Unfortunately I am away from home cos I study oversea. But rest assure, Singapore's transport system is very straightforward. Most touristy places have clear signs/instructions, and easily accessible via public transport (bus/MRT). You can visit the Singapore Tourism website for more information. If you're lost, google map is your saviour! Haha. You can buy those prepaid sim card with data allowance in any 7-11 stores (I'm sure even at the airport).
Accom wise, I'm not sure cos I am a Singaporean lol! Maybe some other people who have been to Singapore might be able to recommend you some places to stay.
Generally, Singapore is a safe city. You can stay out late at night (but well of course do the common sense of not walking in dark streets or dodgy streets).
Everyone speaks English in Singapore, so you don't have to worry about language barrier if you're lost :)
