Releasing the Stars

Description

Star Number... ?  Myungsoo, which star number is this?  I seriously can't remember.

I've broken the jar.  Have you by any chance... picked it up?  The last time I saw it, you were in the same room as me.  Do you remember that moment?  Or were your memories splintered along with it?

Myungsoo, answer me.  Please.

Foreword

When she was seven, Min Hee had been taught the simple beauty of folding origami stars by her grandfather.  He was the closest to her, since she had been suffering mildly from a psychiatric disorder.  He was at the ready, while all the other family members had been too involved in other works to pay her much care.

Despite her illness, Min Hee had breezily perfected her skills after just a couple tries.  And by the age of 10, she had filled up her 20th jar.  I guess you can say she had a bit of an obsession with folding stars.  But isn't that what was keeping her sane?

One may think so.  However, it's the memory of her grandfather teaching her the steps to fold the delicate stars that actually helps.  It makes Min Hee feel more at ease, as if her disorder recedes with each completed fold.  Who can blame her?  She was young.  Putting her trust in these things kept her mind stable.

But now, at the blossoming age of 16, she is faced with new challenges.  Junior year of high school is hitting her hard with loads of tests, college applications, a part time job, and slowly, a grandfather whose life is slipping away.  With all these hurdles, the troubled mind that she had been trying so desperately to shield was resurfacing.

Just as she was about to give in to all these obstacles, a miracle appears in her city of Chicago, Illinois.

Kim Myungsoo, the cold hearted boy appears.  In her dreams, it seems.  But lately, she hasn't been able to distinguish between dream and reality.  So could he actually be... real?
