HEIGHT+WEIGHT » 178cm+63kg
APPEARANCE » JooHyeon is pretty attractive, even having quite a large fanbase as an ulzzang online. He's fairly thin and quite feminine, and he has come to like it over time. He has fair skin and big eyes given to him by his lovely mother.
PLASTIC SURGERY » No
FASHION STYLE » JooHyeon's fashion is extremely important to him. He treats himself like a human canvas and picks out his clothes based on how he want the world to view him. He loves accessories and has quite a collection, earning some light-hearted teasing from his stepfather, and would never be caught dead without jewelry of some kind on, at the very least a nice ring. He dresses in a lot of black, but he loves using a variety of colors for the accents on his outfits. When training, he usually wears a t-shirt and a jacket and shorts paired with sneakers for comfort's sake; however, when he's going out, he can take up to an hour tugging on ripped skinny jeans, choosing a studded jacket that looks perfect with his designer shirt, styling his hair, making extra sure his eyeliner in completely on point, and piling on rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc. He's always willing to try out a new style, even the outrageous things Yeo KaJi comes up with (though he can't honestly say he loves all of them).
THIS IS ME

PERSONALITY TRAITS » quiet, competitive, passionate, loyal, blunt, easily angered

PERSONALITY » JooHyeon tries to be the best person he can be, but he is still flawed in many ways. He can be rude, unsensitive, aggressive, overly-competitive, stubborn, and short-tempered (mostly traits aquired from his biological father). Even so, he is a good person at heart, wanting to make the people he loves happy. He has a hard time showing people emotions until he knows he can fully trust them, which can take a couple of years, and even longer when it comes to adults, whom JooHyeon has learned to rarely trust. In fact, he hates most of SYNTH's staff, though he is still polite to them and respects their authority. The only staff member JooHyeon has come to like is Yeo Kaji, due to their shared love for fashion and her kind and energetic personality that the other staff don't seem to have, and he wishes he was around her more, rather than the cold and boring trainers he sees on a daily basis.

He always has been and always will be a highly passionate person; he never gives life, love, or career any less than 100%. Everything he chooses to do, he chooses to do with as much determination as humanly possible. Many are turned off by this, but the friends and family around JooHyeon adore it, knowing he'll always give them back all the love they give to him by twofold. Although he is easily ticked off and has the tendancy to yell and throw objects when angry, he always feels horribly guilty afterwards and will do whatever he can to try to make up for it. He actually tries to overcompensates for his anger, creating a vicious cycle of rage and regret. Because of these emotions and actions, JooHyeon has developed a strong loathing for himself, but he hides it under a mask of mock narcissism in order to put others at ease. At school, he has developed a reputation for being a bit of a bad boy, which he thinks is utterly ridiculous; he associates "bad boys" with wannabe gangsters and try-hards. Of course, considering how much he dislikes talking to other people, he has never bothered to disprove the stereotype. Many mistake him for being apathetic or uncaring, but in all honesty, he's simply lazy and ridden with social anxiety. He hates school because he hates gossip, rules, dress codes, his teachers, his peers, and learning useless knowledge that he'll probably never use, and so he has often skipped class to go to auditions, concerts, or earn a little extra cash by singing and playing guitar on the streets. His parents either don't notice or don't care, because they've never confronted him about it.

JooHyeon has no plans to go to college or university, mind set on becoming an idol, so all he has going for him if SYNTH doesn't work out is his job at a local coffee shop. He enjoys it there, and the manager tells him he has a great shot at being promoted to assistant manager, which excites him. He loves the smell of coffee and finds brewing it to be relaxing; he also doesn't hate his coworkers (which is a rariety), and he's allowed to wear whatever eccentric clothing he wants, so he has no plans to quit until he's forced to by his company.

Despite his quirks and oddities, JooHyeon can be a great guy if one takes the time to understand him. His anger issues can be hard to handle and fairly intimidating, but he does his best to control himself and avoid hurting anybody's feelings, and he's usually a fun, refreshing person once you get to know him. The walls he's built around his heart are hard to get through, but all the work it takes to break them are worth it when you're in need of something-- he'll cross the seven seas for the people he cherishes. It is truly hard find someone more loyal than JooHyeon. He'll do anything to turn a tear into a smile, or a heartbreak into an opportunity, a rainy day into cloudless skies, and so on. Being the determined, competitive guy he is, "Ruthless" is just the competition he's been itching for, and he sure as hell won't let this chance to debut slip away. He has always been a strong believer that everyone's destinies are in their own hands. Due to this faith, he knows that his chance of winning a spot in SYNTH's first group is up to how hard he's willing to work, and so now he's prepared to do whatever in his power to rise to the top-- even if that means stepping on the other trainees to get there. He feels bad about how competitive he gets, but when it comes to his future, he's willing to do whatever he needs to do.

BACKGROUD  » Music has always been an escape for JooHyeon. He lived with a rather cruel biological father until his mother divorced him when JooHyeon was ten, and whenever the man was drunk and in a rage, JooHyeon learned that the best thing to do was to lock himself into his room, turn up his music, and let it take him away. It's a coping mechanism he uses to this day, and therefore is often seen daydreaming with earbuds and shut eyesafter an argument or in an uncomfortable situation. This was how JooHyeon first began singing, and from there, realized that singing was much more than a coping skill for himself; his voice could soothe, comfort, and help people in difficult situations, and at twelve years old he told his mother and new stepfather that he was going to become an idol. Although they both were highly against it at first, they came to see how important this dream was (and is) to their son, and they now support him fully.

JooHyeon had a hard time making friends when he was little; there was only one kid in his class that was kind to him, but his family moved to Canada when they were both eight, and JooHyeon went practically friendless until his first year of high school, when he met SooAh and ChanHo. Because of the lack of social interaction, his social skills have always been more than iffy, and he often offends people without trying to.

AUDITION/SCOUTING » JooHyeon started auditioning for companies when he was sixteen, but he didn't have any luck until he stumpled upon SYNTH's official site nearly two years ago and decided to send in an application. He then auditioned live, and to his joy, he was accepted. The judges knew he had a marketable face, and it helped that he already had a fanbase as an ulzzang, and his voice was also well-developed and smooth, perfect for capturing the hearts of young girls.

TRAINEE LIFE UNTIL NOW » None of his trainers particularly like him, but they can see how determined JooHyeon is and know that he has a good shot in the idol world. He trains from after school until midnight, and had been considering dropping out of high school to be able to train more, but HyoJin advised against it since he is already a third-year and can't do much in the practical world without a high school diploma anyway. He has accidentally made a couple of enemies with the other trainees due to his cold exterior, but most are either indifferent to him or even think of him as a motivation to work harder.

TOGETHER

FAMILY »
Mother || Lee Chae-Il || 40 || Math teacher || Sensitive, slightly weak, emotional, easily frightened, yet loving
JooHyeon loves his mother, he really does, but he has a hard time counting on her. It isn't that she's an untrustworthy person, it's just that she is emotionally very fragile and can't handle any amount of pressure or stress-- she was never able to stand up to JooHyeon's biological father when they were together. He has never gone to her for help or protection, as he knows she has a difficult time keeping her head up when things get tough. Actually, it is mostly JooHyeon who has protected Chae-Il all his life. He has always adapted and not blamed his mother whenever he had to fend for himself. Despite her sensitivity and lack of mental strength, Chae-Il isn't a bad mother, and only wants the best for her son. She loves him more than anyone else in the world, and they talk on the phone and visit often, and she is one of JooHyeon's biggest supporters in his quest to become an idol.

Stepfather || Eric Rodgers || 46 (American age) || English teacher || Social, intellegent, protective, caring, calm
Eric joined the family when JooHyeon was almost twelve, and it took JooHyeon until he was seventeen to accept him. Eric is a natural social butterfly, but sensing JooHyeon was the opposite, he never forced interactions with the boy, expecting him to open up when he was ready. Because of this, they never really got to know each other until JooHyeon was much older. They have a good relationship now, and Eric is always willing to help with homework, English, guitar, or anything else he can assist his only child with. They aren't particularly emotional or loving, but they have mutual respect and care for each other.

Biological father || Kwon ChunJi || Unknown || Unknown ||
JooHyeon has had no contact with ChunJi since he was ten (when he left the family), and he remembers little about him, aside from his alcoholism and constant screaming. He is the main source for JooHyeon's dislike for adults and his anger issues, but he tries not to let anyone see how much affect ChunJi had on him, so he rarely talks about him, and not many people know about JooHyeon's childhood. JooHyeon does his best to just forget about the man who raised him and has never seen himself as any sort of victim.

FRIENDS »
Best friend || Jung SooAh || 19 || Idol in girlgroup MinX || cheerful, energetic, playful, friendly, big-hearted
Soo-Ah is the comic relief of JooHyeon's life. Whenever he's down, he can count on this girl's silly jokes and antics to cheer him up. They went to school together, and SooAh has been the only classmate brave enough to befriend JooHyeon. He found her to be absolutely obnoxious at first, but after getting to know her and seeing how warm her heart is, JooHyeon came to love her. She is very considerate and trustworthy, and JooHyeon feels like he can tell her anything (which is why she is the only person who knows who his crush is). She may be loud and a tad annoying at times, but she's still a great friend.

MISCELLANEOUS »
Boss || Park HyoJin || 30 || coffee shop manager || Laid-back, caring, warm, understanding, trustworthy
JooHyeon has been working under HyoJin for four years, and in that time, he has come to think of her as a sort of big-sister figure. She is a steady, familiar rock that JooHyeon knows will always keep him grounded. She gives out honest yet sweet advice, always listens to JooHyeon when he needs to vent, and never fails to put a smile on someone's face. In the beginning, JooHyeon didn't think she was sincere, but he now realizes that she is just as kind as she appears, and she has destroyed the notion that all adult are bad.

SHORT DESCRIPTION ABOUT THEIR TALENTS » Singing is JooHyeon's main focus. He isn't particularly great at anything other than it, and since it has been his passion ever since he can remember, he strives to be the lead vocalist of the group. He has worked hard in school choir and local competitions and street performances for years, trying to make a name for himself in his community. As for rapping, he has the ability to do it, but his voice isn't anything spectacular in rap form and he also has a difficult time writing lyrics. He has no dancing experience outside of SYNTH and was a complete train wreck when first joining the company, but he has trained hard and gotten better... but of course, he still is quite lacking. JooHyeon is normally quiet around cameras, but whenever he does open his mouth to crack a joke, you can be sure it will leave everyone in the room laughing uncontrollably. Visual-wise, JooHyeon fits the bill, but he wants people to notice his vocal talent and not his face, so he is hoping to not become a visual.
ANYTHING ELSE » Although not anywhere near perfect at it, JooHyeon loves to play guitar. He has been teaching himself, with a few pointers from his bassist stepdad, for three years. He hopes to one day find a teacher so he can learn properly.
TIME TO LOVE

LOVE INTEREST»  Song ChanHo || 22 ('94 liner)|| model+ulzzang
PERSONALITY» ChanHo, like JooHyeon, is relatively quiet, but in a more bashful way than an antisocial way. He is gentle and emotional, as well as sensitive. He is one of few people who can calm JooHyeon down. He has struggled with depression in the past, but he feels it has made him stronger and showed himself that he can overcome any obstical. He is currently in college for business management, using the money he gets from modeling and odd jobs to pay for it, and he is a very dilligent student. He comes from a fairly well-off family, but ChanHo likes to be independant and is determined to pay for his college expenses himself, so he refuses to accept money from his parents. ChanHo's family is large, and even though he loves them all, he can't stand loud noises, so he often visits with JooHyun as a break from his rambunctious relatives.
INTERACTIONS» Due to ChanHo's sensitivity, there had been many arguments between him and JooHyeon in the beginning stages of their friendship, normally resulting in ChanHo crying and JooHyeon hating himself. They have since grasped a better understanding of each other, and JooHyeon has learned what lines not to cross, while ChanHo has learned not to take JooHyeon's anger personally. Both JooHyeon and ChanHo have a hard time expressing their feelings, so despite how much they like each other, neither is willing to confess first. In recent months, the two have had a hard time holding back their feelings, but they each are afraid of the reprocutions of becoming official; JooHyeon doesn't want to drag ChanHo into the highly-competitive entertainment industry, while ChanHo doesn't want to ruin JooHyun's chances of debut. For now, they are at a bit of a standstill, but they can feel themselves about to break at any second.
FIRST MEETING/HISTORY» The two met online three years ago, both being established ulzzangs, and they emailed back and forth for months before JooHyeon invited ChanHo to the coffee shop he works at. They chatted over lattes and k-indie playing in the background, discovering they have many similar interests. The two have been inseperable ever since.
THE END
SCENE REQUESTS »
-JooHyeon is almost eliminated from the competition after going into a fit of rage while on camera, but when he personally visits Nam ChaeRin at her office and gives her a sincere apology, she agrees to keep him only the show-- on the one condition that JooHyeon will be much more careful about his image from now on.
- MinX makes a cameo appearance on "Ruthless," which reveals the friendship between JooHyeon and SooAh and leads to rumors about them being a couple. ChanHo hears these rumors and confronts JooHyeon about them, leading to their confessions.
- Interactions between KaJi and JooHyeon, such as JooHyeon letting KaJi dye his hair and it turning out as a gaudy, bright shade that the other trainees make fun of.
COMMENTS & QUESTIONS » Since MinX hasn't released member profiles yet besides stage names, we don't have much information on Su-A, so I made up her age and her birthname; I hope you don't mind! If there's any problem with that, just tell me, and I can give her character to another idol~ (Also, I don't know how you like to write out Korean names, so you can use whatever type of romanization you'd like for these character names)
PASSWORD » The trainees could hold a talent show in public without any knowledge to passerbys, making the audience (who are the judges) that happens upon them be unbiased when casting their votes. The rappers could have to make an impromptu cypher to test their lyric-writing and quick-thinking.
