The dark blanket of stars hung over your head, watching the stars twinkle and the moonlight cast gentle night shadows. Hearing the crickets singing their nightly serenade, you couldn’t help but take in the beautiful night that was upon you.

Sitting beside your backyard pool, playing with the warm mug that rested in your hands. Finding your appetite for your drink gone you just held it for warmth as you looked into the lit water of the pool. Occasionally glancing up at the moon and stars you couldn’t help but think of your wonderful birthday party you had just attended.

Running over all of the people you saw and all of the gifts that you received your mind froze when you thought of one of the most important people in your life. Your boyfriend.

Knowing that he was going to miss your party due to a pre-scheduled performance. you were hoping for him to come to you right after but as the hours ticked on you found yourself more alone. Looking down at your reflection you watched the waves in the pool form with the gentle breeze.

Seeing your reflection and your hair hanging over your shoulders, your fingers gently brushed over the mug that was in your hands. Sad tears started to fill your eyes, knowing that he probably wasn’t going to make it here tonight. Placing the mug next to you, you moved towards the edge of the pool and slowly drew in the water.

Your black sweater with silver stars running up the sides was clearly visible while your white shorts were slightly covered up by the over sized sweat shirt.

Just sitting and thinking, you dragged your fingers through the water and then lifted your wet fingers and watched droplets of water fall from the tips and create ripples on the glassy water. Focusing on the ripples, the click of the gate caught your attention before you noticed another reflection hang over yours, noticing those familiar eyes and messy hair, you sat up and turned around.

Looking onto Beta’s tired body, you watched him pull a bouquet of your favorite flowers from behind his back.

"Happy Birthday, my sweet girl" His voice was soft and like honey as he knelt down and genuinely smiled at you.

"Thank you" You whispered, gently taking the flowers from his hand and giving them a quick smell with your nose.

Moving beside you, he watched you intently, trying to figure out what was wrong without asking. Knowing that you would be upset with him not being able to attend your party that you and your friends had worked hard to plan and execute.

"Was the party fun?" He questioned through the dead air that hung between the two of you.

"It was a lot of fun, you would have liked it" The sadness in your voice told all, your fingers gently moved over the bottom stems of the flowers while your eyes slowly moved over one flower to another. "Was the concert fun?"

"It was, but I would have had more fun with you" Beta cooed, gently leaning over and nudging your shoulder with his. "Did you see the concert?"

"No, I was too busy with my party" You lifted your head up gently. Hearing the rustling of him pulling out his phone out of his pocket, you turned your head and looked at him while he worked quickly to bring something up for you.

"Then I guess you didn’t see my birthday present" He smiled, scooting closer to you as he moved his phone over to where you could see it.

Pressing play, the video buffered for a little moment before you watched Beta stand on the stage with hundreds of thousands of girls around him.

"So today is my girlfriends birthday, and I would love to do something special for her, so on my count will you wish her a happy birthday? One, two, three" The video played while the girls screamed happy birthday to you.

Nodding your head at the kind but last minute present, you dropped your head and wrapped your arms around your knees.

"Wait, you haven’t seen the best part yet" He whispered, tapping another video, it buffered once more before it showed him singing and dancing to your favorite songs.

Even though some of them weren’t from his bad, he was still singing and dancing, the crowd going along with it as he smiled and enjoyed his little performance for you. Watching him perform your top five favorite songs, since you couldn’t narrow them down, you smiled and rested your head on his shoulder.

"That was really nice of you" You whispered as the screen faded to black.

"Well don’t go thanking me yet, because I have more presents for you tomorrow, just for you since I couldn’t be here with you on your special day." Beta smiled and wrapped his arm around your waist.

"Are you serious? I get to spend a whole day with you?!" You were ecstatic

"I will also do anything you want to do, it will just be a couple day for the two of us" He smiled seeing your reaction.

"This is the best birthday present yet!" You threw your arms around him, causing him to fall backwards and hold you between his arms.

"Don’t thank me yet, you still have to deal with me all day tomorrow" He giggled, tucking some hair behind your ear.

"That won’t be a problem" You shook your head before the two of you sat up and moved into his lap, his arms wrapped around your shoulders while his chin rested on your shoulder.

Now this is a perfect ending to a birthday that you would never forget~
