CHARACTER NAME » Fujioka Harumi
NICKNAME(S) »

Haru-chan; she doesn't seem to like the name harumi because she thinks it sounds weird so she insists that everyone should call her 'haru' only.

Spring Beauty; that's exactly what her name means- the spring beauty, since she was born in spring.

The Fourth/Last Fuji; she's the fourth and last child in her family so her neighbours like to call her this as a joke.

President/Kaichou; she used to be the president of the mahjong club in her high school.

Rinshan-san; her favourite winning move is rinsha kaihou so the people around her neighbourhood and her opponents used to call her this.

The Reaction Queen; she apparently gives really good and funny reactions on variety shows, hence the names.

APPEARANCE » Haru stands at about 170cm and weighs 50kg. She currently has brown hair that falls to the middle of her back with purple dip dye. Haru has always liked plaiting her hair in elaborate hairstyles (      ) and she seems to not have grown out of it yet- even though she's so old. Haru has large eyes and a nice eyesmile- which is what deceives her opponents when she plays mahjong. They would never expect such a scary demon to be present in such a sweet looking girl. She has been dyeing her hair with different coloured dip dyes since her debut- but because she debuted with purple dip dye, she stuck with it all the way up till now- even though she's entered Rad Star Entertainment.

FASHION STYLE » Haru, honestly likes to dress cutely- it surprises people a lot because they don't see her as the kind of person who would forlick around in cute dresses but she is that kind of person. Comfort and beauty come first for her- she is somehow always able to find something that is both cute and comfortable. She likes dresses with lace and dresses that are purple. It's a double bonus if the dress has both. This is her usual dressing, especially when she's on variety shows and at the airport (      ). Sweatpants, hoodies and tank tops are her best friends at the dorm and at practice. She can usually be seen in purple too but it's hard to find her not wearing at least one article of clothing that is purple- she just loves the colour too much.

LOVE INTEREST » Mahjong.
BACKUP LOVE INTEREST » Member of Sniper.

PERSONALITY » Mahjong acts and adjusts itself accordingly to the person who's playing it.
BACKGROUND » They have a really long history together- they were introduced by Haru's family. They fell in love with first sight and with her first game, she won with a Rinshan Kaihou and that was the start of their everlasting relationship. They're practically married already.

RELATIONSHIP » It's a two way love relationship- Haru loves mahjong and mahjong loves Haru. I'm serious, why do you think she always gets a Rinshan Kaihou to win?
ENDING » How you want them to end up. If you don't care, just leave it blank.
Bombs Away
PERSONALITY » clever, crafty, flamboyant, loud, dramatic, blunt, caring

the one thing haru is known for, is her confidence in doing things, it matters not to her if she loses face in public because of her actions; she isn't one to care. due to this, she's really dramatic and tends to overreact in most situations- which can be both funny and annoying. yet, due to her overreaction, she gained the title "reaction queen" from the netizens after her debut in flair, because they found her very entertaining. she's very animated, as you can see- it's not surprising that she can be such a variety-dol. it's usually not a good idea to go out with haru, mainly because she tends to attract a lot of attention due to her flamboyance and more often than not, loud voice. she doesn't mind the attention though- she actually likes it a lot. some people call her egoistical because she likes attention, but haru would take none of that. she herself knows that she's not that way so why bother with what others so about you?

dramatic and flamboyant as she can be, haru is surprisingly a great leader, both while playing mahjong and out of it. she cares for her team mates a lot, and comforts them when they feel they have not performed well. she knows to encourage them too- really. like that one time during the prefectural tournaments, she treated her kids to ramen and even let them order seconds- which rose their spirits even more (they eventually went to the nationals isn't that great). haru is really good at giving prep talks- even when she might seem a little harsh while giving them. she can surprisingly be really blunt with her words a times. it's blunt and harsh even to get through to people but not even to break them- she just seems to know the perfect balance.

haru is very witty and clever, she can come up with a plan within a fraction of a second. it was especially useful when she was playing mahjong- because she could throw her opponent off-guard just when they think they've disrupted her flow. she has good foresight and is always a few turns before her opponent- she usually has an idea of the hands her opponents have got with them and she knows how to throw them off, sometimes even working with her enemy to throw off another more potent enemy. she just has this way of working with people. she understands their inner feelings ( don't ask me how she does, she just does lol ) and it allows her to empathize with them better- which is why she's pretty well-known around the mahjong industry for this aspect as well as her skills.

haru will usually stick to playing a rational style of mahjong outside of competition. however, during key moments in tournaments, she relies on bad waits because she feels that she always wins with them. she likewise believes that there is a meaning to each tile you grab, utilizing the flow of the game. she is also skillful at intimidating her opponents into her trap, as well as collaborating with other players to help take down a more potent opponent in a match. haru also plays a solid defensive game. her signature move is where she will get a winning tile and then "shoot" the tile into the air and slam it down and was henceforth described as having bad manners by her opponents- not that she cares- it's become a habit. The mahjong move she favors most is rinshan kaihou or "tsumo after a kan". rinshan kaihou literally means "a flower blooms on a ridge". with it, she is able to win hands when she isn't in tenpai at the start of her turn. aiding her rinshan kaihou ability is her enhanced ability to get kans. haru also has an enhanced ability to make last hand comebacks.

BACKGROUND »

fujioka sora and inoue ako met in the spring of 1977, in high school. it was like love at first sight for them- and they soon became high-school sweethearts. they dated throughout the entirety of their high school career. the one thing that brought them so close to each other in the first place was a single game; mahjong. it was something they both had in common. sora grew up in a mahjong family and so did ako. ako's family used to run a mahjong parlor back the day but it has turned into a cafe in present time. sora's family used to frequent the parlor when he was older and he saw ako there- he didn't know who she was because it was a new parlor but they eventually met in high school. after high school, ako and sora promised to get married after they finished university- and they kept to that promise. they got married in the summer of 1986 and ako was soon pregnant with their first child, whom was born the following year in the season of winter. they named her fuyumi- the winter beauty. two years down the road, ako gave birth to akihiko- the bright or autumn prince who was born in the fall. another two years went by and along came natsuko- the summer child who was born in the summer. they had planned to stop at three children but alas, fate brought their last child to them in the spring of 1993. they named that child, harumi- the spring beauty.

growing up, haru was completely exposed to the mahjong world- she began playing as soon as she knew how to speak- no really. and even at her young age, she was able to analyze and beat her family members in the mahjong games that they always played. her parents were delighted, seeing as how they had gotten one more mahjong player in their family (who proved to be a prodigy at it, other than akihiko), since fuyumi and natsuko didn't like it as much as the other two. haru was always close to akihiko- maybe it was because he loved mahjong every bit as much as she did, but then again, he always played with her a lot, be it mahjong or not. he was also the one who thought her all the mahjong techniques she needed to know. needless to say, haru ended pursuing a mahjong career when she entered middle school.

she entered in the team tournament with a few friends but they didn't even come close to winning because they weren't strong enough- they encouraged her to join the individual tournaments though, and she obviously won- she completely crushed all her opponents. after that, haru was thrown into the real mahjong scene. people were interviewing her left and right, they wanted to take her photos, they stalked her around- it got to the point where it was so bad that she had to get akihiko or natsuko to take her to school and fight off the press. she even ended up taking self-defense for the purpose of throwing off the paparazzi. things died down after a while when she entered high school, since she didn't join any official competitions. she found out that there used to be a mahjong club at her school and she jumped at the chance to resurrect it.

for the longest time, haru was the only member in her mahjong club- sure she gathered members but they never did stay long. they just didn't have the passion for mahjong. yet, haru persisted, and she waited. a year went by and someone showed up at the door to the club. it was a first year by the name of soyema mako, who had wanted to join the club. haru was ecstatic yet unsure, what if this first year was going to leave like the others? thankfully, that didn't happen, because mako stuck to the mahjong club (and haru) like glue.mako had tried to persuade haru to join the individual tournaments but she refused, insisting that she wanted to enter the team tournaments. another year went by and in came four new first-years. haramura nodoka, kataoka yuuki and suga kyoutaro join first, and later came along miyanaga saki, who's ability was extremely similar to haru's. with the joining of saki, they could finally enter at the prefectural tournaments as a team. haru encouraged them to enter in the individual tournaments as well. it was a tough fight at the prefecturals but they eventually emerged as the winners, and they would represent nagano at the nationals. it was a great honour. however, as usual, because haru had made a comeback in the mahjong scene, she was beginning to get bombarded again. this time though, she accepted it with a smile on her face. she wasn't the scared little middle school girl anymore.

her team entered the individuals and haru, saki and nodoka made it to the nationals as well, it was a really big deal for their mahjong club. at the nationals, they made it to the semi-finals before they lost but nonetheless, at the individuals, the three players made it all they way to the finals (it's a wonder how they didn't meet each other in the other rounds) but in the end, haru prevailed and won. that was when she was offered the opportunity to become a model after she finished high school.

she took up the stage name honda sakura and released very little information about herself, including her family and real name (though a fair bit of people knew) but she was afraid- afraid of making mistakes, afraid of disappointing her family (who'd whole-heartedly agreed to her new job), afraid of being in an unknown place all alone, you get the point. haru thought she wouldn't be cut out to do modeling but she showed a natural flair for it- seeing as how her flamboyant personality went and due to her previous publicity from her mahjong days, haru's popularity grew rapidly. she was doing photoshoots as a model, debuted as an actress and shot advertisements and dramas, did voice acting, and even started a singing career (though she showed some talent in rapping as well). it kept her well away from the love of her life, mahjong.

oh how she craved to play- but alas, she was never allowed out because of the overwhelming amount of fans she had, as well as the rivals she was steadily making. one in particular, nakamura rin, hated haru to the depths of hell because of her popularity- she hated haru's guts. like haru, rin was an upcoming model singer, who had debuted just shortly before haru did. yet, even though rin was popular in the beginning, she was thrown to the side when haru came into the picture, and was compared to the lass in anything she did. she detested that. she wanted so much to destroy haru and when the opportunity presented itself, rin took it, and struck haru with no mercy.

it was by mere coincidence that haru was hanging out with her brothers on two different days and that rin had caught her on both. she thought it was the perfect opportunity to destroy haru's career by exposing her as a "cheating , with no morals". she stalked haru throughout the both days with her brothers (she wasn't aware that they were her brothers, mind you and god knows how she wasn't discovered) and snapped a picture of her kissing her brother, natsuko's cheek, and a picture of her eldest brother, akihiko, kissing her forehead. ren then sent the pictures to the news agencies under anonymously, and the shocking news was published the very day. it was a big deal, because apparently the sweet honda sakura was dating the famous pro mahjong player, fujioka akihiko, as well as another unknown guy. her agency was constantly bombarded with phone calls for interviews and whatsoever. they were obviously very angry with her. they commented that she had forever ruined her image for "two-timing" even if they were her brothers and it was just brother-sister affection, but the public didn't know that- except for a few loyal followers of haru's, who defended her to no end, but it was to no avail.

in the end, her agency decided that it was time for her to stand down and retire as a model- she had already paid her dues with the overwhelming love she had received, so she was free to go. haru held a short press conference for her retirement and stepped back from the entertainment scene, returning to her humble hometown of nagano, and back in her mother's comforting embrace. however, despite this, rin continued to spread rumors about haru- about how she was guilty so she stepped down and hid away in the shadows. and because of rin, haru's news never really did die down. rin was happy of course, since her long-time rival was gone, and she would eventually gain her popularity back from the roles that she would overtake from haru.

yet, the news of her was so widely reported that it spread to other countries- more specifically korea, where lim junsung caught wind of it. rad star entertainment had just been established for over two years with the debut of yurim. junsung'd heard of haru since her middle school mahjong days and was mildly interested in haru's talents and visuals. he showed a video of her singing to yurim and (the oppa) to ask for their opinion on whether or not to send an invitation to a potential new member of the family. the two agreed of course, because such a talent would benefit the company- they believed that her controversy would bring them more fame rather than hate. thus, after gaining the approval and support, junsung contacted haru and asked for her to come to korea to train to become a kpop idol.

at first, haru was apprehensive of entering the entertainment scene again- she was afraid of history repeating itself. her entertainment career had only lasted a short year and a half before she was thrown out of it. she wasn't about to believe a random man (a korean one too at that matter) that she could have another chance at showbiz. yet, junsung persuaded haru and she decided to take the risk, once again. junsung promised that she could have a trial period before deciding whether or not she wanted to continue training, seeing as how she would be going to a foreign place where she might not be completely well received.

haru took the offer and flew to korea to meet up with junsung. her trial period lasted about a month and she made her final decision; she was going to stay and train, and she would make sure that she would one day prove to rin (whom she actually still has a grudge on) that she would be able to rise again even though she was once shot down. at some point, junsung told her to begin learning english- because he wanted her to participate in the show "Singer & Trainee" together with yurim to get her more predebut experiences for he had plans for a new group in the future. she won a few on the show, and was eventually titled "korea' beyonce" which she doesn't believe because no one will be up to par the god given talent of beyonce.

wisteria ✗ she's not completely sure why she likes it though- she just feels that wisteria, the colour, makes her feel really calm.

nakamura rin ✗ she's probably never hated someone so much in her life.
driving ✗ she's absolutely afraid of crashing but she somehow managed to get her license in korea. not like she's actually going to drive anyway. she prefers to sit in the passenger seat, so she always calls shotgun. no really.
people who are more dramatic than her ✗ she likes to be the most drama-mama in the house. no one should ever take that position from her.
things that make her panic ✗ driving, cytus and osu are on the top of her list because she always loses her cool when she's doing either activity.
when she can't play mahjong ✗ she'd go into depression, really- unless she's kept busy.

HABITS »

✗ she has this tendency to slam her tiles on the mahjong table, earning her comments from her opponents that she has bad manners.
✗ haru often sleep-talks and she can be rather scary at times, according to her members
✗ she always plays mahjong without any footwear.

SCENE REQUESTS » Okay, what I would really like to see is a confrontation between Haru and Rin if ECLIPSE ever debuts in Japan- they're bound to meet at some point-- and also Haru totally throwing off her mature image and running around the hallways of the company, disturbing every single staff she come across lolz.

COMMENTS / QUESTIONS » Sososososososo terribly sorry for the insanely long and boring background-- I just couldn;t help but explain how she got into entertainment. Hope I didn't bore you too much! >.< And, just for the record, I was not trolling you with mahjong as her love interest okay xD she really loves it too much. Also, I know that I pushed the boundaries of the plotline way to much and it's completely understandable if you want me to change it /shot/ in any case, I hope you've like Haru-chan!
