Final.

See you soon.

A prescribed medicine in right in front of me once again. I can see through his eyelid that he was upset about me. The diet that he had told me, I didn’t follow it. The medicine that he told me to take at least two times a day, I didn’t follow it either.

No wonder I’m not getting better at all.

All of the employee in the hospital is familiar to my presence and I never blame them for that. They called me, “Weak Boy”, and I am grateful for that nickname… It fits anyway.

“You better follow the diet that I had told you, the new medicine, and eat green, Tuan.” With that, he dismissed me with a frown over his face and I couldn’t blame him either. I was ready and accepted that I’m going to die.

As I was walking down the hall of the hospital, heading to the elevator. The room in my right, with the door slightly open, caught the corner of my eyes. I couldn’t help my curiosity and just enter myself.

The dim light of the room caught me. Only the window of the hospital is lightning the room and the person near at the window, is seating comfortably and staring outside.

“Uh.. Hello,” I cough, ignoring the awkward feeling that I am having. His head turn around, slightly surprised at my sudden appearance. At first, he couldn’t believe that someone was there, in his door, talking to him.

“Who are you?” He asked in such a low and amazed tone. I was afraid to say my name, not that I am scared, just slight.

“Are you the new nurse?” His tone went a little bit high due to the excitement that is pooling over him. I quickly shook my head, turning my head to look if someone might enter the room. When I know the coast is clear, I close the door.

“I’m just here for my daily check-up.” I utter and it’s a good thing that he heard it. With such excitement pooling over him, he invited me over to his bed to talk. I gladly accepted it.

After at least two hours of talking, the nurse enter and asked me to exit the room because of the kid’s daily examination. I left as I bid him a sweet good bye.

The following day, I was in the university, talking to my friend over the bench. He asked me about my condition, which I knew once he found out that I’m not getting better, he’ll freak out.

I shove him out and went home that day.

The following day, it’s the same routine, but there’s a twist to it. My friend wasn’t there.

I shove the thought and carry on the day.

Throughout the day, I thought of the kid in the hospital. I went there, but he was in the ER. I thought I wouldn’t see him, but the operation was success, he was brought to the comfort room, where he and I met once again.

“I’ve been in the hospital for almost 9 months now.” He pauses, which I knew he might be hesitating to continue, “And I never been outside due to my sickness.”

I want to tell him everything would be okay, but I can’t. I left without anymore words.

Never would I thought when I visit the hospital is such a exciting thing ever. I woke up early, brushed my teeth, and even took a piece of carrot out of the fridge for a healthy breakfast.

When the doctor told me that the medicine is slowly progressing within my body, my thin skinny bones are showing progress as well. A smile spread into my lips.

I was walking down the hall when I heard a loud cries in his room. I quickly ran over and saw him crying out of pain, calling out my name, and he was in deep pain. A doctor and nurse came, but before they can calm him down, a sea of blood came out of his mouth.

The nurse asked me to leave the room for privacy. I left with a panic expression on my face, replacing my smile.

A week and I never once within those week I saw him. The smile that he had plastered lingered inside of my head. With that, I decided to pay a visit on him.

“I’m sorry, but the patient warned us never let anyone except doctor and nurse to come in.” I left with my head hanging down.

A year had passed, I was cured but I still continued on taking those advice that my doctor told me to. Within those year, I urged the nurse in the comfort area to let me pass through, and today, I made it.

But what surprised me is a little note in the neat arranged bed at where I knew he usually sat or sleep on.

“To my dearest friend,” I quietly read through the lines, “Thank you for everything. If you ever come back in the hospital, this might be the only thing that would welcome you. Thank you very much, Mark. Thank you. You made me smile all the time.”

As tears started to fall in my cheeks, I quietly read the last lines with a smile over my lips, “Love, Bambam. Live happily and join me but not too soon, okay?” I crumpled the paper and sat on the bed, peeking over the window, forming a smile.

“Thank you, Bambam. I’ll see you soon.”
