Where Happiness Lives
FIRST
High school. Everyone has to go through it, and everyone has their own story. Some stories are nice, others are not.
Even so, high school is relentless, and there are no exceptions.
Now our gaze is focused on one high school in particular. It’s a high school filled with young, bright minds, eager to learn, and eager to experience life to its fullest.
More in particular, our attention mainly goes out to six boys.
A Gang, they call them. Bad boys you should avoid by all means. If you want your heart securely locked in place, preferably as a whole, then you do not get in their way, let alone into their business. They are also known as Bangtan. It was used jokingly at first, but you can say it grew out to be an actual thing. Bangtan means bulletproof, and there are dozens of rumours circling as to how that name actually came into existence, but not one of those rumours have been verified. No one dares to ask the boys, so no one really knows for sure.
There’s a hierarchical order in school that must be respected at all cause. Naturally, there’s the head master who you kind of aren’t allowed to defy. You wouldn’t want to either, since it would only end in getting expelled, and who really wants that? Teachers come next in line, which again goes according to natural order. Following that you get the prefects, with normal students at the very end of the line.
Bangtan however, doesn’t really care about the entire system, and the prefects and teachers have learned that the best thing to do, is simply not care about Bangtan’s antics—up till a certain point—in return. It’s a silent agreement, and it’s not perfect, but it works.
In Bangtan, there’s talk about a hierarchy as well. No one ever talks about it, and none of it is set in stone, but everyone knows Kim Namjoon is the one keeping the other five in check. He’s not the oldest, nor the tallest, but for some reason, they all respect him. It’s not normal respect either, to outsiders, it almost seems as if each and every one of them would willingly give their lives for their leader, and they’d do it in a blink of an eye. They don’t even know they’re right for thinking so. It’s a profound respect no one understands, but just is.
No less than five minutes have passed since the bell sounded or Seokjin, the oldest, plops down in the seat the others never fail to keep free for him. It’s his seat
