Forget-Me-Not

Description

Taekwoon loves Thursdays, because it means getting to watch Hakyeon practice for their upcoming student recital. But this Thursday brings back unexpected memories that the brunette had hoped Hakyeon had buried years ago.

Foreword

This story is a short that takes place in Rosefangedlion's Flower Boy Bakery series. Let's just say I overslept on a nap and this was the story she asked me to write. Well... her words were "Neo in the dance studio." I don't think this was what she asked for, exactly. But there you go.

Chapter 1: I had no idea what I was getting into when I started reading this story. I'm pretty sure it was a recommendation from a friend, and it took a little bit to really warm up to, but once I got to the heart of the story... there! That's where the magic happened.

Hearing about Hakyeon and Taekwoon's life together was cute and quaint in a homey way; the routine of familiarity and being comfortable with someone. It had little significance initially, beyond setting the stage, until you get to the part where you understand Hakyeon was broken before (picturing Youngjae breaking anybody's jaw was a stretch for me at first but damn the imagery and what it would take to get him to that point). And while I am not familiar with that song (I will need to check it out shortly), the way you wrote Hakyeon in dancing to that piece told me pretty much everything I needed to know, even without the summary. Your descriptions of him there were awesome and I found myself hurting and in awe just reading the words you chose as you detailed that scene.

And in beautiful counterpoint to such pain, you had Taekwoon, going over everything in his head and spelling out the missing pieces to help us understand better too. I loved his response to it. Getting up and replacing the song with something else, something better. A part of me still wants to know just why Hakyeon went there in the first place (since it's obvious he's quite happy with Taekwoon) but old memories die hard sometimes.

Reading them together at the very end was heart warming and beautiful. And I really enjoyed the end with a hesitant admittance that 'the dress' comment sort of pulled me out of the moment. It was funny for sure, but I wanted to bask in their warmth for just a little bit longer. haha Perhaps that is me being selfish but still a wonderful story all the same. Thank you for sharing, even if it was a punishment piece. lol
