Which book is better...

I've to read one classic book for school and make an essay about it and right now I have to options: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde or The Catcher in the Rye.

They both seem interesting and I can't deside, so does anyone have an option which one is better? :D In the essay, I've to discuss the book from some particular perspective, like death, love, difference, childhood etc. The essay have to be from 650-800 words (though it's for my Finnish lecture so yeah... I've to write more since you need less words in Finnish than in English to write something).

So which one you think is better? :)

(On the side note.... After 2,5 months, I can finally use my computer *happy dancing*)

I read The Catcher in the Rye and when I finished it I was literally like 'wtf was the point of that ing book' because it's all literally random and nothing he says has anything to do with anything else, but then again, Classics usually . I couldn't write an essay on that book even if I wanted to, but we had a test on it and literally the questions were like 'what was that store he always went to as a kid' and 'who was his roommate' because literally it was all so random. I guess you could make symbolism come from anything, but really, it was a load of random
