— when hyunsoo is with his parents, he's the epitome of the perfect child and looks as such with his dark wash jeans, khaki's, button down shirts, or polos. things like t-shirts, tanks, or anything overly colorful or too black is not in his wardrobe as his parents would most likely kill him if they saw him in such things. Especially when they expect him to be a mechanical engineer that can uphold the family name and make them proud, so anything that they would consider tacky, odd looking, or something that would be worn on those idiotic drug addicts that all the teenagers call music is just not worn. luckily, while he's away at school, he's able to keep his hair a lot longer than his parents like, but due to him taking care of it and making it look nice despite it's length, they let him keep it, even if they nag him whenever he comes home for holidays. gifted with a clear complexion and the type of skin that tans easily in the summer, most would call hyunsoo a good looking kid. a good looking nerd that is, but a good looking kid nonetheless.
    — WHen hyunso is away at college, he has a lot more freedom with what he gets to wear. so everything that he wears for his parents, he usually ditches for something that he actually likes. so band t-shirts with the likes of genesis, rush, pistols, led zeppelin, and any 80's rock/alternative, he'll wear instead. skinny jeans (acid-wash/ripped jeans), leather pants (yes, leather pants... his bandmates forced him to get some for their gigs.), and some skinny corduroys, hyunsoo looks like a completely different person. though he'll occasionally pair his t-shirts with button down shirts or his jean jacket when the weather gets colder. he'll also never be seen without his vans or doc martins.
    extra┊he has a scar from having his appendix taken out when he was 15 and he has a scar that curves around his shoulder from falling out of a tree when he was 7. he doesn't have any tattoos and doesn't plan on getting any either, especially since his parents would probably disown him if he did.

- Due to hyunsoo's double life between his life in chicago and his life at home, hyunsoo acts compltely different at home than he does at school. At home, he's timid, quiet, and is the example of a perfect child. He dresses how his parents want him to dress, he acts how they expect him to act (to only give his opinion when asked and even then, it's not even his actual opinion), and stays to himself. he is expected to be polite and collected in front of his parents and he's never supposed to talk back. it's almost as if he's a robot and the only time he's allowed to relax is when he's with his younger sister and away from their parents. So while he doesn't show much personality in front of the rents, his sister knows about how he can be, at least to an extent. Because despite being close to his sister, he still doesn't tell her everything or act as rebellious as he does at school. So while he's a bit more outspoken with her and will smile around her and be the big brother than he is and spoil her, she just knows him as the cool and slightly awkward big brother that loves her and does his best to protect her. and while she knows he's not as perfect as he's trying to be for their parents, trying to be the child they can count on and doing everything that is expected of him, she doesn't know how he's like at school. so it's pretty safe to say that when hyunsoo is at home with his family, he's barely himself.
- in chicago, hyunsoo allows himself to relax quite a bit and actually shows quite a bit more personality than what one would expect from someone like him. but in chicago, hyunsoo's quite sarcastic, sassy, and has the habit of muttering things under his breath when he doesn't agree with something but doesn't want to step out of line. and while that sometimes gets him in trouble with his friends, he's able to curb that habit when it comes to his teachers at school. at school, he does what is expected of him, but no more. while with his bandmates, he's a little bit of a . Because being with four other little s that are way worse than him in the attitude department, especially lately, it's hard not to have their attitude rub off on him. so when he's with the band, he's more prone to being loud and obnoxious and a little bit stuck up. he's hard to get along with to be honest, but that's his charm. he'll bluntly tell you what he thinks and while he may seem mean about it at times, it's more or less due to word vomit and not having enough filter to deal with people anymore. it's like he's let himself go and with him being a bit of a punk in a rock-alternative band that smokes too much (he dislikes this to be honest, but that's more to the fact that his friends smoke cigarrettes and smoke so much that it seems like they're constantly hotboxxing tobacco.), drinks too much, and probably doesn't practice as much as they should, he's become cynical and unable to deal with people anymore because after dealing with his parents and then band members that he thought were friends but probably aren't really friends, he's made himself out to be an to protect himself. and with him being in a band filled with s, it fits.
- at republic records, hyunsoo is a bit of a mix of both personas. he's a lot more collected and calm there (and he can be quite polite at times, but it just depends on who he's talking too really, but it's usually kids that get the most of that politeness or certain people that have gained his trust that get it. but if he's overly polite to the point that he becomes a doormat, basically how he is with his family, then that's usually due to him being scared rather than actually being respectful to that person.), able to breathe a lot better, especially since reckless records doesn't make him stress to the point of not knowing what to do and possibly putting him into a depression or make him put up a front. and believe it or not, most of the staff like him and actually don't mind being his friend without external conditions (like if you don't do this, then I won't be your friend type of stuff), and he likes that. he likes that he can be sassy and sarcastic at times, able to tease some of his coworkers or maybe make fun of his boss, even though that's really hard to do most times since atlas seems almost perfect. but there are plenty of times where he can just be quiet and keep to himself and not be expected to do what is expected of him due to the persona he has with the band or his family. atlas just expects him to do his work and if some days he's a bit more sassy than he is others or quieter because he just needs a little bit of silence in his life, then so be it.
- with his coworkers, he's more of a deadpan, sarcastic snarker that will listen because he's a good listener, but he can't give advice worth anything since he gives ty advice. stubborn and the type to not really tell people his feelings, it's like pulling teeth when it comes to getting him to talk about things, especially when it comes to the thinks that scare him less. overall, he's a decent person that does have a heart, but he's still a bit of a punk. (who is really scared of his family finding out about his band. his job at reckless records, how much he dislikes engineering, and how he really is as a person.)

- ever since he was young, Hyunsoo has let his parents run his life, forcing him to do things he may or may not wanted to do. But since he was their first born son and was under the pressure to be this perfect being that doesn't disappoint his parents ever, hyunsoo has grown up in a very oppressive environment that has pretty much dictated his every move since he was born. becauses to his parents who only wanted the best for him, they couldn't help but force him to do the things that they did, thinking it was what he wanted to do because when they were kids, they wished that they had the same chances that hyunsoo does. Because in america, there are so much more chances than there are in korea when it comes to job security, schools, and being able to make money. and because of that, hyunsoo was forced to get good grades, take up violin lessons (which eventually turned into guitar lessons, something he was actually interested in much to his parents dismay), play sports, and basically be the perfect son that did anything and everything with a certain skill and grace.
- so it was safe to say, hyunsoo did not grow up in an environment that let him a lot of time to think, to make his own choices, and make mistakes. however, that doesn't mean he's never made any in his life, because despite how much pressure his parents have put on him and how much he's struggled to be a son that they could be proud of, hyunsoo knows that he's not, whether he wants to admit it or not. because as much as he could deal with the constant studying, the constant extracurriculars, etc... he couldn't deal with the fact that he's never been attracted to women, no matter how much he wants to be. And due to that, he knows that he's failed as a son right there, but feeling like he can get past those feelings of not wanting girls and wanting guys, he hides that part of himself away, in fear of being found out.
- but it's not until college that things start to go differently. because as sheltered and oppressive as his household was, college was not. and with his school being a good 4 hours away from where his parents and sister live, he's had a lot more freedoms than he knows what to do with himself. freedoms that have made him realize how much he dislikes engineering or any other technical degree, how much he hates half of the sports/hobbies that his parents forced him into, how much he enjoys music and things like cooking, so much so that he doesn't shy away from wanting to make food for his friends or try a new recipe. or how he enjoys playing the guitar with his buddy Martin and the rest of wild blossom, even if most of them aren't the greatest of people. or how he gets to try so many new things that his parents would never want him to do, but he does for the sake of just wanting to do them because he's at college and as long as he's not doing something that will get back to his parents, he's more than okay than being free. but since he's free, that doesn't mean he has the means to be that way and due to that, hyunsoo needed a job and since reckless records was hiring and was only a short train ride away from his campus, he decided to take a chance and get a job that could fund his freedom. because as much as his scholarship paid for the rest of his schooling, it definitely did not fund his weekly activities and food.
- so meeting atlas, who had to be the hottest man hyunsoo had ever seen in his life with his big hands, gruff voice and y accent, and dark eyes that made him squirm whenever they looked at him, hyunsoo couldn't help but want the job. not only for the money, but to experience a freedom he never really experienced before and that was harboring a onesided crush on a man so good looking that hyunsoo couldn't even talk himself out of doing. but with his knowledge of music (from rock to classical and the occasional pop song), his good manners (manners that atlas was quick to realize were only reserved for certain people like his family and children... while the rest of the time he could be a little bit of a sarcastic when he wanted), and just needing people to run his store that weren't too uppity and snobbish, hyunsoo had gotten the job. a job he's been working at for at least half a year now and a job that literally causes himself to question even more things about himself, especially when everyone that works at reckless records are quite different than his family sans his sister, his mates in his band, and the people at school that are either trying to cheat off him or talk down on him as if he's stupid. so it's pretty safe to say, reckless records is a bit of a safehouse away from overly religious, asian, oppressive parents and stupid idiots that constantly get worse by the week.

- hyunsoo is lactose intolerant, even though he'll occasionally eat ice cream, only to regret it later.
- he is allergic to strawberries/nuts and will have severe allergic reactions if strawberries are consumed, so he carries an epi-pen with him everywhere.
- he has a passion for cooking and is quite good at it, but due to his parents wanting him to be either an engineer, lawyer, or doctor, Hyunsoo chose to go into engineering because he was good at math. however, he enjoys cooking a lot more and likes to cook for his friends and family.
- his friend martin taylor was the one that convinced him to join wild blossoms since hyunsoo learned how to play guitar when he was twelve and hyunsoo was the only one he could really go to since his last guitarist left the group.
- surprisingly he dislikes christmas, only for the fact that he was born on that day and most people either forget his birthday, which he dislikes, especially since most people are on break with their families. and his parents have this habbit of lumping the two together because they're cheapskates and think there is not a problem with lumping the two days together, especially when they've always laughed off his displeasure because of it. (he loves his parents and he's not trying to be spoiled, but it would be nice for his family to have a special dinner a couple of nights before for his birthday and something separate for christmas. nevermind the fact that his family is catholic and spend a good portion of the day at church.)
- hyunsoo has had one girlfriend and he dated her for a couple of weeks in high school, but he's been single ever since. but not because he's ugly or anything like that, but because he knows he likes guys, but with the way things are, he doesn't even want to attempt saying anything. he'll be thrown out and disowned and those that have come out usually end up getting the beat out of them or in a body bag. both scare him less, but he just can't bring himself to pretend he likes girls either, so he stays single and tells no one about who and what he likes.
- hyunsoo's favorite genre is new wave, but he's into rock as well, and has a soft spot for blondie.

+ Lee Jonggyu | 49 | engineer | stern, disciplined, authoritarian, conservative, stubborn | hyunsoo's not particularly close to either of his parents, but when it comes to his father, hyunsoo is his son and he must obey his orders. Jonggyu is a hard man to get along with as he's not overly emotional, unless you anger him, and he just doesn't try to understand his children as much as he should. especially when it comes to hyunsoo, who tells him nothing of how he really is and keeps up a facade around the man in fear or having the other find out how imperfect he really is. and with his family being quite religious as well, hyunsoo knows that if his secret about his uality comes out, it would be over for him. nevermind the fact that if his father found out about the band he was in or how he was quietly looking into culinary schools, dreaming about being a chef, hyunsoo knows that his father would have a fit. because in the lee household, there are only so many jobs that hyunsoo could choose from and engineering happened to be it. jonggyu is also the reason why hyunsoo decided to go to college a couple of hours away instead of the state school that was near his house. luckily, jonggyu treats his sister a lot better than he does to him.
+ lee ga-ok | 47 | secretary | disciplined, critical, strong, prideful | unlike minjung who gets along with his mother, the two having a very strong bond that Ga-ok does not have with her son, not being able to find a common ground that really allowed them to bond, hyunsoo is very civil with his mother. he loves her and knows she's done a lot for the household and sees things in a slightly different light than his father, being a bit more accepting of things, but she never coddled him like she does minjung. in fact, hyunsoo never got many hugs or anything like that as a child, so things like skinship are a foreign concept to him and he shies away from those that don't mind giving out hugs and whatnot. because ga-ok never really did that with him and neither did his father. they made sure he couldn't shame the family and put him through a lot of stuff to make sure he would be successful later in life. so if that meant giving up personal time to study or play a sport he didn't really like, then so be it. he had to make his parents proud in anyway possible, even if it meant lying to himself. (but having college where he didn't have to associate with them as much, it was like he was free and he can't help but want even more of the freedom that he has received, but he's too afraid to really do anything about those freedoms, hence why he has a double life.)
+ Lee Minjung | 13 | - | rambunctious, earnest, forgiving, observant, fiery | if there is one person that hyunsoo would do anything for with a smile on his face is his sister. due to the and his parents working, hyunsoo was often left in charge of his sister so the two ended up being quite close due to that and hyunsoo has a sense of duty when it comes to her. She's his little sister and he loves her and wants to protect her and he's just glad that despite how hard his parents are on him, they are less hard on her, which he more than appreciates. while minjung loves her brother and is glad that he treats her with respect and is always there for her, always willing to lend her a hand and a hug, despite not being too fond of those in the first place.
FRIENDS/RIVALS/LOVE RIVALS/ETC...┊
+ Martin Taylor | 24 | deadbeat/wild blossoms band member | lazy, uncontrollable, two-faced, dependent, unreliable, manipulative | during high school, Martin was someone that hyunsoo looked up to and idolized, almost to the point that one could essentially say that Martin was one of hyunsoo's first crushes. especially since there were many times where hyunsoo did have wet dreams about him, despite being in denial about that and not wanting to say anything about it in fear of his family. but since he looked up to the other and actually went to the same college as him and eventually being in one of the same courses as him, it didn't take long for Martin to reach out to him to be their guitarist for wild blossom and be in the band. but after a couple of months of being in wild blossom and doing things he's not always happy to be doing, especially since Martin has this habit of guilt tripping him into doing things, hyunsoo can't help but start viewing wild blossom as something terrible rather than something fun like he used to do. especially when Martin and some of the other members are getting into drugs and even doing things like missing practices or bailing on gigs throughout.

- Atlas has always been an independent, courageous, respectful, and talented person. being quite popular due to his looks and good personality, usually always knowing what to say and just being the type that you could count on. and while he was necessarily smart when it came to school, he was street smart and was the type of person that could guide himself through different relationships well. he was able to read people as if they were books and when you combined that with his natural talents for athletics and just being the type of person that gave you good vibes, many people flocked to him and liked him. but despite being a people person, atlas didn't really care what people thought about him or try to hard at getting people to like him for superficial reasons. if they liked him, then they liked him, but if they didn't, then they didn't. and because of that, he was steady as a rock and dependable.
- but it wasn't until he was a little bit older and in college that things changed when he came out to his parents, unable to keep his uality a secret any longer. because after years of questioning himself, atlas knew he had to be truthful and stop lying about what and who he really liked. and since he hated lying to his parents about girlfirends and potential wifes anyway, he decided to tell them. but instead of expecting them to be wary and unable to understand him at first, something he could have dealt with, they decided to disown him instead. hurt and forced out, atlas became a bit more jaded and a lot more serious than when he was a teenager. but despite that, people became a lot easier to read and understand, because when you were hurt they way he was hurt, he found himself able to understand people a lot better.. but not one to give up, despite going through a small stint of depression and staying at one of his friends' place for a while, he decided to move to chicago for a fresh start.
- At reckless records, most would say atlas was a good guy with a good heart, despite being too serious and a little too fond of drinking and smoking cigarrettes. but despite his vices, he was a good person and people just liked him without him even trying. especially since it only took a couple of words of advice from him or seeing him go out of his way to support his crew to realize that despite his slightly more quiet nature, he was kind. and with his confidence, good looks, and music taste, atlas was just a cool guy.

Relationship┊as much as hyunsoo tries to deny his crush on the other man and how much he finds him attractive, hyunsoo is thankful to atlas' presence in his life and being able to work at reckless records. because unlike his parents and his friends that aren't really friends, atlas has never lied to him and never goes out of his way to trick him with kindness or anything like that. and because of that, hyunsoo cant' help but like the guy and while he can't help but be a bit of a sassy little to him, occasionally talking back or telling him how much his music taste is , sometimes going so far to antagonise him at times, atlas just gives him a knowing look and lets him do that until he feels better. because as much as a hyunsoo is to him, not even using his manners, atlas can tell hyunsoo is a good and kind person deep down. he's just hurt and is just lashing out at him to see what he'll do, wondering when atlas will throw him out. because as much as hyunsoo wants to be taken seriously and seen as someone that is much stronger than he is, hyunsoo isn't that strong at all. he's not weak, but he's vulnerable and atlas feels a connection to him, almost as if hyunsoo is a young atlas himself.. and when hyunsoo isn't being stupid about his feelings towards him, he's a lot kinder and nicer than he lets on. he's a good listener and he's always willing to help, even if it means getting home late at night. because despite looking like a punk and trying to act like one, hyunsoo truly isn't a punk. he's just uncomfortable with himself at the moment and as much as atlas isn't always cool with the sass, atlas cant' help but want to be kind to hyunsoo because it's quite obvious that not many people have truly been kind to him. and atlas wants to change that.
First meeting┊hyunsoo needed a job and seeing one of the flyers for reckless records around campus, hyunsoo decided to apply and eventually got an interview out of it. an interview that ended with atlas and hyunsoo talking about music, hyunsoo's band, as well as hyunsoo's time at school. and while atlas didn't know much about engineering, he knew that hyunsoo was the type of person that would do his best in any position and would have a lot of fun with working for him. even if music and engineering weren't true loves. but needing someone dependable and having the added bonus of being able to use wild blossom's popularity with college kids, atlas ended up hiring him. but only for the fact that of the seven other interviews that day, too many of them tried to up to him or just weren't good people in general. and despite hyunsoo being quite polite in the beginning, overly polite at that, it didn't take long for the other to relax and start making cracks at the music he liked or the cigarrettes he smoked. and because of that candidness that hyunsoo gave, despite probably not expecting himself to do what he did, atlas decided to hire him. and while hyunsoo is still rough around the edges, he's quite the hard worker. never mind quite attractive too.
