— cho seojun was born in seogwipo, jeju island on a rainy april afternoon. his father had died due to heart failure long before his birth, leaving baby seo to be raised by his young mother and his very energetic grandmother. he was born into a very small community, but a very loving one. seojun would often walk around town as a child (which wasn't very safe) to see what the rest of his neighborhood was doing. old family friends often describe him as a very adorable and energetic child with a knack of getting into trouble. which, was true to say in the least. seojun and his grandmother were often known around seogwipo as causing a lot of messes. they were a very notorious, yet loved, duo. seojun was swimming by the time he was four and diving by the time he was seven. seojun sites his grandmother as his most favorite person in the world and appreciates her more than anyone.
when seojun was thirteen years old, he was scouted by a television director / producer (park sangmin) who was on vacation in jeju. he stated that seojun was perfect for the role that he was looking to cast, and would earn a lot of money and fame from this. seojun, who was very interested in drama and an active member of the jeju children's drama club rapidly accepted, though his mother took a bit more convincing. for the next four months seojun traveled to seoul, living with sangmin whilst shooting for the drama 'moon embracing the sun'. he gained some devoted fans from this role and became known for being an upcoming child star and won multiple awards for his acting. while staying in seoul during this time seojun also filmed for the drama 'missing you' before returning to jeju and virtually falling off of the map.
about a year and a half later, park sangmin contacted seojun again, this time about a movie role. a lead in the movie 'hwayi: boy monster'. seojun was very intrigued by the plot and again accepted the job. the filming took place in jeju, lasting for around a month and a half. it sold around 2 million tickets during its first day of premiere, and again, seojun won many awards for his acting skills. seojun was praised for his talents, and was offered many different roles as time went on, though declined all of them in order to focus on his studies. seojun was once again forgotten about in no time, despite being recognized by vacationers in seogwipo more often than he would like, seojun mostly lived a normal life as a normal high school student.
in 2014 the cho's family business began to rapidly decline. though it wouldn't seem like an issue due to seojun's acting career, the truth is the young boy didn't earn much money. most of his paycheck went to production fees and helping pay for staff. the money that he did earn was spent on house renovations and went just as quickly as it came. in october of the same year he was offered a proposition by ksh entertainment, whose ceo, kang sanghoon, had been a loving fan of seojun since his debut. sanghoon had met the boy multiple times in person, though never made him any offers before. sanghoon proposed that seojun join his idol band, which would be heavily promoted around korea and thus earn seojun more money that he could ever imagine. after heavy consideration and heart-breaking discussions with his family, seojun took ceo kang up on his offered. packing up his bags and permanently moving to seoul with a heavy heart, seojun hesitantly went down the next path in his life.

— seojun moved into the dorm the first day of arriving in seoul, though didn't meet his fellow members until the following week. at first the air between the five boys was very awkward and tense. seojun didn't have to work at all to guarantee his spot in #access unlike the other members. he wasn't that skilled musically, so seojun had to work very hard in the weeks before their first public appearance as a group. in all honesty, seojun felt very insecure around the other members, who were all actually very nice to him. seojun went many days without sleeping and pushed himself very hard in order to be even close to the other members's skills. trainee life was extremely hard for him, and he hated every second of it. seojun knew that it would be well worth all of the hardships, but that didn't stop him from wishing that he was back home.

there is nothing mihyun cares about more in the world than her child. despite how much she works running a fish market (with jongok), she would always come home and play with her son. mihyun is completely supportive of seojun's passion for the arts, though she is very sad that he had to leave home. she calls him often to make sure that he's alright, and misses seojun to death. she does her best to save up money to visit him in seoul, though with how expensive things are getting and the slowly declining stream of business in her market it might be a while until she's able to do so.

soohyun and seojun first met on the set of 'the moon embracing the sun', a drama in which seojun was casted to play a younger version of soohyun's character, lee hwon. the two got along very well, after all they both came from similar situations and have similar personalities. soohyun was very introverted as a child and didn't ever think he could make it in the entertainment industry, something he could see in seojun. he took seojun under his wing and proclaimed seojun as his younger brother after the first day of shooting. seojun respects his most favorite hyung a lot and listens to everything he says. the two are very close, seojun often texts soohyun when he's nervous, tired, or even just bored. the two have something akin to a older and younger brother relationship.
