Hayi was the main reason why they were able to keep their sanity, to distract themselves from the truth.

To hide the underlying fact that they were ruthless monsters.

Lee Hayi could not possibly be happier than she was now.

She had a loving family who never failed to spoil her rotten. They weren’t her biological family, she was sure of that, but that didn’t matter at all. Regardless if they weren’t blood related, she still loved them to death.

And they to her.

For as long as she could remember, they had been—and continue to be—a part of her life.

The brunette could not even ponder on what her life would have been like she did not have them in her life. It was unimaginable—and this is coming from a girl with an abundance of imagination—and completely irrelevant.

All that mattered that they would always be with her.

Just like they promised.

She was never meant to stay with them. That wasn’t the plan intended.

They were a coven, a family if you will. At least, that’s the image they upheld for the mortals anyway.

Within their area and beyond, they were known for their most feared, ruthless reputation and rightly so. In order to maintain order, there needed to be discipline inflicted on those of their kind who did not follow the rules.

And one little town in their district, weren’t doing as they were told.

High taxes for protection were bestowed on the people living in their land—although the mortals were oblivious to what they were exactly—it didn’t take a genius to realise the power and authority these individuals carried around and displayed.

This kind of rebellion was not something they could easily turn a blind eye. Oh no, if they were to do such a thing, then that could most likely influence other idiotic mortals in the surrounding towns.

That certainly wouldn’t do.

So, an example had to be made.

In which, the entire vicinity was wiped out completely with no intended survivors. With the money they possessed, it would be easy to erase the existence of the town, persuade a few acting members in the higher authority.

However, what they weren’t planning on happening—something they never dreamed of doing—was taking in a little human girl, orphaned by their sins.

She grew up unknowing of their kind, day by day she would grow older and blossom in maturity while they all stayed the same as when she first stumbled upon them.

Hayi was the last strand of humanity they had left. But as her beauty continues to shine through each and every day passes by, the struggle begins as she slowly drifts away, preoccupied by her schooling and most importantly the prospects of teenage romance.

But they sure as hell aren't giving her up, especially not to no girly looking flower boys.
