Dear Diary,

The time has finally come.

He’s coming for me like he said he would.

The prince is due to arrive this evening to meet with my father and take me away to be married. I’m frightened of what is going to happen. The household has been deathly silent the entire day leading up to this hour. Up until recently, Father has been locked away in his study and has been refusing his meals. He finally left his study an hour ago and something about him appears off. When I questioned him, he assured me with a smile that everything would be okay.

Father tells me that he won’t let him take me away. He says he regrets what he is going to do, but he tells me it is something he has to do in order to protect me. I don’t understand what he plans on doing. All he has told me is that I must pray for my children and my children’s children.

I’m terrified that he plans something dangerous.
