Take it down, start over! You can most likely still use the bulk of what you've written, but once you start editing, you might find that a LOT of things will change for the future of the story. If you try writing a continuation of what's already out there, the new stuff might end up being useless.
But I fully support this editing decision! Writers change and grow so much through the editing process & you're going to feel so much better about the story you're putting out there.
I find that when I edit my stories, the path of the story changes and it's a HUGE pain in the trying to match up the new story to the old story. If you want to improve your story, then I think you should do it from the beginning and not restrict yourself by keeping the original path. I think keeping the older unedited chapters will just confuse people. Another option is to post the edited version as a new story, and keep the old version as it is for anyone that wants to read it while waiting for the newer version.
