Do on April 10, 2014. He has produced his first mini album 'Spring Awakening'. Si Hwan sung one of the OSTs for TV series "Emergency Couple" entitled 'The Way We Loved'

Our world is a jar of many wonderful artists and fans! Anyway, let's go to my point. This is a huge world and there's a lot of very talented or, should I say, multitalented artists/groups out there. Wouldn't it be better if we engage ourselves into many artists/groups as we can instead of sticking to one or maybe just a number of them? Come on! Expand your playlist! There's a lot of artists out there that are worth your heart and ears. Explore Korean music. I mean, like, come out of your comfort zones and try listening to others too but i'm not saying you should leave your previous fandoms. That's what i'm trying to do, too. Isn't it better if you know a lot of artists? It's like an adventure and it's fun! Imagine yourself watching the whole music show without knowing some of the performers or maybe just the MCs? It feels better if you know them one by one and just spazz throughout the whole show! And of course, you'll have a larger circle of friends from different fandoms!
