Rooftop Confessions

Valentine's Day [A Sequel]

It was 11AM on a Saturday morning and Mino was up and about in his room, taking out his outfit for the night from his closet and singing along to the radio. Normally he wouldn't even bother turning the radio on during this week, being how at this time of the year it would be full of cheesy love songs. But this time, he had someone in mind when listening to those love songs, and every time he remembered, he grinned like an idiot.

Mino had made plans for him and Jinwoo to spend the whole afternoon together, picking a perfect location for the whole event. There wasn't a single detail he had missed when planning their "spectacular valentine's date", like Mino had described it to Jinwoo. But of course, Jinwoo had no idea what was going to happen on that date, since Mino decided it would be more fun ot lead his boyfriend blindly surprising him.

I'll call the place one more time to double check that they have the area reserved and they're placing everything where it should be... I need to make sure this date is perfect, Mino thought to himself. He was definitely nervous.

~ ~ ~

Jinwoo had just gotten out of the shower and was drying off his hair when he heard a knock at the door.

"Coming!" he shouted as he ran to answer the door. Mino said to be ready by 6 and it's only half past 3PM, why is he so damn early? he thought to himself, half annoyed but at the same time a bit upset with himself for not being ready anyways. Of course, he didn't expect to see a woman standing outside his door with a red package in both hands.

"Extra special delivery for Mr. Kim Jinwoo," she said as she extended the package to Jinwoo, who only looked at the box with a confused expression.

"Um, excuse me, but who is this from?"

"The sender didn't include their name but they did write a note on the box. Now if you could please sign here, I'll be on my way" he signed the clipboard and took the package from the delivery woman's hands and stared at the package with furrowed brows only to give the woman the same look as he watched her car drive away.

Closing the door and walking back to his kitchen, Jinwoo noticed the pink note attached to the top of the box.

"Hey bambi, have you picked out something to wear for tonight?
Oh? You haven't?
Good because I want you to wear this for our date.
See you later ♡"

Jinwoo grinned as he read the note. Mino sure is something, he sighed happily to himself as he went to fetch some scissors in order to open the box. Inside he found the nicest suit he had ever seen in his life... Just from the feel of the material, it looked to be incredibly expensive. But besides its extravagence, he looked at the suit with a worried expression, I hope Mino didn't spend too much on tonight, I don't want him wasting all of his hard earned money just for a date...

He first took the blazer out of the box to take a better look at it and sure enough he realized the designer label. Saint Laurent read the clothing tag. He almost couldn't believe his eyes as he extended the suit properly, noticing another note fall out from inside of it. Jinwoo picked up the heart shaped paper and smiled;

"Don't even worry about how much this night cost me, hyung.
You're worth more to me than any price tag could ever express.
Can't wait to see how hot you look in this later
;)"

Jinwoo couldn't help but laugh at the wink face. Mino was such a tease. In texts he'd act all macho and y but if you ever asked him to say those things to your face, he'd turn as red as a tomato and whimper away like a newborn puppy. He smiled and hung the suit up in the bathroom where he would make sure to steam it to get rid of any wrinkles that could have appeared during the delivery time.

Mino really is going all out for tonight, Jinwoo thought, unable to stop himself from blushing at the thought of his extra sweet boyfriend. Moments like these were when Jinwoo truly felt lucky to be with someone as amazing as Mino. Not because he liked to buy him things - although that was always a nice bonus - but because he cared so much to put this much effort into things just to see Jinwoo happy. It made his heart feel warm as he went back to styling his hair.

~ ~ ~

It had been over 2 years since Mino and Jinwoo had met at the Kim Christmas dinner. And on this February 14th, it was officially 1 year since they had officially started dating. That first year they had spent it going on dates and getting to know each other's personalities. Which ended in the both of them falling for each other more and more with each and every passing day. Jinwoo loved how Mino could be a complete dork one minute and extremely thoughtful the next, it made being around him never boring. Likewise, Mino loved that Jinwoo was always so kind to everyone he met, being such a genuinely caring person but also having such a mischievous side to him that not many got to see, so Mino felt extra lucky whenever Jinwoo would act playful around him, knowing it was his way of telling Mino he felt comfortable being around him.

The two boys felt over the moon whenever they were together, feeling warm shivers up their spines when they would hold hands and instantly feeling weak at the knees when they would kiss. Even if it was just the smallest little peck on the lips, it would set their heart beats racing and their minds would feel clouded with nothing but the other's name. Whenever they kissed, they swore it felt like the rest of the world had disappeared.

It was precisely 6PM and Mino was walking up to Jinwoo's doorstep, a bouquet of red tulips in hand, anxious to pick up his boyfriend for their special night out. Only that just as he was about to knock, the door flew open and behind it stood a very giddy Jinwoo. Mino looked him up and down, admiring how perfect the older boy's thin figure looked in the suit. Mino knew Jinwoo would look good, but he didn't expect this kind of perfection. It almost took his breath away. (A/N - see here: x)

Jinwoo giggled at how astounded Mino looked, but he couldn't deny that Mino looked downright hot in his own suit, making Jinwoo's eyes widen and his cheeks blush as he tried to not pay too much attention to how Mino's pants hugged his thighs perfectly or how well sculpted his shoulders looked. Mino's figure was a sight to behold, it was so perfectly proportioned that Jinwoo was always taken back by the fact that a guy like Mino actually existed outside of his own fantasies. (x and x)

The both of them just stood there, taking in the other's full figure. Sure they'd been on plenty of dates before, but never had they seen each other in such formal attire, it made Mino's heart flutter. Mino didn't know how long they had been standing there staring at each other but he needed to say something or else they'd be stood there the entire night.

"So," Jinwoo cleared his throat, beating Mino to being the one to break the silence. "Are those flowers?" he nodded his head towards the tulips in Mino's hands. Mino could only nod as he handed the bouquet to Jinwoo, mouth still slightly hanging open. Jinwoo took the bouquet in one hand and Mino's hand in the other, "Thanks babe, how'd you know I loved red tulips?" He walked them over to the kitchen to put them in a vase, making sure the ends were cut in a way that would help them live longer. Mino watched as Jinwoo carefully handled the flowers, smiling at how even near one of the prettiest parts of nature, Jinwoo still managed to look so much more beautiful than any flower could ever be. He seemed to be lost in thought because he didn't notice when Jinwoo was no longer tending to the flowers, but how he now had his arms wrapped around Mino from behind, nose barely brushing at his neck so much so that he had to tip toe a bit to be able to whisper into Mino's ear.

"You look really good tonight, babe" Jinwoo's voice was always like a drug to Mino but when it was this hushed, it made his entire body feel like it was going to light on fire.

Jinwoo continued to nuzzle his nose into Mino's neck, peppering it with smiles in between small kisses. "I, uh," Mino stammered, in a (failed) attempt to maintain his cool composure around his boyfriend. "I should be saying that to you. You look like you were sculpted by Gods!" and with that, Jinwoo could only blush and tip toe up to kiss Mino's cheek.

"You are so cheesy sometimes," he teased back, letting go of his waist, and holding onto his hands. "We should get going though. Unless our special date included us yapping near my kitchen counter for 4 hours"

Mino let out a big laugh, half from nerves and half from Jinwoo being a sarcastic little and he loved it. "Alright, let's go" and from there they were on their way to Mino's car, hand in hand, with excited smiles plastered on their faces.

~ ~ ~

"Can I take this off now?" Jinwoo raised his hands up to the blindfold he had had wrapped around his face for the past hour, or at least he thought it felt like an hour when in reality they'd only been in the car for about a half hour. Mino put it on him the moment they had gotten into the car, saying something about surprises and how "surprises should be kept secret for as long as possible".

Mino stopped Jinwoo's hands from fumbling with the knot he had tied and looked over at him, "Not until I say so. Now sit still and I'm going to go around the car and open the door for you. If you ruin my surprise by peeking, I'm taking you home with no supper!"

Jinwoo just sighed dramatically as his hands fell back into his lap, clearly showing there was no use trying to get the blindfold off on his own without Parental Mino scolding him for not following his rules. "Okay, mom, I'll keep the blindfold on," Mino just laughed and continued to getting out of the car, walking over to Jinwoo's side and opening the door, first reaching for his right hand.

"Good, now step out with your right foot first and careful with your head," he guided Jinwoo to stand up in such a protective manner that to any onlooker, it would seem as though Jinwoo were some sort of prince that needed to be handled with the same delicacy as a golden feather.

Mino locked the car and lead Jinwoo to an elevator, knowing that even trying to take the stairs up would be too much of a hassle without being able to see and would only make them later than they already were. The elevator doors dinged open and Mino walked Jinwoo inside, right hand on the small of his back to guide him and left hand free so he could do things like press the buttons and open doors for him, always making sure he was unable to figure out their surroundings by bumping into anything.

"Not being able to see as you go up an elevator feels really weird," Jinwoo said in the most (forced) uninterested voice that Mino had ever heard, causing him to stare down at Jinwoo and laugh. My boyfriend is so cute, he thought, leaving a kiss on the older boy's cheek, smile growing wider when he noticed the faint rosyness in his cheeks begin to appear. Definitely the cutest person to exist.

The elevator dinged once again and they were now on the top floor of the entire building. "We're almost there," Mino said as he began to walk Jinwoo out of the elevator. "We're about to take some stairs though, so try and be patient with me, alright? The only person I've ever helped walk up stairs is my grandmother and even then she had better eyesight than you do right now," he couldn't help but laugh at how helpless his boyfriend currently was and especially in an area where it'd be impossible for him to not be good at. "Those big deer eyes sure aren't very useful here now, are they?"

Jinwoo glared at Mino from under the blindfold, and Mino could tell from the way his eyebrows knitted together. "And whose fault is my bad eyesight here?" Mino could only laugh at Jinwoo, it was adorable watching him get all flustered by such small things. Plus, it was adorable seeing such a cute face attempt to look angry when he knew deep down that even in his current state he was beaming on the inside.

"Oh would you calm down? It's not even that many steps! It's maybe like 5. And then you'll finally be able to take my lovely blindfold off, your Nagging Highness," and to that Jinwoo just smiled, he loved that he could be playful around Mino and it could always be counted on that he wouldn't take it as seriously as others sometimes did. He was one of the very few people he felt comfortable showing this side to and it made him feel happy beyond words to have someone that understood him so well.

Jinwoo heard a door open and Mino tried his best to describe each step to him, so he could avoid tripping and make it up the stairs safely. Sure enough like Mino had said, it had only been a couple steps, and then Jinwoo heard another door open and suddenly felt cold air. He could hear the faint sound of cars driving past and looked to where he assumed Mino was standing.

"Where are we?" he asked as Mino continued to walk him further into the sound, looking around (as if that would help).

"I'm going to take your blindfold off now, but don't lean too far forward, alright? The last thing I want is for you to get hurt," but before Jinwoo could question what he was yammering about, Mino had already taken the blindfold off of him.

He almost couldn't believe his eyes. In front of him, was the most gorgeous rooftop view of the city he had ever seen; the cars were rushing past and people were walking hurriedly to their next locations. Traffic lights were blinking and store windows were as bright as could be, luring customers in with promises of discounts on their products. Not only that, but the night sky looked absolutely beautiful and clear, with maybe a star or two twinkling despite the bright city lights. Jinwoo didn't know how long he had been standing there, mouth slightly open in sheer awe as he looked around and admired the view around him.

Yet even with a view as splendid as this, Mino could only find himself looking at Jinwoo, with such soft and loving eyes, because he knew that no matter where they were, the only source of beauty he would ever care to see was standing right in front of him. And he'd always be grateful for the amount of happiness this boy has been able to bring him in such a short amount of time in his young adult life.

"So," Mino interrupted Jinwoo's trance in a lower voice. "I'm guessing you like the view?" Jinwoo slowly looked over at Mino, almost reluctant to look away from the city fearing it was too good to be true. He had the most innocent set of eyes that Mino had ever seen and he didn't even know how to react. It almost felt likethe world had stopped the second their eyes met.

"Mino..." Jinwoo's voice was so soft and sweet that Mino could feel his heart racing as he reached his hand out to Mino, silently asking him to stand at the edge of the rooftop with him. Mino could only follow his movements as he stared at Jinwoo's gentle expression. "You did all this..." he looked back over the edge and then back at Mino with a loving smile. "...for me?"

Mino felt like his heart might burst at how ethereal Jinwoo truly was when illuminated by the night sky, unable to hear anything other than his own heartbeat, which seemed to now be caught in his throat. He smiled at the way the older boy looked truly fascinated by the entire moment in time and could only reach over to take both of Jinwoo's hands in his own, unable to hide the fact he felt as though he were flying when next to him. How whenever he was with Jinwoo, he felt like he could conquer the world.

"Of course I did. You deserve the absolute best, hyung. Plus, you haven't even looked behind you! We're eating dinner while overlooking this view," and he nodded towards the dinner arrangement he had set up behind them. Jinwoo looked back and his eyes only widened even more when he realized the surprise wasn't stopping just at the presents and view.

There was a tablecloth the color of eggshells spread upon a round table and a black chair on either side. A small candle had been placed in the middle, illuminating the napkins and wine glasses that had been placed in a mirrored fashion for both of them to be able to sit and face each other during the night. Small lights were hung around the area in the shape of small paper lanterns, providing a warm glow to the space, making it feel like their own personal oasis on the rooftop. The whole thing looked as though it were copied and pasted straight from a movie and Jinwoo was at a loss for words. No one had ever done something this special for him and he didn't even know where to begin when he opened his mouth, trying to tell Mino how grateful he felt.

"I... Mino, it's gorgeous... You really didn't have to do all of this just for me, honestly. I don't even know what to say..." he stared back at him with an expression that spoke volumes to Mino, as though someone had granted him a wish and it was all he could ever dream of having. Which was in a way true. Jinwoo had always loved watching dramas where they had such extravagant date scenes such as this, sighing contently as the on-screen couple would enjoy their magical night together where they'd laugh and fall in love even further. And of course, Mino knew this. He loved the days they'd spend together, wrapped up in a blanket in Jinwoo's room, laptop and popcorn in between them as they'd spend hours marathoning movie after movie and cheesy drama after cheesy drama, simply enjoying each other's company as the day went on.

"You don't have to say anything, Jinwoo," he kissed the older boy's forehead, gently wrapping his arms around his waist to pull their bodies into a more intimate embrace. "Just know that I love you more than words could ever say, no matter what language I'd even try to use. That every morning I wake up thankful for having someone as amazing and as perfect as you in my life. That when I'm around you, I feel like the whole world is open to us and there isn't a single thing that could ever tear us apart. I'm the one who should be constantly thanking you. I don't know how I got so lucky to deserve someone like you."

Jinwoo softly gasped, feeling the sincerity in Mino's words and knowing he felt the exact same way towards him. He felt his cheeks go hot and took one last look towards the dinner set-up and another to the rooftop view, not knowing how to truly say what he meant. "Mino.. I love you, too," and with that, he kissed him. Not knowing how to express himself in any better way than to just show him, and kiss him in a way that made Mino's knees go weak.

When they would talk about how the world would disappear whenever they'd kiss, they really weren't kidding. This was one of those many moments that it felt as though any worries they've ever had in their lives never existed. As though the only thing to ever exist was their love and appreciation for each other, and that was completely okay with them.

"Happy Valentine's day, babe."

"Happy one year anniversary, hyung."
