If anyone asked Myungsoo who his best friend was, the immediate answer would be, “Sungyeol!” On camera, they seem close, with incessant touchy-feely gestures and fanservice. But off camera, Sungyeol is withdrawn, jumping when Myungsoo’s arm grazes his, and frowning when Sungjong backhugs him.

Myungsoo knows, knows that Sungyeol is hurting, although he puts up a façade of innocence, pretending not to know of Sungyeol’s anguish behind the loud laughter and big smiles the tall boy churns out on a daily basis.

Myungsoo also knows he is a coward, too frightened to own up to his feelings for the older boy, too scared to take a step towards the unknown. Too terrified to change his relationship with Sungjong just to take a chance at one with Sungyeol. And that is why, two months later, when Sungyeol finally breaks, the only person he can blame is himself.

The sleepless nights afterwards are his punishment.
