as if being a woman wasn't low enough, she had to be sold for the price of a little sack of gold. without having to have any form of exchange for her freedom, her belief of dying as a slave shall be marked against her heart for the rest of eternity.
history

Yeuldang was the youngest child and the only daughter of the Nam House. She has two older brothers who were exactly a year apart from one another. She came in three years after them. She was actually not planned since a family with two sons was enough to get you somewhere. Growing up, she felt how distant her father and two brothers were. They did not associate themselves much with Yeuldang but they did have a close bond with their mother. Her brothers were allowed to attend the best school while she remained at their abode--learning the basics of what a housewife should know. From sewing to preparing meals to washing the laundry at the nearby river, her mother taught her what she needed to have to be a proper wife. As her family continued to focus on their own endeavors, Yeuldang would spend her time mostly at their small library where she would read the books that seem to have not been touched for about a decade.

It came to a point where the family's business of selling harvests came to a hault when famine hit the small town of Siheung. Her father--whom have made promises of providing more for their customers--have started to go under extreme harassments through words and actions from the towns people. It would take them a while to repay their debts to the people and they were not sure if they had enough to provide at the due of the second harvest. Yeuldang wanted to help her family and so she took a small job of being a hired mourner for the dead relatives of other noble families. She was not much of a person who wept for she had grown up in a family whom showed no emotions of remmorse. The pay was smaller since she seem to have lacked the heart in mourning but any sort of money would be of help to their family.

It was then when they used Yeuldang as their only resort to pay off their debts. Well..not really. Upon contacting the Jung family, one of the noble houses from Joseon, they have made a deal to sell their daughter for any amount that was being carried by the head of the family as he met with the Nams. Instead of the original plan of repaying the people for their failed promises, they took the money and left with the whole family to start anew. Yeuldang was left stunned and the feelingof betrayal took over her. Her family left her and they did not seem to mind that they lost their only daughter to a pack of strangers. Upon their arrival at Joseon, she was officially mark with the seal of being the lowest rank that has ever set foot in their house.

She was given a room that was used as storage for old books that were only used for show whenever visitors arrived. It was not all bad since she could still read but she was still drowning in sorrow that not only her humanity was lost on that day but also her voice. One of the head's sons attempted to ually abuse her and fear overcompassed her but she could not scream. She was too afraid of what the family would say if she told them. It was only fortunate for her that the head of the house caught his son in the act and forbade him in conversing with Yeuldang. It may have seemed like she was protected but her master only made it worse. To make sure that no one would be able to do anything against the newly acquired slave, she was to be locked within her room unless she is needed.

Her daily life was to wake up at dawn and to start preparing with the other slaves that resided in the house. Seeing that she came from a low class before, she was given the task to clean the pig's pen and she must be able to do the message delivery from one master to another. She kept her silence but as she grew and grew more into the family, she learned how to hide it all under a mask. A mask that was to be what she is until death comes to her.

personality

TRAITS. Patient, Hard-working, Obedient, Coward, Paranoid, Gentle, Pessimist

She is very patient whenever her masters treat her ever so hashly. She knows that she wasbought and even if this was against her will to do so, she must be patient which each and every request. She is also hard-working. She may be a slave but she chooses to provide the best of what she can serve them for. She is also very obedient. Despite having a number of male slaves n the house, she still obeys the heavy tasks assigned to her by the master of the house.  She cannot kill the smallest fly even if she had no choice in life. She treats everyting with so much poise and care even if she was to be treated more with such disadvantage.

She is easily paranoid with the smallest of things. Small changes have drove her into a slight panic attack since she is not keen on the idea of having unnecessary changes to her life alone. She is also a coward. She could not stand up for herself even if she wanted to. She is easily frightened when people approach her and it comes off as unfavorable for most of the people she has interacted with. She has basically lost all hope that she will ever have her life improved. She sees only the bad sides of what may happen if she has failed to do the duty life asks of her.

overview

FAVORITES. Sound of Rain, Strawberries, Children, Books, Starry Nights, Animals, Drawing, Being smiled at, Campfires by the river

HATES. Being yelled at, Being approached, Skinship, Being physically hurt, Sound of blades being sharpened, The Sons of the House

HABITS. Drawing on the dirt while using a twig when she wants to express her thoughts, shivering intensely when sehe is afraid of something, rubbing her nose whenever she is about to get sick, going to the river late early in the morning to freshen up because the family does not allow her to use their own bathroom, the bruise on her lip as she ponders on her harships

HOBBIES. Drawing, Reading the books in the small room given to her, gazing at the stars from her small window, feeding the animals that are both owned and not owned by the family, writing random words of a small parchment she often keeps hidden from the family

FEARS. Physical Abuse, Skin contact, Snakes

FUN FACTS. She is actually quite smart but she would never use any of her knowledge against anyone. She also sings well but does not intend to take it seriously so it was not much of a big deal when she went mute. She also loves seeing or having children play around her because it's the main point from which she gains happiness from. She had never had any romantic affairs nor does she intend to have one because she believes that bringing a child into a status as such will only be harder for her family. If the family allows her to leave the house for free time (which is only for a day), she would spend her time getting lost at the forest where she can think freely.

love interest
love interest. Park Jinyoung
age. 21 years old
plotline.THe favorite slaveboy

RELATIONSHIP. Favored by the Im Family, Jinyoung is much more free to do as he wants when he is granted the capability to do so. He is never treated harshly by the famlily which could mistake him as the youngest son of te Im but his ragged shirts and dirty skin said otherwise. Upon getting to meet Yeuldang, he had grown quite fond of her He was always so curious on why tis beautiful girl was merely a slave and not one of the noble sons's concubine. She was very distant from him because of their masters simply abhoring each other but Jinyoung's curioisty and interest for her was quite stronger than their feud. They actually share quite a lot of similarites since Jinyoung was not favored by his real family as well since he chose not to study but to simply enjoy life. This is what lead to his situation now. To get rid of the only different son from the Park family wit a pay for doing so. He was open into telling anyone that including Yeuldang but he find it hard to decode her. She did not want to be close to him and finding out that she was mute had made it harder for him. He bowed to himself that even if he would lose the favor of his master, he would do everything to find out who the real Yeuldang is under that mask.

PERSONALITY. The Im Family has got to be one of the nicest familis in Joseon. They were not really ill-hearted but tey still had a few grudges against other families. Jinyoung was a very bright person and that did not change even after he was sold to their family. He was sweet and caring towards the female members of the house and he was a great companion to the male members of the house. He is quite loyal to the family and he seeks to serve at the best of what he can do. He also shares a lot of stories of his adventures to the head of the family who takes in all of them with such great interest. He was offered once a higher rank among the servants of the house but he told them thhat he was living well enough to be healty so he was alright with whatever state he was in. Jinyoung is not the type to worry about the future. He just wants to value what is present in front of him than dwell in the future of the unkwown.

MEETING. Foul messages or messages of threat were being sent from the Jung Family to the Im Family or vice versa. Simple trophies of having more money or worksmen than the other house was already something to boast about. Aside from informing them about their crops and what not, they were asking the sons of both families to go through a duel on who will have a son who will be an official at the royal palace. Yeuldang was asked to send the message to the Im's at late night.. She wore a hood that covered her well and kept her gender a secret.

final touches

COMMENTS. I have finally finished it. I hope you like her ><
SUGGESTIONS. Actually battles? It would be great f the story does not weigh more on the love aspect but also the aspect of war, betrayal and death.
