I wouldn't really care if he was gay either. I just think that (unfortunately) his life would be easier if he were straight.
And of course, forever alone is very sad and I wish it to no one.

If he is with another girl.. I can just steal him away :P but if he is gay.. he only likes guys! So the I can only be his friend.
and if he is forever single, he will be forever single.. so no point in that :O
