It's Complicated

I Couldn't Stay Away

When Chanyeol wakes up the next morning, he notices Baekhyun's sleeping body besides him with Baekhyun's head placed gently on top of Chanyeol's chest. Unknowingly, Chanyeol smiles and gently presses a soft kiss on top of his lovers forehead before pulling Baekhyun closer into his embrace. Chanyeol loved waking up and finding Baekhyun's sleeping body besides him. It had been almost a month since he had last woken up and spent a couple of minutes with Baekhyun in bed together -probably due to the numerous amount of things going on.

Personal and buisness wise.

Chanyeol's smile suddenly begins to fade, when he suddenly remembers the conflict going on. Honestly, Chanyeol felt scared and his thoughts suddenly begin to overwhelm him. Because what if after everything, Baekhyun chooses to leave him and find another man to take Chanyeol's place? What's going to happen to him? Is he just going to watch Baekhyun move on happily with another man while he was stuck and forced to marry someone he wasn't even fond of? And what's going to happen to his relationship with his child once Baekhyun had delivered the baby? Was Baekhyun going to give him visiting rights or would Chanyeol not even be able to see his child after all he's done to hurt Baekhyun? Chanyeol shook his head. Baekhyun couldn't do that. Could he? The thought of not having Baekhyun and their unborn child besides him everyday scared the hell out of Chanyeol.

"Morning." Baekhyun yawns, rubbing his tired eyes. "Did you sleep well? You woke up pretty early. Are you not going to work? It's already 8-"

Chanyeol shakes his head, as he places a kiss on top of Baekhyun's lips. "I thought I'd spend the day with you. Besides we're running low on groceries and I feel kind of bad for making you do that-"

"It's fine-"

"No, it's not. You're pregnant and you shouldn't even be lifting heavy things. Besides carrying those groceries weigh a ton." Chanyeol replies, giving Baekhyun a stern look on his face. "You need my help, believe me."

Baekhyun sighs. "Yeol, really you do everything for me so carrying groceries isn't really a big deal when you do so much more. Besides you let me live here without paying rent just so you could keep an eye on me-"

Chanyeol didn't know why, but what Baekhyun had said made him feel ten times more horrible. Because in Baekhyun's eyes, he saw Chanyeol, as the good guy. The guy who was honest and would do anything for him. But in reality, Chanyeol was just an for lying to him. Baekhyun blinks, when Chanyeol doesn't respond and instead has a gloomy expression on his face. Was it something that he said? But then again, Chanyeol's been behaving wierd lately. Baekhyun shrugs, Chanyeol's probably been too stressed out with work recently.

"Don't make it sound like you don't do anything for me, Baek." Chanyeol finally replies, tightening his grip on the latter, who just continued to snuggle closer to Chanyeol's broad chest. "You're carrying a living thing inside of you all because I was being stupid and forgot to put on a damn ."

Baekhyun giggles. "You made me fat."

"You're not fat-"

"And hormonal." Baekhyun adds.

"You may be hormonal, but not fat." Chanyeol replies, running his fingers through Baekhyun's hair.

"Yeah, I-"

Baekhyun is suddenly interrupted when Chanyeol's phone suddenly goes off, causing Chanyeol to groan, as he reaches over his bedside table to retrieve it. Once Chanyeol sees the caller ID on the screen, Baekhyun notices Chanyeol expression go blank. Sighing, Chanyeol begins to get up from the bed and makes his way into his private study room. It wasn't really in Baekhyun's position to ask who Chanyeol was talking to -considering the fact that Chanyeol probably made a lot of private buisness calls to a large amount of people- but Baekhyun was still very curious as to why Chanyeol's phone had been ringing on numberous occasions. Everything had started a couple of weeks ago when Chanyeol returned home after going to the hospital to check up on his dad. And ever since, Chanyeol had seemed strange.

Shrugging, Baekhyun gets up as well and heads to the bathroom to freshen up and take a quick shower. He stayed up late at the cafe yesterday, inventing and trying out new recipes to add the menu that he had forgotten to shower due to his exhausted state.

-

From the corner of his eyes, Kyungsoo notices his boyfriend take a seat in front of his desk -probably to ask Kyungsoo when he was going to be finished so that the two of them could go to lunch together. However to Jongin's discontent, Kyungsoo doesn't even spare his boyfriend a glance and continues to do his work that he had been assigned to finish by the end of the day. Sighing, Kyungsoo speaks first.

"What is it, Jongin?"

"Are you free tomorrow?" Jongin questions, causing Kyungsoo to look up with a confused look on his face. Jongin laughs uncomfortably due to his nervous state. "What am I saying? Of course you're free and even if you're not. I'm your boss so I declare that tomorrow you will not have to attend work-"

"What are you blabbering about now?" Kyungsoo sighs, turning off his computer to have his full attention focused on Jongin, who probably had much more important things to do than talk to him. But Kyungsoo shrugs. Jongin could do whatever the hell he wants. Jongin is the boss of himself. "But thanks for the day off tomorrow."

"Lets go on a date tomorrow." Jongin announces, softly almost as a whisper.

"I'm sorry what?"

"A date." Jongin mutters.

"A- what? Speak up Jongin I really can't hear you-"

"A date! Damn it. I'm asking you out on a date." Jongin replies, rolling his eyes.

"A date?" Kyungsoo repeats, batting his eyelashes. Honestly, he was a little confused. The two have been seeing each other for more than 2 weeks already and Jongin had never asked him on a date like this before. Jongin's only asked Kyungsoo out for lunch and even dinner. Aren't those considered as dates? "Jongin, we've been going on multiple dates already. I don't understand why you're so shy and had to ask me like this."

"There's a difference, Soo." Jongin replies, sighing. "I'm asking you out on a real date this time. Those were just hang outs-"

Kyungsoo tilts his head. "What's the difference between a hang out and a date?"

"I don't really know... but there is a difference!"  Jongin responds. "So what do you say, do you want to go on a date with me tomorrow?"

Kyungsoo laughs. "Well duh. I'd love to go on a date with you. Is that even a question?"

Baekhyun had trouble disciplining himself not to cave into his cravings during his pregnancy. And being surrounded by food in every aisle of the supermarket wasn't making things any easier. It practically took everything in Baekhyun's body to restrain himself from opening a bag of chips that he had passed through. When he finally passes the junk food aisle, Baekhyun takes a sigh of relief. At least he was able to restrain himself-

"What are you doing?" Baekhyun questions when he sees Chanyeol throw a bag of chips into the cart. Didn't Chanyeol know that Baekhyun was trying not to let his cravings take control of his body? And now Chanyeol had the audicity to throw the bag of chips on front of Baekhyun. Was Chanyeol trying to torture him or something?

Chanyeol freezes, giving Baekhyun a confused look. "Um... nothing?"

"Take those chips out, Yeol. We're going on a healthy diet-"

Chanyeol scoffs, watching as Baekhyun crosses his arms in discontent. "Baek, I don't go on diets and you shouldn't either. Besides potato chips are bad for the baby, if that's what you're worried about. A potato is practically a vegetable. In fact, it's my favo-"

Baekhyun laughs but before he has a chance to reply, he hears Chanyeol's phone ringing from the insides of his pocket. Again. Baekhyun watches as Chanyeol reaches into his pocket and pulls out his phone.

"Yeol, is there something wrong?"

Chanyeol faces forms a soft, smile as he pats Baekhyun's head. "It's nothing just a business call that's it."

"I'll be back, Baek." Chanyeol says, as he slides his phone to answer the call. Chanyeol then excuses himself, before he leaves Baekhyun in the middle of one of the aisles. Baekhyun knew it was wrong for him to worry. But his nerves suddenly got the best of him, causing him to overthink. Something inside of thim was telling him that Chanyeol wasn't telling him something.

Something that was possibly important.

"I understand." Chanyeol replies, sighing into his phone. Chanyeol's mother had called him to remind him once again to help Lay go to a nearby bakery and taste a couple of cakes to see which one they had wanted for their wedding. "I get it, I won't be late."

"Good because this is important. Mrs. Zhang and I will join you guys later on."

-

"Jongin stop kissing me!" Kyungsoo hisses, trying to shove his boyfriend off of him, so that he could focus on his work. At first, Kyungsoo found the sight to be adorable but after a while he grew tired of Jongin's constant whinning.

"Suho-"

Jongin huffs, crossing his arms. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Relax. I'm not here to steal your boyfriend from you." Suho replies, laughing slightly by how easily Jongin gets jealous because of him. "Even if I could, I wont. Anyways, I'm just here to inform you guys that I'm going to China for a couple of weeks for that buisness trip meeting with the Board Of Directors."

"Have fun." Kyungsoo smiles, cheerfully. "I've never been to China but my bestfriend's Chinese and he said to try the dumplings because they're the best and also told me to visit the Great Wall even though it takes forever to pass through."

Suho laughs, leaning his body against the door frame. "Alright, I'll try. I should get going so that you guys could get back to your work."

"Have a safe trip, hyung." Jongin says, waving his hands to bid his cousin a goodbye.

"Thanks. Don't have too much fun here!" Suho replies, before he takes his leave and returns to his office.

Once Suho leaves, Jongin turns to Kyungsoo. "One down, one more to go."

Kyungsoo blinks, confused at what Jongin had just said. "What'd you say?"

"One down, one more to go." Jongin repeats, laughing at his own statemenr. "Now that Suho's gone, we just need to send Jessica off so that the buildings going function alot more easier and quiet. Don't you think?"

Kyungsoo rolls his eyes, but laughs nevertheless. It was true. Whenever Jessica was gone or on a vacation, the company was a lot more quiet and peaceful. "She's been working over time recently-"

"Only because she wants that new Chanel clutch." Jongin responds. "It's her only motivation for work. I guess. Just like my motivation for work is to see you everyday."

Kyungsoo gags. "Stop being cheesy. It doesn't suit you. Stick to being an ."

"Come on, Soo." Jongin scoffs. "I've been upgraded to your boyfriend, can't you call me something else?"

Kyungsoo raises an eyebrow. "Like what?"

"Hmm... I don't know maybe you can call me handsome now." Jongin replies, giving Kyungsoo a sly smile on his face, as he strikes a pose in front of the latter. "What do you think?"

"I think you're an idiot." Kyungsoo giggles.

"Hey!" Jongin says, pretending to be offended. "That hurts. Being called an idiot by your own boyfriend. That's low, Kyungsoo."

"Fine. You're a handsome idiot. Can I get back to work now?"

-

"Do you guys think that there's someone else?"

Luhan and Kyungsoo both freeze, as they stop momentarily on their cooking and turn their heads to stare at the pregnant male sitting on one of the barstool tables inside of Kyungsoo's kitchen. Since the cafe wasn't open today and Chanyeol had an important buisness meeting to attend during the afternoon, Baekhyun choose to visit Kyungsoo and Luhan to catch up and even get a couple of advice about his "dilema".

"Are you implying that you think he's cheating on you?" Kyungsoo questions, skeptical.

Baekhyun nods. "A little."

Luhan raises an eyebrow. "Are you serious? You're pregnant and you think that he has the nerve to cheat on you? Come on Baek, get your head out of the gutter. He's obviously way to in love with you to do that-"

Baekhyun plays with his hands, uncomfortable. "I know he wouldn't. I trust him but there's somethings going on that he's not telling me about. I mean the man gets a phone call every second-"

Sighing, Kyungsoo pours Baekhyun a glass of water. "They're all probably buisness calls, Baek. I mean, Jongin gets a phone call every second too but that doesn't mean his cheating on me. I think-"

"Oh hush." Luhan interrupts, shaking his head in response. "Baek, Chanyeol loves you. The man's way too nice to cheat on you. And Soo, Jongin's not cheating on you either. No ones cheating on anyone. Except for me cheating on my diet just now with this cookie."

Kyungsoo laughs, before he suddenly turns to Baekhyun, watching as the man gulps down his water. Kyungsoo waits for Baekhyun to finish before, Kyungsoo speaks. "So I heard about your parents. They called?"

Sighing, Baekhyun nods. "They want me to go to America and study medicine there. Blah blah blah. They still think that owning a cafe won't get me anywhere in life, you know. Same old same old."

Growing up, Baekhyun's family were from the upper middle class. Both of Baekhyun's parents were in medical field that wanted their son to be one as well. Baekhyun's father was a doctor while Baekhyun's mother had served as a nurse in the same hospital. Although Baekhyun was the only child, he was never close to either of his parents, who worked everyday from 6 in the morning to 8 at night. As a child, Baekhyun grew close to his grandmother, who always took care of him while his parents were away. Baekhyun didn't mind. Baekhyun loved spending time with his grandmother.

After his highschool graduation, Baekhyun's parents had decided to relocate to New York in hopes to send their son to a decent college to study abroad and become a doctor. Baekhyun had spent a couple of days in the university learning and studying about the human body when he suddenly grew tired of it and found out that becoming a doctor wasn't for him. Sure, the idea of him becoming a doctor sounded a little bit intreging when he was younger but Baekhyun wasn't sure he was ready for it. Besides Baekhyun wasn't really the best in memorizing -a key component doctors must know. Then by chance, Baekhyun had stumbled upon an old, vintage looking cafe located only a couple of minutes away from his university. As he stepped inside and took a wiff of the air, Baekhyun felt like he was returning to his childhood where he and his grandmother would always make goodies and snacks together in the kitchen. This was when Baekhyun realized, being a doctor wasn't for him. Because Baekhyun wanted to become a cafe owner. A simple, yet laid back job that would smell like fresh bread and goodies when he walked through the doors every morning sounded like heaven to him.

Baekhyun's parents, however, weren't too fond of Baekhyun's decision to drop out of medical school to pursue his goal in owning his own cafe. So Baekhyun packed his bags and flew half way across the world to live with his grandma, who back then had supported Baekhyun's bold decision to leave. Sure, Baekhyun's parents were angry for a while but they soon got over it. Besides it was Baekhyun's life, who were they to tell him what to do with his life? It's not like they were close like other families. Soon Baekhyun had enrolled himself to culinary lessons and had managed to save enough money to open up a small cafe which soon became well known across the nation for Baekhyun's unique and orginal recipes that he and his grandmother had made.

"They're at least making an effort, Baek." Kyungsoo replies, taking a seat besides Baekhyun. "What'd you say?"

"I told them no. But then they told me to think about it and I said I would."

-

"I like this one!" Lay says, as he grabs the fork once again and slices off a piece of the lemon buttercream cake and mouthfeeds it to Chanyeol. "It's good, right?"

Chanyeol nods his head in agreement -something he had been doing for the past 30 minutes since he came to the bakery to try out a couple of cakes. When in reality, all of the cakes tasted the same. Sometimes the cakes were too sweet and sometimes they were to bitter for Chanyeol's liking. "Yeah, it tastes good."

The wedding planner giggles. "You guys are so cute. Are you both excited for the wedding?"

Lay blushes, turning a light shade of pink. He lets out a giggle before he speaks. "Yes, I'm very excited."

"How about you Chanyeol-shi?"

No. "Yes."

"That's good to hear, because the wedding's fast approaching."

Chapter 21 || Spoiler:

Luhan however, wasn't excatly sure whether to stay or leave. If Luhan had stayed, then there was most likely a chance for Luhan and Sehun to interact with one another and resolve their issues, as a way of closure for the both of them. But if Luhan had left, the issues between them would be unresolved, creating an even more awkward and bitter relationship with one another. Shrugging, Luhan approaches the pond and stands besides Sehun.

"When I was living in Japan, my roomate told me that people in Japan believe that koi fishes symbolize wealth, prosperity, love, successful career and good fortune." Luhan states. "I just thought that Japanese people liked them because they were so colorful but they had a meaning. I guess."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"To clear the air." Luhan replies. "We need to talk and clear up this whole situation between us. Because I'm sick and tired of being awkward around you while we work. We need some closure-"

......

"You wanted ing closure, well there's your ing closure." Sehun hisses, as he pivots his feet and begins to walk towards the opposite direction. "Goodbye, Luhan."
